Star Wars Clone Wars: Cyclone Squad OOC

Another question: How will we handle weapons during training?

Do the clones fire weapons with harmless shots but identical statistics as the normal weapons and wear armor that registers the hits (as in laser-tag or similar)? Or do they have normal weapon set to stun? The latter could be problematic, since not all weapons have a stun-setting and besides, stun shots can't hit anything beyond Short range.

Related to that, how will we handle the lightsaber in this situation? If we use it as a training lightsaber, it will be useless against the clones (base damage 6, clones have brawn 2 or 3 and armor 2), but clearly we can't use the lethal version. If the weapons and armor have some sort of a "laser-tag" setting I'd assume Anler's lightsaber has the same setting.

In the episode in TCW where we have an entire training sequence with Domino squad Droidbait gets hit by a blaster bolt and goes down, he doesn't die however, so I'm guessing it's closer to Paintball than laser tag since it probably still feels like getting hit by a blaster without the ill effects.

Coordination : 3eA+2eD 1 failure, 2 advantage

I guess I join Acklay Squad on their way down.

Vigilance : 1eA+1eP 2 successes, 1 advantage

But I notice Oss guys.

It varies, but for this one I'm going to say they sent 6 cadets in total

Weapons work during training using the stun setting, so they only do damage to strain, think the big blue balls of energy that they shot Leia with in episode 4.

For the lightsaber, you have a temporary mod I think I mentioned earlier, so you can essentially have s tun setting as well. so it would essentially work like a stun stick. Think like the capture the flag scene of Starship Trooper.

The problem with that is that weapons have a range of Short maximum with the Stun setting, and not all weapons have a stun setting. Also, without the Breach, the lightsaber will do very little damage against what I assume will be soak 4-5 enemies, making Anler very useless.

I suggest you try to emulate the equipment from the Clone Wars episode @Shlambate mentioned above, or this will be a rather pointless training exercise with everybody running in the open until they are at point-blank (short) range. No snipers, no rotary cannons etc.

It will, all damage and conditions will be the same, except it's just not lethal (damage to strain instead of wounds)

3 failure and 3 Advantages on the Coordination check

1 Success and 1 Advantage on the Vigilance check.

Ok, current order of play is as follows:

  1. @Kymrel (misses first maneuver and optional maneuver)
  2. @Edgehawk (misses first maneuver)
  3. @satkaz (misses first maneuver)
  4. @Stneu73 (misses first maneuver)
  5. @Sterf (coordination advantage can be used to catch himself/get caught by someone from falling off the dome)
  6. Oss
  7. @SHADOWGUARD CHAMPION (coordination advantage can be used to catch himself/get caught by someone from falling off the dome)
  8. @Shlambate (1 free maneuver)
  9. Enemy squad
  10. Acklay Squad

I'll add the others when they have time to roll. Does this so far seem fair to people?

Sure.

Could we get a little more detail on the situation? Number of "baddies", range between us and them, that sort of thing?

It makes things simpler in a PbP if you specify whether the enemies are in a minion group (or more than one group) or not. If you feel like it, divulging Soak and Wounds can allow the game to move faster, but that's, of course, up to you.

Alright, that works. When you mean first maneuver, is that the one that you normally get?

Sorry, yeah: I think I said 6 cadets (5 minions in a group, 1 rival), and you'll all be starting at medium range of them. Actually, those who failed your coordination, start at long to represent the climb back up, I think that makes sense.

For now I'll see how it goes without telling on soak etc, at least to start. As troops fall it'll be pretty easy to figure out chances are.

Copy pasta: link

Keeps his balance, but suffers Strain in doing so.

Sure thing. It calls for a GM post after a hit, rather than the PC immediately describing felling someone, but that's fine. You are very active so that should work well.

With Anler at the top of the list, should I take the first initiative slot now?

Ah, that's a good point, hadn't considered that. Alright, the minions a soak of 3 and a wound threshold of 5 each, but Oss has a soak of 5 and a wound threshold of 15. He also has adversary 1 so upgrade combat checks against him by 1.

And Anler may as well go now yeah, I doubt the others will beat his score.

Initiative is fluid in this game so @Kymrel gave the team the first slot doesn't mean Anler must go first.

Also didn't my advantage give a bonus Maneuver due to the success on the Coordination

@Shlambate , it does yeah, I'll add it in. And I think for simplicity sake I'm just going to go with the highest vigilance check goes first.

Alright, was just checking how we were doing things, we can do D&D initiative for simplicity we do have a lot of players

It isn't ideal, but it saves on posts discussing who should take what slot. And besides, if it doesn't work in this combat, Rabo can always change it in the future.

Anler's attack is rather successful, taking down two clones and wounding the third. He is engaged with the minion group, so I would suggest you try to shoot the leader (the rival) before trying to shoot the remaining three minions. Since if you do, your roll is upgraded once and a despair means you hit your fearless Jedi leader in the back. Which would be baaad.

Alright, @Rabobankrider , do you want the combat rolls in the IC thread or in the OOC thread?

I can do both. And looks like @Edgehawk is next.

I did mine in the IC thread, but hid it with a spoiler. It really helps everyone keeping track of who did what, who can use a boost etc. You can make a spoiler by typing [ spoiler ] put your stuff here [ /spoiler ] without the spaces.

If @Edgehawk is up, he should remember the BOOST DIE Anler has so generously provided him with by surprising the enemy clones with his bold charge.

Dammit Jedi your in the way of my minigun! *Rolls Despair* Looks like I auto fire into your back for 42 damage.... LOL

Will focus on Oss if he's still standing by the time it gets to 9182

May as well do combat in the ic thread then, and we don't want to go too far with the rolls yet, as I don't think @Matt Skywalker has had a chance to roll yet.

Is Lana the only one missing? Just like an Ice Queen to move at the speed of a Glacier!!

By the way, how do you do spoilers on this forum?

Edit: And I didn't read. :P But okay, usual HTML tag.
