*spoilers* Special Forces TIE/sf is surely coming to X-wing, but how?

By dewbie420, in X-Wing

Minor retooling, not a new sculpt. See Combiner Wars Alpha Bravo vs. Blast Off.

Wouldn't surprise me if the /SF is just a major retool of the /fo (ala Rook into Swindle)

Sure - I'm not aware what the correct terminology is, I was just using FFG's wording. The point was however, Gabe was clinging to the belief that the final model was unchanged apart from the dish and a repaint, which it is clearly not - as stated by FFG and backed up by the image shown.

especially now that they have the mouses whole arm up their butt.

It would be a prettier miniature if they pull off a new sculpt,

and I'd be pleased with that. But I can't/won't/don't have faith in it.

I don't. Why would you eat TIEs?

Because TIE food is delicious!

f97e60c45e1c3d6311439e68b4a70c0f.pngSorry dude, 15 minutes too late.

Great minds think alike?

All wrong just too much that is in contradiction with TFA: 3 firepower, no; T-65 health, no; missiles and cannon slots, wrong ship; >30 points, NOPE just a total NO!

Technical readout says it DOES carry missiles, IN the turret. Mag Pulse are mentioned by name in the film(though not shown being used).
Where was the missiles and mag pulse?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y2FtbqJ-6E

That's right it was fired AT the TIE Fighter.

As for tehcnical readout you referenced it has about as much credibility as this books seen below.

9780345449023_p0_v1_s192x300.jpg

and since that book has the Vong in it the credibility level is not much.

No missiles, no cannon. put a turret slot on the blasted thing, and don't try and make it a 3 agility X-wing.

It might help to actually watch the movie, as opposed to a poorly cut youtube video that has edited the footage together and cut some parts.

Could you please show me a clip from the movie of the TIE-FO/SF firing missiles then?

https://youtu.be/fSV-Hj3xYlw?t=30

Poe says IN THE MOVIE "Use the toggle on the left to switch between missiles, cannons and mag pulse, sight on the right to aim, triggers to fire." Finn just never uses the missiles.

Yet another arrogant dickbag flaunting their incorrect "knowledge" as gospel law... did you even watch the movie?

Not that it will convince him, but...

EDIT: Dangit, ninja'd!

Yeah, canonically - as in IN THE ACTUAL MOVIE - the TIE/sf has missiles and mag pulse in the turret.

Yes, I know it's ridiculous. What can I say? Only thing I can think is that when they were filming that scene, they were assuming the external model was more like the heavier TIE/sf from the concept art, rather than the 'standard TIE/fo with cogs on it'...

...maybe that thing had a bigger turret on it?

Poe specifically tells Finn (who's manning the turret because that's what the back-seat gunner does) to toggle between guns, missles and mag-pulse. The cross-sections say there's a single warhead launcher for concussion and mag-pulse missiles, and the only place for that launcher is between the turret's laser cannons.

Given the relatively small size of the turret, that means either very small capacity or very small missiles. (As in, tiny like the Inquistor TIE's S-thread trackers.) Or both.

What the hell? Hold on, this is actually a debate?

This one actually looks like it could mount a 360 firing gun, too.

It's such a shame it didn't get used :(

I know, right?

When they say, "it should be a title" and come up with some bogus reason for it, I hear "I don't want to buy any more TIE fighters."

Well, yeah. Pretty much.

Or you could be more generous and say "I wish all my TIE Fighter pilots worked with the /fo"

I would have loved to be able to upgrade Howlrunner to an /fo with a title card.

I would take Dark Curse as an FO with Comm Relay. *evil chuckle*

On that note, they should remove the B-Wing from the game, and just make it a title for the X-Wing...

All TIE Fighters, all the time.

I actually do want a seperate model for the /SF. I don't want it to be just a title, it's too iconic. It is a shame the concept art wasn't fleshed out and used to give us an truly bad ass TIE, but the one we got packs a punch. It should have a slightly better dial than the /fo, maybe one more green straight. A turret slot with Heavy Weapons Turret upgrade that only the /SF can equip, granting missile and torpedo slots, and increasing att with primary in arc. Only 2 dice out of arc, but allows missile and torp to be fired out of arc as well. System and tech slot. Crew slot. This thing will be one fat TIE if fully loaded.

I think it's hull and shield should be equal to the Advanced, it's basically serving the same function but with turret and non-sh*tty damage output. 3 hull 2 shield will not 'make it a 3 Agi X-wing'.

That Heavy Turret will probably be pricey as well, and the base /SF will probably be around 20 pts. Adding Turret and Gunner will push it at least into the 30s, with aces maybe going into the 40s. I just don't see a way this ship will be cheaper.

Blech on the turret... aux arc or go home. The game needs absolutely zero more turrets of any sort.

I want to give it the turret slot but make it unable to fire out of arc. Which is weird I know, but I want Imperial stresshogs finally, a wave after they've more or less stopped being useful.

Or make a Twin Laser Cannon and give it cannon slot and the ability to fire secondaries in its rear arc.

Yeah giving the empire a single small turret ship would be game breaking right brah...turrets are here but only for 2/3 factions and it's an area imps really lag behind.

Giving us one hardly balances things but it'd unlock a few play styles denied us.

I'd like an aux and front arc locked turret that had a BTL-4 like effect where you could either primary shot, turret shot. OR, if you had a TL you could Primary, then missile shot.

This has probably been said already, but I'd like it to have a front and rear arc like the firespray.

Difference would be you get 3 attack dice in the front arc and 2 in the rear. That represents the main guns and turret firing together in the front arc.

Then let missiles shoot both forward and backward as well.

Turret slot would be far easier to implement as well as less fiddly than a small base aux arc.

The turret is reserved for the TIE Aggressor.

Am I the only one who thinks the TIE agressor is ugly?

Am I the only one who thinks the TIE agressor is ugly?

I also think it isnt the prettiest of ships.. To me it looks like someone just took the Advanced X1 and chop shopped it....though the same can be said with many TIE variants.

However, I do like its wings.

Waaaaahhhh! My Imperial ships that do things that other factions can't, can't do a thing that other factions can!

Listen pal. If you want imperial turrets, you better start asking for some Rebel/Scum small ship arc-dodgers too. It's only fair.

Oh, ya, sure you betcha. Obscure EU ship is going to beat out the ship flown by one of the heroes in the latest film.

I'm not a fan of it but it's got far more logical placement of the turret considering the wings are cut out to give it a field of fire that doesn't blow off its wings. /sf should be front/rear arc, end of story.

You know, now with the V1, the Aggressor looks like a go-between with the TAP and Vader's X1 Advanced. Almost like a planned progression....

Impossibru!

What's an A-wing? what's a K-wing? What's a B-wing? What's an E-wing? What's a T-70?

All of those can arc dodge either with boost, barrel roll or slam.
