*spoilers* Special Forces TIE/sf is surely coming to X-wing, but how?

By dewbie420, in X-Wing

Some people just don't like the idea that Soontir Fel is unique, that's all.

You can put BBC8 on PS9 Poe he's got the exact same repositioning options.

The turret is reserved for the TIE Aggressor.

<sarcasm>

Never gonna happen - well maybe as a title for the advanced

Not a turret - there's no way it could shoot 360 degrees without hitting the wings

And anyway there's too many PWTs in X-Wing already this would single handedly destroy the game.

Poe isn't Imperial.

Well done sir, well done.

Blech on the turret... aux arc or go home. The game needs absolutely zero more turrets of any sort.

Yeah giving the empire a single small turret ship would be game breaking right brah...turrets are here but only for 2/3 factions and it's an area imps really lag behind.

Giving us one hardly balances things but it'd unlock a few play styles denied us.

Waaaaahhhh! My Imperial ships that do things that other factions can't, can't do a thing that other factions can!

Listen pal. If you want imperial turrets, you better start asking for some Rebel/Scum small ship arc-dodgers too. It's only fair.

Rebels do have Arc Dodgers, Corran horn and Tycho are the ones that fall in that category. Scum not so much. The only thing Rebels don't have is a glass cannon but lets ask the Scyk how does that role work for them? The Imperaisl have their glass cannons as arc dodgers as well.

Poe specifically tells Finn (who's manning the turret because that's what the back-seat gunner does) to toggle between guns, missles and mag-pulse. The cross-sections say there's a single warhead launcher for concussion and mag-pulse missiles, and the only place for that launcher is between the turret's laser cannons.

Given the relatively small size of the turret, that means either very small capacity or very small missiles. (As in, tiny like the Inquistor TIE's S-thread trackers.) Or both.

Thanks for clarifying that up. I guess the animation department forgot about that too since all Fin did was shoot laser cannon at everything. They could have been missiles or even that mag pulse when fin hit those turrets through the shields.

Careful, if you expose Imperial player's complaints as hogwash, you might get reported.

Jake as well.

Trouble with Tycho and Jake is that they don't have the punch to back it up You can dodge all you want but if you're only throwing two dice without any offensive green dice mods...

Missiles are for wimps. Did Finn have missiles when he was a Stormie? No, he had a rifle, and he shot things with it. So in an /SF he's gonna shoot things with it.

Also, missiles and torpedoes seem to be pretty small on the ships that we have seen firing them. Proton Torpedos don't seem to be larger than about. Foot in diameter, maybe less. The concussion missiles on the A-wings are probably even smaller in diameter, but perhaps greater in length. I doubt the capacity of the /SF is more than 2-4 missiles. And we don't know about Mag Pulse being a warhead or an energy weapon...

Good point, just because mag pluse was a warhead in the TIE Fighter video game doesn't mean it's automatically warhead in canon.

Am I the only one who thinks the TIE agressor is ugly?

Oh, ya, sure you betcha. Obscure EU ship is going to beat out the ship flown by one of the heroes in the latest film.

The hilarious part is, the Aggressor is just a modified TIE Advanced that's had parts REMOVED and somehow.

SOMEHOW

That's better than bolt-on mods on a TIE Fighter.

Some-f**king-how.

Yeah, cause it's not crappy First Order colors.

And that's really all it boils down to, isn't it?

"It isn't from the new trilogy, so it's better."

I like the TIE/SF, and dont mind the colors either- or at least not for a special forces ship....beats the heck out of regular Red TIEs.

And I even like the TIE/SF more than the Agressor in looks, same goes for many other video game TIE variants - exceptions would of course be the Avenger, the Defender, the Phantom, and the Interceptor that has the missile pods on it (oh and the gunboat and missile boat- though they arent TIES).

But the new trilogy doesn't have new ships. Just repainted old ones.

Hey, I'd be all for new ships from the new trilogy. But the new trilogy doesn't have new ships. Just repainted old ones.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the T-70 and Tie/Sf (not so much the FO itself) since they have subtle changes to the originals, bu I was hoping for something NEW too!

The Stormtrooper Higgins Boats and the Resistance shuttle dont really count since they arent combat ships or ships that should be anywhere near a combat.

Not to mention they werewere barely seen.

Well they made good ships out of the Lambda Shuttle and HWK-290 so I am sure they could take that B-shuttle and Stormtrooper lander and make some good support ships for Resistance and 1stOrder. (Shame there was no future Y-wing or TIE Bombers in the movie though)

I liked the Stormtrooper Higgins Boat, since it is exactly designed for what its supposed to do. i just was hoping for it to have a defensive gun according to theCross-Section book, oreven an apparent one on the micromachines/in the movie...but nada.

And I was really expecting some sort of B-wing, or Y-wing, or some other biggish style bomber for the T-70s to cover and then have to do the actual work for at Starkiller.

Actually, the top mounted hatch gun can be fired from inside, and we DID see that stormtrooper blasters can damage a starship. While the devs think 1 die attack is a waste, in this case giving a 1 die native turret could work. Make the dropship really cheap, two crew (maybe a boarding action via spacetrooper assault) as a crew. It could work more as a support ship.

The same could be said for the Imperial Shuttle, the TIE shuttle, and the two new ships have weapons, unlike the GR-75.

If the ships are designed in such a way that they provide an interesting effect, then they can show up in game.

My above post explained the function of the Stormtrooper dropship, and the resistance shuttle is a cobbled together from B-wing mk 2 and other parts, but as a support ship it will work.

0 attack dice, turret slot.

Like the HWK should have had.

I think the back of the ship and the "arms" are different enough to grant a new miniature. Particularly considering that Poe's Xwing has a new model. The main problem they will have is how to add the turret with the peg.

Im sure they will release a ship with Kylo Ren's shuttle and the SF TIE Fighter.

I expect a 45 degree angle peg sticking out of its colon upon release.
