DARTH VADER IS KINDA MEAN - Jodo Cast Skirmish Videos and Extras

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

For the podcast I think we all have the same mic, a Blue Yeti. For my videos I used to have a sperate Olympus portable recorder but that broke and now I just use my Google Pixel which seems to be doing fine.

New video is up!

40th Anniversary Special!

This one took a long time to edit and I'm experimenting with the new "zoom on the action" effect so I'd love to know if you like it or not. Your feedback helps me keep improving these videos.

Thanks for watching.

I always forget the inspirational luke too haha...

Vader forget his new attack reroll, and in the minute 45:00 when han uses "steal tactics" he rolls 2 evades, that means 2 blocks cause his "cunning". Poor Han he was cheated haha

i enjoyed the match and the imperial leia.

oh my god.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. How did we miss that? I was using cunning the whole game up until that point. :'( :'( I didn't even catch that in editing. :(

My god the 40th Anniversary video was super entertaining, I love the new Vader fix coming out, it looks really good.

Excellent job with the video and I look forward to more!

Hahaha I guess! It sure made an hour of work go by quickly

A new video is on the horizon. Hopefully should be up by the end of this week or this weekend.

A new video has arrived!

Sorry that we screwed up big time on the deployment zone. That one always throws me off. Don't think it makes a difference though in the long run.

I somehow didn't catch that until after I had already uploaded the video.

This video probably took me close to 6 hours(?) to edit. So your feedback, either here or on the video comments are extremely welcome.

Oh also if you're watching in your browser, there's a little "Who will win?" poll you can take right in the video!

I really liked these at the start, but after a while I started noticing too many (strategy/tactics) mistakes to enjoy them any longer. I guess I'm just not the target audience. Are there any other skirmish videos that focus more on the competitive scene?

Now that you've played around with the list a bit would you change anything?

Loved the video, was very well edited. Keep up the good work man!

Well I won a store championship on Saturday using the exact same list.

TBH I think the regular weequays are the most easily replaceable. Could probably be swapped with Greedo and a targeting computer for BT.

Glad you liked the video. :)

How does everyone feel about the "zooming in" in particular? I've been getting mixed messages about it.

I thought the zoom was excellent, allowed people to see the LOS a bit clearer as well as seeing precise movements.

That's my thoughts. I'll keep doing it unless I hear more people say they don't like it. :)

I enjoyed that video, thanks. The command card animations are great for making it crystal clear what is being played/discarded (especially with Blaise in the list). I've no problem with the zooming.

Haven't seen your other videos, but I thought zoom was great. Could actually see what was going on.

Thanks guys. I'll keep doing the zooming in future videos. :)

The zooming is only present in the two most recent ones, and the cards being shown is only in the 4 most recent ones.

These most precent videos probably take close to 6 hours to edit. or something like that, I don't really keep track of time but it takes forever lol. So I wanna make sure everything I'm putting into these videos is worth it for you guys. ;)

Hey guys!

We're unveiling our first ever Jodo Cast alternate art card! (The watermark will not be on the final printed version.)

I'm really excited about this.

All of our Patrons will be getting a copy of this card as a thank you for their support.

Besides that, I'm going to be doing some giveaways for this card once I've got some copies in hand (it'll be getting printed soon).

I'll be giving some away in a future youtube video and probably on Twitter.

Also if you're in Arizona, I plan on giving these out at the Tucson Games and Gadgets Store Championship on August 5 as long as I get my hands on some in time for that.

Hi! Sorry I missed your comment earlier and sorry you're not into the videos anymore. Thanks for at least giving us a chance. :)

Here are some other YouTube channels that are doing Imperial Assault videos that might be more your style and are certainly worth checking out.

Star Wars Streaming with @RoyalRich
BoardWars.EU with @jacenat
Stele TV with @pheaver
Veteran Instincts with... someone on here I'm sure.
Twin Troopers with @dietz057

Hope you find something you like!

There are a few mistakes but I find they're still a good watch and that you can still get a good idea of how units work and interact by watching them @burek277

It's worth noting that going to tournaments you will face all sorts and it's useful to see some lists that are either not quite top tier or players who might do something sub optimal so you get a better understanding of what might happen.

For example something like a Bantha or Smuggler Box list played now might well be horrible to play against as a lot of the newer players into the game will never have seen them.

Or a player might make a mistake like in the latest video with Vinto playing positioning advantage after asking about Zillo blocks, which if pointed out in the comments will give everyone who reads it a better understanding of attack timings.

I can also say from experience that it's a lot easier to point out mistakes when watching yourself back after the fact than it is when you're playing and being recorded!

My 2 cents anyways :)

Thanks @RogueLieutenant for the channel shout out though!

Yeah it's frustrating when you get through a video and then watch it back and notice mistakes. I feel like I'm letting you all down when those little goofs slip through.
