JJ's Juggernaut (1st player) vs ItzSteve

Objective: Fighter Ambush

Score: 318-37 (MoV 281) win for JJ's Juggernaut

A crazy tense game with ItzSteve! We deployed on opposite sides of the giant obstacle fields we made in the center of the map. My forces turned in to come through the center where the station was located, as well as Steve's squadrons. When we classed, his aces took out my escorts, but my raider joined the fight and over the next two turns ravaged the squads. Flechettes and Kallus meant the rebel squads only got a few activations in among them all, and Mauler and friends cleaned up the rest with help from Demo and the ISD's flack. The MC30s were circling meanwhile, while the GR-75s gave commands to the squadrons. Demo narrowly escaped destruction, and the ISD turned hard with JerJer to keep guns on target. Even though one MC30 succumbed to the firepower, Rieekan meant it got to unleash its full firepower on the ISD. My tight turn and ram on that MC30 to kill it did mean I stayed out of close range of Admonition however, which set itself up to force me to move into range next turn. My ISD had no shield and 7-8 hull remaining.

I delayed as long as I could, chasing flotillas with demolisher and using my Gozanti to command squadrons to finish up the squadron battle. Then a crazy idea hit me. I used JerJer over two turns to come around hard with my raider. It managed to get next to the ISD, while still being out of range of Admonition. Then my ISD used JerJer to intentionally ram the raider at speed 3, which backed me up to speed 1 with two clicks on the inside of the tool. This meant I only moved a fraction and kept out of close range of admonition who had to move off. The final turn was Jonus, Demo, and the raider/ISD ramming and shooting flottilas, which brought 2 down.

Only one objective token was scored; ItzSteve got it with a Luke bombing run. JerJer was the real hero, saving my ISD and allowing my ships to be in the fight when they needed to be. A well played match to my opponent, thanks again!

JJ's Juggernaut vs HERO (1st player)

Objective: Sensor Net

Score: 218-88 (MoV 130) win for JJ's Juggernaut

A fun, if somewhat boring game. After the initial deployment I ran too close to the XI-7, Intel Officer, Ackbar, Gunnery Teamed Assault Frigate Mk II. After it pumped out serious damage onto Demolisher and my ISD while I was still at long range, I knew as second player I wouldn't be able to win that fight. Demolisher was at half health, and would be finished off with one semi-average roll, while the ISD could only take 2-3 volleys. Instead I used JerJer to disengage from the fight. HERO was unable to catch up again and the remainder of the game was anti-squadron fighting and collecting sensor net tokens.

With relay my ships pumped out commands and Mauler and one Demolisher parting AA shot took out most of the Z-95s. They did take out Tempest and Mauler in the end, but at the cost of all 7 Z-95s, and Blount. My remaining squads where low, but with some rear arc firepower from my ISD and Demo assisted by Jonus took out a flotilla that strayed to close. I used my Lambda to keep tokens out of range of HERO, and even move a few into my range.

By the end I had 9 sensor net tokens to my opponent's 4, which swung the game in my favor. A well played match, if a somewhat boring one due to my "tactical withdrawal." Thanks again HERO for being a sporting opponent!

I strongly encourage those looking at Moff Jerjerod play to examine this replay.

This battle highlights the importance of Relay, the Lambda, and how Moff Jerjer might be the only admiral in the game that can "tactically withdraw" from a fight once committed.

I was popping in and out watching this game. To echo HERO, Jerry, Mauler, and the Lambda are what won JJ that game. If you've been on the receiving end of JJ's ridiculous penchant for perfect maneuvering, it's now up to a whole new level.

Dr Alex vs Aresius Pod 2

Aresius took initiative and chose navigational hazards from my objectives.

He then delayed his deployment using a-wings and flotillas so I deployed in the middle of the table. He then put his big nasty MC80 battle cruiser on his right with a cloud of Comms relay flotillas to the right of it and a swarm of a wings and YT2400s to the left. General Dodonna then went off on his own in an unarmed flotilla.

I pushed up into the middle and promptly got attacked by squadrons. Not a problem I thought, I can tank the damage and use my quad laser turrets to whittle them down then catch the whole lot in a nasty AA crossfire. Unfortunately I had not realised that I had either the stormtrooper training battalion on AA duty or the guy at the beginning of episode IV who doesn't shoot at the escape pod as it has no life forms in it. I was incredibly accurate, however that meant almost no actual shots were fired and those which were were criticals.

I then screwed up by not choosing one priority target and sticking to it, splitting my fire far too much, then I flew into the bloody debris fields which kept floating around.

The tooled up MC80 then struck, shooting a lot, most of which I targeting scramble red, but also ramming twice with engine techs, the interdictions tanked like mad, spreading shields to each other and repairing, a lot, but a combat refit went down on turn 3 and motti's suppression refit died at the beginning of turn 6. In the meantime I had killed one A wing.

