SirWilli's Workshop: Armada stuff

By SirWillibald, in Star Wars: Armada

SirWillis, I am a huge fan of these. Thank you.

I am not currently home so I can't post a pic for you. I can do so around midnight tonight (approximately 8 hrs).

On a different note, anyone else have an issue with the nebulon b and corvette boxes not being long enough? Or am i just making mistakes in the folding of the boxes?

Check your .pdf program. Most of them default to printing at 96%, which is going to cause issues.

Alright, going to do that right now, just finished an extensive update of my X-Wing stuff. Thanks!

Am I right that both ships come with 3 defense tokens?

Saw that! already snagged the tourney boxes. gonna need more printer ink cartridges at this rate! Thanks again!

And yes, both ships have 3 defense tokens

On 2 of the 4 types of fighter mounts....the B-Wings will not fit into the storage boxes. I can take pics if that helps. They need to be a bit taller for the B-Wings.

Sorry to hear, can you tell how much mm are missing? Changing that won't be a big problem.

I'll measure in the morning. I'd say 3 from memory. 5 to give it some space.

See, that's the problem with releasing stuff in advance...

Have to quote myself, I checked this issue with my german Armada forum and only got feedback about the core set hangars being slightly to small (like for the TIE Fighter on the highest stand) for the B-Wings, but not that much. The new wave 1 hangars already are a tad higher. Perhaps this could be a printing issue? If not printed at 100% you won't notice immediately, but it would explain that 3-5mm are missing. Anybody else any insights?

*sigh* I knew it would have been better to wait till I actually have them, makes things like this so much easier...

Do not mistake me, I'm more than willing to change the box, I just want to avoid confusion and update after update.

Totally understand you. I'm working on like 42 boxes that I got for my extra core set plus 2 of each expansion and will post up some pics.

Nice!

Zounds, man. You do great work.

The squadrons are just sort of piled in wherever there is space. Meanwhile the clam shells the ships are in take up way more space than the microhangars will. I'm curious to see if it will even out. I'm also dreading unpacking it to play tonight as I haven't done so since I packed it all up.

That's why I asked SirWillibald to make the squadron carry boxes, because I ran across the same problem. The .pdf allows you to make 4-, 6-, 8-, or 10-squadron boxes.

My problem is I don't have the boxes yet. My squadrons are literally in a gap filling pile, tangled together and resting on each other. You could reach in and grab a handful of plastic. If I printed squadron boxes for them now, they wouldn't fit in the core set boxes due to the extra large plastic clam shells that the ship expansions come in. I can't take the ships out of those because microhangar boxes are not available yet for the wave 1 only ships.

My concern is that the space saved by the ship microhangar boxes (once I get them) will not be enough to accomodate 60 squadrons in their boxes (as that is how many I have, soon to be 68 when I pick up my final Imperial squadron pack).

Wave 1 GearBoxes are done:

Have fun! And report any mistakes, I couldn't test with actual wave 1 stuff...

The GSD and the Nebulon-B have identical components. Same for the VSD and Assault Frigate.

Yes, I know, but I got a PM from a fellow german player telling me about the fin of the

Mk II being somewhat curved. Does it fit anyway?

Yes, I just tested it with one of my VSD gear boxes, and there's no problem. The medium-sized boxes are rather roomy :) . Also, the GSD has a fin rather than a peg, although it's a little more snug.

Did you confirm that the PDF is printing at 100% and not fit to page scaling. I think I had the same deal with those two ships the first time I printed, but not so with the others. When I confirmed the scaling size, it is a perfect fit.

Wow, guys. I feel silly for not even realizing that, lol. Thanks a bunch!

Ok, could have a tad more height, you're right. But judging from the photo I'd say 2mm should be enough?

@All:

There was a small mistake in the GSD GearBox, it showed a rebel logo... Very sorry, updated to v1.1

And ****, forgot to check for the pole/fin thing. The GSD has a pole, not a fin, did understand that correct? I'll add that to my list, think it's not that big an issue :)

EDIT:

Hmm, looked again at the photos, seems more than 2mm. But it shouldn't be that much. What exactly is the height of your hangar? It should be 6.1cm or 2.4 inches (between 2 3/8 and 2 7/16 inch, if I calculated correct). You're box seems to be a bit lower.

Nah, sorry, that's what I meant. I wrote "pole" on the box, but it should read "fin". Got it now.

I'll measure it this morning, but they all are exactly the same size

I'll verify the B-Wings tonight, as I have a second set of each fighter squadron pack to put together.

My B-wings fit into the hangars just fine....as in, with about no room to spare. But the lids close flat and all is groovy. Had to make sure the models were seated into the pegs all the way. And yes, I had to reprint a bunch of sheets when I accidently selected "Print to fit" instead of "Actual Size" during printing. One of my friends pointed out my error when he couldn't get his ships to fit with the stuff I'd printed.
