Ok, I am temporarily back online, hopefully it will stick. Sorry for the delay everyone, and I hope you are all ok to carry on.
In terms of more detail of the surrounding area: You have the temple behind you with the pillars of the entrance at short range. This is the only real cover you guys have, but setting up the cannons behind them would be difficult to work because you can't lean them around corners when mounted on the tripods. You guys are at the tops of the stairs with them stretching down to the road ahead. This is the most likely avenue of attack, especially if the droids are on foot (as opposed tot he assassin type droids you saw earlier). If someone wants to they can run ahead and take cover in a side alley that leads from the road.
You guys have a few minutes to set up, but to save time with me being away I'm going to ask everyone rolls cool for initiative please.
Also, considering the feedback about speeding up combat, I think I am going to try reverting back to the system where pc's take their turn in initiative order. My reasoning is that this will reduce time for players having to decide who goes where, and also means that characters such as gunslingers etc where initiative is a key component isn't devalued. If we use the 3 day deadline for combat rounds, this does mean that combat will still progress and shouldn't get held up. Is everyone ok with this?

It doesn't devalue if we get high initiative slots due to their talents. That's good even if they aren't the ones that go. They can always claim the slot anyway if they want to shoot first. But fixed inits is fine.
Actually having Gunslinger win good initiative and pass to Slugger to slaughter droids if say it’s

is a great thing and makes his value of a high initiative even greater cause if not it makes Slugger always slow.

A thing to note is that my character is based around basically three things: close-quarters combat, being able to take a hit, and going as early as possible in initiative order. Not only can I add extra successes to initiative checks, but I also get extra ranged defense if I've already acted for the round, which is best used if I go early. Just a couple of things to keep in mind.
Set initiative slots might reduce some hesitation, but would also prevent the entire rest of the squad from acting, if a particular player is too busy to post...

I'll suffer a strain to add an additional success with the Rapid Reaction talent.
@Shlambate and @KungFuFerret , fair points. My main reason is to try and speed combat up. @Edgehawk if we use the 3 day limit (and then I have the inactive pc make a standard attack or something), this would deal with this issue.

Ok all, the landlord still hasn't sorted my internet (I'm doing this from a pub with wifi), so I may go dark for a little bit again. They are now saying it will be done by the 19th, so hopefully I will be back to businesses as usual.
In the mean time @player3333902 , I just need your initiative roll. I think unfortunatly @Hchar may gave gone inactive. If you guys want to put up a post of what you want to do to prepare for the battle, I will get things started when I'm next online. I don't think you guys will need a check to prepare unless you want to try and hide in an alley for an ambush, in which case it's an easy stealth.

Haha, I didn't think I was stuck with it, but I was RPing my character. He's been in several squads at this point, so he's had a lot of weird nicknames, hence his reaction to the new one.
Ok guys, my landlord STILL hasn't sorted my internet, and the date has now been set to Friday. I'm going to try and see if I can use a mates but in the mean time I'm still going to be inactive. Sorry again for this, hopefully it'll be dealt with properly soon.

Ok! So you guys rolled pretty well on initiative there, so @Edgehawk gets to go first. As per the new rules we are trying, you've got 3 days to sort a post The enemy is entering at long range of you guys, so it's a hard difficulty on ranged attacks, with a setback for armour on all but the B1's. Also please to remember to specify who you attack so I know who to deduct wounds from. As @Hchar seems to unfortunately be inactive, I will be playing Trapper to help with numbers for this combat.
Also if you think on, please let the next person know that they are up after your post in case I don't have a chance to check that day.

Oh and is dis considered a new encounter? If it does, i can use inner peace to flip ds to ls pips based on the num of conflict i hv.
How would my plan to "roll grenades down the steps" effect Range? I assume if I throw one, setting the timer to max, it will continue to roll down beyond what would ordinarily be considered Short Range?
I can commit Gunslinger's next 10xp to Strong Arm, if that would make a difference?
If there is no way to make an effective attack this round, I will take some other action. @Rabobankrider