Final score:

Aresius 311

Dr Alex 26

Mov 285

Tournement points 9-2

Ouch. Next time I'm leaving the quad laser turrets at home and using some fighters.

Log file to follow when I work out how to upload it

Zanos vs Truthiness resulted in a 262-114 (8-3, 142 MOV) win for Zanos. He took first player and went with Station Assault. It looked good for me early, but a poor set of commands on my ISD combined with a couple critical pieces of bad luck swung things for Zanos in the end.

With miedo of course.

absolute BARN BURNER vs BrobaFett... i was close to tabling him via ships but couldnt get that last arq with 1 hull ugh... so because he had a pile of squads left and had nuked all of mine plus my demo final score was

SkyCake vs BrobaFett 6-5 mov of 7!!!!

Great game, would love to play him again!

cheers!

Summary:

JRock picked first player and choose Superior Positions out of my objectives. I deployed in a position to maximize squadron coverage on his Interdictor and to keep my ISD2 in the way of his larger based ships.

JRock was unfortunately placed in a compromising position due to the Superior Positions deployment which allowed my ISD to capitalize and destroy his Gozanti whilst my bombers whittled down his Interdictor. As a result I was able to burn down the Interdictor followed by the ISD the turn after whilst Mauler, Zentrik, Valen and IG88 finished off the Decimators. The game ended at the end of turn 5 after a couple of rounds of my squadrons farming tokens.

JRock was an excellent sport who played well with a difficult hand. I wish him all the best in his next game.

Added 2 games above, pluss Zanos/Truthy + HERO's 2 bow-out results.

Reath, I have to say you have an excellent squadron loadout.

Thanks. Only change I would make is changing the Tie Advanced for Tempest, just didnt have enough points in the list.

Just want to reiterate and give massive props to a well played game by Sky!

Totally a scorched earth matchup that came down to the wire!

If I had been able to claim one of the Gozantis by rolling an acc in ANY of the attacks I was able to make on them, or Sky had hit my 1 hull Arq with his Victory red die, the game would have changed dramatically.

moodswing5357 vs. Comatose (Please make CNinja pay for the Worlds hotel room for you)

Comatose 445 - moodswing5357 86 (10-1 359 MOV)

Without a Demolisher on moodswing's side and mostly red-dice style ships, I decided to take second player. He chose my Navigational Hazards, and it was the first time playing it for both of us. He deployed his ISD and Vader's lifeboat in the corner, and I array my fleet across the middle area of my side with a squadron screen across a most of the side. His Arquitens deployed towards the end of my deployments.

We learned a few things interesting about Navigational Hazards. First is that squadrons have an additional use in blocking places that obstacles can go. Second is that squadrons are never going to be able to hide in obstacles for the start of the next turn. Third is that they are scary. Base size seems to matter more than maneuverability. Only one of the Arquitens hit an obstacle. Same with one MC30 hit after an intentional ram to finish an Arquitens off. The ISD...well, we'll come back to that.

At one point, moodswing tried to comfort an MC30 in the gentle hug of a debris field, but it was too close to call so we rolled. What do you think?

My rogues stayed pretty spread out until the second Arquitens was near death. Once I brought them in to finish it off, only Hera managed to survive under the sustained firepower of Maarek, Valen, and Howlrunner. Jendon was there making one of them shoot twice, too, of course. All of my ships survived the game, although the two generics had 1 and 2 damage (including Damaged Controls which made ramming Vader's lifeboat a bad idea).

Wiping out his ships only became possible because of Navigational Hazards. The ISD ended up taking 3 face ups and 4 shield damage from obstacles. Two of those face ups were Structural Damage for a total of 6 cards and 3 shields when they were all applied. This was due primarily due to the clogged nature of the middle of the field by turn 3, and the large size of the ISD's base.

We talked about a log before we started, but there isn't one. Sorry, folks. The action report and screenshots will have to do. moodswing was a great opponent, and we helped each other out multiple times in regards to arcs, positioning, and best shots to take. I look forward to future opportunities to play him, and I hope he slaughters the rest of our pod (well, let's go with a 7-4 slaughter ;) ).

Well played Reath. Was a pleasure playing you. You flew well and forced difficult choices when it mattered. I agree with Cactusman, your squad loadout is quite impressive especially when I had nothing to pin you with or lock down those scatters.

Edit: So that was my last game in the pod which I think will rule me out for any further participation. All the best to Matt and Reath who will most likely progress from Pod1. But who will take top spot. Stay tuned for MattShadowlord vs. Reath28 coming to Vassal soon!

I thought everyone would have learned from ESB by now that trying to fly ISD's in asteroid fields is not a good idea. :P

Yeah, that's on the rock.
