Star Wars: Revan's War OOC

By Rabobankrider, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beginner Game

Ok, timeline: May not be 100% accurate, but for all intents and purposes of this campaign, this is how it all went down. Also, to fit you guys in at the start of the Mandalorian Wars, I've changed the skip from 15 to 17.

  • 3,976 BBY: Raids upon the Outer Rim begin with non-Republic planets.
  • 3,975 BBY: Initiates make the journey from Corouscant to Ilum for their Jedi trials.
  • 3,964 BBY: Battle of Vanquo sparks the Mandalorian Wars
  • 3,963 BBY: Jedi Council refuses petition from the Senate to join war.
  • The Revanchist leads rebels into the war.
  • The planet of Cathar is decimated by Mandalorian bombardment and planetary invasion. They were left to fend for themselve as they were not members of the Republic.
  • 3,961 BBY: Revan leads Jedi against the Mandalorians on Taris victoriously.
  • Mandalorians are without question winning the war, even with Revan and Malak's involvement.
  • 3,960 BBY: Battle and destruction of Malachor V. Mnadalorians surrender unconditionally holding no grudge from defeat.
  • Mandalore the Ultimate is killed by the hand of Revan and very few Mandalorian forces remain.
  • Mandalorian forces are disarmed, and basalisk droids are destroyed by Clan leaders during the surrender ceremony before being exiled tot he Outer Rim. Some turn to raiding, considered bandits by their kin.
  • 1/3 of the Republic Fleet follows Revan into unknown space, claiming to be chasing the remnants of the Mandalorians. No contact is heard from Revan.
  • 3,958 BBY: The Padawans of the Ilum trials are summoned to the Conclave on Dantooine.

@Rabobankrider, what dice do I need to add and how many?

I think you need 2 yellow, 2 green and 2 purple. That would be using his mechanics ranks and your intellect.

Alternatively you can roll 5 green and 2 purple, using his intellect and your mechanics ranks.

Thats 17 years from our Ilium trip to the start of game. I'm fine if you made the time skip longer just wondering though if you still want 15

Yeah, I changed it so that the trial would slot between the raids and the war. Also it give the characters a bit of time to mature from kids to young adults (mostly), so you characters can be given more missions of greater responsibility.

Well, I did add ranks in Mechanics to my character before starting his lightsaber build, so, add what, three green?

Well this makes Zoroku 31 at start of game, is there any issue with him trying to watch some of the battles occur from a distance whenever he was in the Outer Rim of course, Also does Knight level EXP mean we are Jedi Knights or Padawans?

@Tramp Graphics, did you add them at the start of the game, or after, because the builds are occurring ic before you receive your knight level bonus.

And @Shlambate, that'd be fine, you can perhaps say your master took you to show you 'the evils of war' or something along those lines.

@Shlambate, sure. I'd say a daunting law check

Regarding the addition to the lightsaber, you can either have one attachment, or take one mod for the crystal you guys just got. You can only choose one though, and that is the only thing you get free at this point.

One attachment, like the Superior Hilt Personalization?

After. IF you read my last post in the IC thread, Kataddik requested time to study particularly to learn Mechanics through the Artisan spec. It's really the only reason why I wanted that spec. That;'s why my first attempt, failed, even with two yellow dice. Basically, he'd spend time studying under Huyang before actually making his attempt to build his lightsaber.

@awayputurwpn, after all the confusion with the mod, I changed the lightsaber construction the mod thing to follow these guidelines:

  • Do an average mechanics or knowledge (lore) check for the hilt.
  • Success represents the construction of a basic hilt (or because I like a bit of variety, any type of hilt)
  • Additional successes reduces the time taken by 4 hours (to a minimum of 4).
  • Failure in this case does not mean complete failure, but when you write up your post it does mean you had to start again because you buggered up.
  • As the cost of materials is not an issue, advantage can result in modifications that do not effect mechanics, but can improve appearance and so forth (so purely cosmetic changes).
  • Triumph gives adds 1 hard point to the lightsaber.
  • Threat adds 12 hours to the build each, but 3 threat adds 1 encumbrance as it ended up bulkier than planned.
  • Despair decreases hard points by 1.
  • You may also add 1 mod to the crystal you guys received (which is the Ilum crystal) with an automatic success.
  • Due to the workshop on the ship, you all count as having the 'tools for the right job' talent.
  • You may all make a hard perception check to find a lightsaber attachment (not a crystal) valued at a maximum of 1,000 credits. If you wish to attach this it has to be done with the regular modification rules.

I think that covers the mod thing ok, hope that helps :)

@Tramp Graphics if you added it after, you cannot use it for the build as I said earlier. Ic you will all be building the lightsabers on the way back to Corouscant. As with the meditating, ic you would have been prepared enough to build a lightsaber before coming out here. Failure in this specific setting does not mean you don't get a lightsaber, it just means you had to start the build again so you don't need to worry too much about that.

I got that, but did you read my last IC post. The idea was that Kataddik would spends time learning mechanics, and particularly lightsaber crafting under Huyang before making his attempt, That's why he specifically asked Master Vrook for time to learn before beginning his crafting. That way he would have at least a basic understanding of electronics and such before attempting to build his lightsaber.

He gave you an answer no you cannot improve your skill. Yes you can try again.

When @Matt Skywalker is able to make his post Vrook will tell Kattadik that he will be building his saber at the same time as everyone else, as they will all be expceted to be ready to make their lightsabers by this point in time.

OK. That really changes a lot, since my first attempt, and unmodified second attempt wrere based upon the assumption that Kataddik was allowed time to study Mechanics before making his attempt.

Well you can always choose between the dice rolls that I put up for you to make your lightsaber, and if you want to alter you spending of knight-level xp you can do, as that won't be set till after the posts regarding the time skip.

Well, either way, it would be adding two green then. That's all I need to know. Thanks.

Why would it be adding two green to the current rolls?

I originally rolled 2 yellow both times, the second time only adding a boost die for unskilled assistance, not realizing Huyan'gs stats until @awayputurwpn pointed it out to me. If I use Huyang's skill of 4, and my Intellect, of 2, it would be two yellow and 2 green for his four ranks and my two Intellect though, if Kataddik had been allowed to spend time learning Mechanics first, it would add 3 green using Huyang's intellect. That's why I said either way, I need to add a couple of green dice to my roll.

Ok, well feel free to ad them in, and when everyone has had a chance to most, I'll make the post about returning to the ship.

My background has it where Gaze's Master took him to the various battle sites to help with the victims and injured, given his healing skills.

Svae will be 25 I think he'll spend his time studying nature and animals and then with destruction of all the planets he'll be part of the team that tries and rebuilds the ecosystems. If I think of something else I'll add that too.

I didn't realize @Tramp Graphics was going Artisan as well. I'll bow out at this point, since I'm not really filling any gaps in the group, and you've got a crapload of players alread. Besides that, I have other projects going that require my attention and limit my involvement here.

Maybe I'll have some other chance to play as Quell in the future :) until then, happy gaming to you all.

Good luck with your projects and happy gaming to you, too!
