Just a reminder that I will be unable to post for the rest of today nor Sunday.

So that means you will be able to for Saturday?

Perception checks for the van- and rear-guards? Difficulty and Setbacks?

Since Bralane is taking point, and Takane is pulling rear guard, Kai will take to the trees for a birds-eye-view.

May I present an argument for a Coordination-based climbing check, as opposed to Athletics? It is more strength-to- weight ratio, anyway, and Sathari are slight of frame, if not outright hollow-boned.

Otherwise, I guess I'll just fire up the boots for a quick boost.

Yeah, my thinking was that we should look for some sign of our mentor, or other shenanigans we may need to watch out for. I buffed Bralane, since she was taking point. Love the idea of Kai getting a bird's eye view, too. :) Now we just need our intrepid GM to tell us what the difficulties are for the Perception checks.

I can answer some questions, but I probably won't post any IC stuff. Yes, tomorrow I'm free.

The path up to the temple won't require any checks. Only such checks will be needed if and when you reach the temple.

Oh... I assumed you wanted us to search out our mentor. Can we just assume we all walk to the temple, then?

You're not at the temple yet. Sort of like... the bottom of the driveway.

In that case, I guess we just need to wait for @Magnus Arcanus to narrate us up the path. :)

Bralane carefully tread up the worn footpath, using hand signals and hushed breaths to direct her companions. Shadows danced in the limbs and boughs of the spruce trees that lined the path, giving the illusion of grasping creatures ready to pounce. A cold and damp breeze occasionally filtered out of the northwest, chilling all travelers as they cinched up their cloaks even more. Slowly and methodically, Bralane moved up the path, watching every shadow for possible danger, and more pragmatically, a twist or bend in the trail that could easily be missed in the darkness. After 30 minutes of traveling, (slowed considerably by the terrain and lack of light), the group finally made it to their destination. All thoughts and sensations of cold washed away, replaced by a flushed warmth from the adrenaline now pumping through the blood of the party.

"What will we find here?!" Bralane wondered silently. "Whatever it is, I will face it head on and bravely like I have everything else in life." muttered Bralane defiantly.

So if I took too many liberties here in finding the temple/shrine please let me know and I/we can adjust accordingly.

Kai takes his scouting to the trees, gliding from one tall spruce to another, though keeping to the lower branches. At one point, his talons inadvertently pull off a hunk of moss-covered bark, and he finds himself scrabbling for purchase... but he manages to right himself, and continue toward the temple without further mishap.

edit: oops, this was intended for the IC thread...

Should we make Perception checks now, BB? Or should we wait for your next description?

I''ll do an IC post and let you know the details.

Fear Check : 1eA+2eP+2eD 3 successes, 1 Triumph

If possible, I'd like the triumph to either give everyone a boost on their Fear check, or if possible, upgrade their dice pool for the check? Or their choice if they'd prefer one or the other, based on individual pools.

I'm using my Master Instructor talent to boost Chadrik's Discipline. I take 2 Strain, and Chadrik counts as having the same number of ranks in Discipline as me for this check (2 ranks). (Head's up, @SebastianArrow !)

That's acceptable.

2eP+1eA+1eB+2eD : 2 successes, 1 advantage [2eP=A/A, -] [1eA=S/A] [1eB=S] [2eD=Th, Th]

I'll recover 1 Strain with the Advantage, if that's OK.

Cool, I'll do a quick little IC comment to explain the boost.

That's fine.

Ditto for Chadrik and Master Instructor.

Nice! Thanks.

2 failures, 2 advantage

Well shucks. I suppose I'll give a boost die to the next person.

So, for failing the 'fear' check, you add 1 Setback to all checks until the end of the encounter. The effects generally translate into hearing what may be whispers, a chill up your spine, and a mournfulness. It's not 'fear,' so much as sorrow of the happenings.

Based on the fear rulings, you could award 2 Boost die to two separate characters. Or you could use the advantage to get an idea as to what happened.

Have all the boost dice been handed out? I still need to make my roll

Two boost dies for the others.
