*spoilers* Special Forces TIE/sf is surely coming to X-wing, but how?

"Use the toggle on the left to switch between missiles, cannons, and mag pulse -- use the site on the right to aim, triggers to fire!"

What is mag pulse?

A warhead that shut down the weapon systems of the target ship when it hits. (In the TIE Fighter game). Since it's listed seperate from missiles it might be a type of torpedo. Or in TFA it might be like an EMP weapon.

They just did - on a new T-70 sculpt and a new YT-1300 sculpt

Nope, same sculpt.

You're confusing the painting process with the molding process.

The Falcon antenna is attached afterwards, lol.

Nope, new sculpt.

You're confusing your assumptions with the facts, lol.

First, check the news article (emphasis mine):

First of all, you might notice the ship's new, rectangular sensor array. While this is likely the first change you may notice in the difference between the sculpts, it is not the only one. Heroes of the Resistance introduces a new sculpt and paint scheme for the Falcon that faithfully represent all the changes that the ship underwent between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Second, grab your YT-1300 model and compare it with the highlighted parts of this image:

Wouldn't surprise me if the /SF is just a major retool of the /fo (ala Rook into Swindle)

I don't. Why would you eat TIEs?

Because tie food is delicious.

Great minds think alike?

Dudes... come on.

Minor retooling, not a new sculpt. See Combiner Wars Alpha Bravo vs. Blast Off.

Sure - I'm not aware what the correct terminology is, I was just using FFG's wording. The point was however, Gabe was clinging to the belief that the final model was unchanged apart from the dish and a repaint, which it is clearly not - as stated by FFG and backed up by the image shown.

IF FFG were going to release a tie/SF as a title wouldn't they have released it with the FO?

Or will be waiting for years for maybe an FO aces pack to include this title. C'mon guys, it's a completely different ship. Why would they not releases this ship?

Yeah, the price looks off....

It should be AT LEAST 3 points cheaper.

Yeah, the price looks off....

/SF has a better action bar and likely dial... But I don't think it should be a not-Defender

I think a lot of these cards that people are making for the tie/sf are just too expensive. It is still a tie fighter, which tend to go pop. Too dangerous to be putting their costs up into x-wing territory.

Why not putting it in the Defender level? There are lots of cheap TIEs out there and this is supposed to be an elite starfighter.

Yes, it should be a t Defender level, but not quite that expensive, more of high end interceptor level. TThe problem with putting it at Defender cost, is that it will border on unplayable for quite sometime until they fix it...and that is something I hope they do not do.

Ok, so you take the FO and upgrade from there.

Add a shield

Extra attack die in arc, attacks out of arc 2 dice. (Or rear arc, whatever)

Crew slot. Maybe even a system slot.

Missile slot, maybe torpedo too, depends on what Mag Pulse ends up being.

I say the /SF should have a turret upgrade, with the Heavy Weapons Turret being an /SF exclusive upgrade that allows firing secondary weapons and such out of arc, or increasing the primary attack in arc.

TIE/sf

2 (3 in arc)

3

2

Crew, Tech, System, Missile, Turret

Why not give it a Cloaking Device while you're at it, to out-Phantom the Phantom.

My concern with making it tie defender expensive, is that people would rather just play a tie defender instead.

But this defender will have hard 2 green turns, s-loops and can shoot backwards!

If anything could have been a title, it was the FO. There is more difference between a TIE SF and FO than there is between a FO and Ln.

Well the TIE Shuttle mode is different from the TIE Bomber and there isn't a new model for that.

It depends if the stats are the same then there is no need for a new model. You could just make a title and have a red striped cockpit and call it good.

Now I see some crazy fan made pilot cards with 3 firepower and cannon slots and that is just asking too much from a TIE Fighter. The only stat I could see changing is if it were 4 hull. The aux arc could be a thing as one can admit you can't really shoot through the wings. However the TIE Fighter can pitch and roll so I think we are in agreement that the TIE-SF should have a turret slot. And as a 2 seater a crew slot could be added as well.

All wrong just too much that is in contradiction with TFA: 3 firepower, no; T-65 health, no; missiles and cannon slots, wrong ship; >30 points, NOPE just a total NO!

Also missing a turret slot, Yeah I know about the whole wing getting in the way but the TIE Fighter can still pitch and roll and the Imperials desperately need a turret slot. A crew slot might not be warranted but it would fit way better than cannon and missile.

Technical readout says it DOES carry missiles, IN the turret. Mag Pulse are mentioned by name in the film(though not shown being used).

Where was the missiles and mag pulse?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y2FtbqJ-6E

That's right it was fired AT the TIE Fighter.

As for tehcnical readout you referenced it has about as much credibility as this books seen below.

9780345449023_p0_v1_s192x300.jpg

and since that book has the Vong in it the credibility level is not much.

No missiles, no cannon. put a turret slot on the blasted thing, and don't try and make it a 3 agility X-wing.

Edited by Marinealver

Marinealver, the Technical Readout that DarthEnderX is referring to is in the TFA cross-section book...not the Essential guide.

It has a missile loadout.

Ohh and personally i'd like to see it have a cannon slot over a turret, but inthe same way that I've said before, in an Aux arc, or hell even the way Dash does it, where his cannon is 360degree. That could be quite interesting.

It might help to actually watch the movie, as opposed to a poorly cut youtube video that has edited the footage together and cut some parts.

Could you please show me a clip from the movie of the TIE-FO/SF firing missiles then?
