Star Wars: Revan's War OOC

By Rabobankrider, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beginner Game

There might be some custom creature cards in this thread. I cannot fully remember but, I thought I saw stats for star wars theme creatures which which were not in the books yet. Doesn't solve your questions but it may expand options.

My vote is "companion and mount in one" kind of thing. But that is the Dragonriders of Pern fanboy in me screaming like a nutjob saying "YES!! Magical bond with dragon! YESSSS"

Eventually that't the point I want to get to. Riding a dragon and having it as the companion animal too. That requires at least FR 6 with the stats I have for the dragon though

Do you want a giant muthaf'ing dragon to ride around into battle like a freaking bada$$? If YES, then go for it. If NO....*smack* OF COURSE YOU WANT THIS!! WHY IS THIS EVEN BEING DEBATED!! GIANT DRAGON MOUNT!!!

I think the baby beast rules are for you then, just do it don't let your Dragon memes be dreams.

Haha yeah :P

TL;DR: Real questions that sums all below up: Should Svae have just a bonded companion animal (would be sil. 1 or 0), a riding animal (usually sil. 2 but there are special exceptions), one of each, or try to make the companion the riding animal as well? Question is more geared towards @Rabobankrider but I appreciate input from anyone.

Svae's attitude towards animals is such that I can make any of the options work story wise.

Fair point @Tramp Graphics we will be on a starship but it'll probably be a freighter or something with similar capacity as there are 7? of us so nothing smaller will really work so I don't think having a place for the animals will be an issue even if it is a sil. 2.

Yes there are and we'll probably use them for the dragon.

What I was really wondering about is just companion not necessarily a riding beast. They can sometimes be the same animal but not always. I'm not at the point of having them be the same because most riding beasts are Sil. 2 or higher.

You are right, but there are things that a companion animal does (through talents I've purchased) that a riding animal doesn't and companions are through force rating.

I look forward to this scene with much anticipation Haha!

I bring up the starship issue because it came up in the Jedi Quest campaign. a potential player wanted an Aiwha (Sil 3). Our ship is a Sil 5 YZ-900. Now, while technically, a Sil 5 ship could carry a sil 3 ship (or animal in this case), a YZ-900, particularly one not outfitted with a Retrofitted hangar, most certainly could not. The internal layout doesn't permit it. A YZ-900 is a double decked ship, with each deck topping out between 2.5 to 3 meters high apiece, and overall fuselage height of 5.5 to 6 meters not counting the engines, and a length of 54.3 meters. There's not a lot of room for really large vehicles or animals, even in the cargo holds. My character's ship, in particular is set up as a mobile Jedi training facility, not a starfighter carrier. If we get a ship of similar size and layout, or smaller, in this campaign, that issue could arise with a Sil 2 or larger animal, particularly something as large as a Krayt Dragon. Even a Juvenile Krayt Dragon is Sil 2. They are BIG animals. I recommend sticking with a straight companion of Sil 1, rather than a riding beast or combination companion/riding beast for these very reasons.

If only there was an all powerful arbitrator that can decide if something will/will not be a problem that will get in the way of fun simply because of fiddly mechanics.

Yeah, really. :P

I think to start with a bonded animal is the best way to go at this pount probably

You bring up very valid reasons and later on we will have to decide on the rulings and such. I think it would be very like Svae to have a mobile lab kind of ship capable of holding such animals so he can study them and live his hermit life, but for right now I think I will stick with the silhouette 1 companion and we'll see how the campaign evolves from there.

@Rabobankrider I'm gonna go with a Loth-cat if that's okay with you. I'm going to update my IC post as well.

Sure, sounds like a good animal to start. If you want to pick uo any other small animals along the way, I can look into converting them from the saga books.

So I literally woke up from a dream, and had an idea for a small medical droid that Gaze could have, and he would call it....*drumroll* B9.

Get it? Medical droid, B9! Hah!!

So I know some the supplemental books introduced several small scale, single purpose droids that players could buy, but I don't have those. Anyone recall a droid that would fit the bill? Something that at most gives a bonus on Medicine checks or similar. Mostly I want it for the lulz of the name, but it would be something that Gaze would consider picking up at a later date if possible.

I had to sound it out before I got it, but that's pretty good.

@KungFuFerret there's a number of medical droids I've seen that considering the access Jedi have to tech you can take with you if you want. If you want you can personalize them cosmetically speaking to suit your personal style if that helps. :)

So @Rabobankrider I think all 9 of us have posted our initial interactions with our Masters I count 9/9.

Working on the response as we speak.

Also, @Matt Skywalker , if you can roll a forsee check to see what you find out about the future for you today, unfortunately you guys aren't going to Dathomir this time. :)

Ok guys, you got a mission, and you got a ship!

Ooh, Foerost.

So, are the Padawans going alone or with their Masters?

Aloooooone (dun dun duuuuun), the masters have their own jobs to deal with at this point.

Alright, was about to start typing an IC post assuming both master and student were heading to Foerost. Good thing I asked.

Haha, ic you can ask if they're going as well if that helps

By the way, what does our ship look like? My first thought was the Defender-class light corvette from The Old Republic, although it wouldn't have existed at this point.

I think I'll pick one up later in the game perhaps.

That and a combo of this as well: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/swtor/images/8/80/CA_Jedi_Ship03_full.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100821001546

It'd be described as cutting edge tech for the Jedi, which these ships would have been at the time. It takes the stats of the crucible which are these: http://swrpg.viluppo.net/transportation/starships/3355/

However, as it starts with no weapons, to balance that I'm removing the workshop and ancient databanks in return for an extra 2 hard points. These can be used on guns or whatever else you guys want.
