The Off-Topic Garbage Thread

So the question is, "What form will 'bringing back the Specialist line' take?" Will they be re-releasing the old games? Or new updated versions? Will there be new figures? Dare we hope for new Necromunda and Mordheim terrain kits?

One of the intents of the original Specialist line was to serve as a 'training ground' for new writers, artists, and sculptors, before 'graduating' to the big leagues of true 40K ; I wonder if that will continue...?

New figures and terrai kits. judging by what we've seen with age of sigmar, I'd be inclined to say "yes". Altough it might be only availabe "while supplies" last. (Wich is what they did for some AOS terrain. Wich is a bit mental on one hand, but means it wont take up to much warehouse space if it doesn't sell.)

GW will probably let the 12 year old they got to come up with the AoS fluff loose one the specialist games. ;)

I'm not saying the Middenheimers will end up looking like space wolves, but that could be a worst case scenario...

Is anyone else stoked about the upcoming Doctor Strange movie? I've liked most of the Marvel movie series, and I've been very curious how they can work the supernatural into what has been, up 'til now, a purely sci-fi universe.

My only complaint about the previews I've seen is the casting of the Ancient One- replacing the comics' elderly Tibetan man with a middle-aged Brit woman is pretty irritating, since it's nakedly an example of China flexing its muscle to force Hollywood to practice self-censorship- in this case, denying that (Chinese-occupied) Tibet exists.

- Lack of depth in the percentile system, which causes Tests to go abruptly from 'rarely succeed' to 'rarely fail', with minimal time in the dramatic 'sweet spot' in between.

Don't bottle neck rolls > meaning > the "intent" whatever that may be succeeds (thus the plot moves forward) - meaning all rolls will garner the desired effect - problem is when a "fail" is rolled - complications arise towards that realization of the Test...

Social Roll Failure > I get the info on a basic level or I bypass the person in front of me - but now since I failed the Test > someone is told "hey that guy over there was asking about X Y Z" and or you get past the guard but as you walk away he radios in your arrival to someone...

After intially running this game system - I saw the percentage deal as being problematic as well > at least in this play style - the intent of the idea the player comes up with is realized and for you as GM you have a tool by which to introduce meaningful consequences to player actions aka Risk vs Reward...

Just an idea - don't shoot me with your bolter please?

Recently I came across some player dissatisfaction based upon the nature of some high ranking NPC types - figured I'd share the topic and see how the rest of you do and think of the topic?

Off topic - as GMs how "nice" are the NPCs in your game?

How often does betrayal come into play?

Do you play by Machiavellian standards?

How do your NPCs act when it comes to high stakes?

Do your players have "friends" in your campaign? (i'm not talking allies - actual friends)

Thoughts?

Off topic - as GMs how "nice" are the NPCs in your game?

They run the full gamut from genuinely cooperative and deferential all the way to utterly vile and evil.

How often does betrayal come into play?

In the last 27-ish sessions that I've run, I can only think of one incident that I would call 'betrayal'; and even that instance is a bit of a stretch since the PC's barely knew the person.

Do you play by Machiavellian standards?

How do your NPCs act when it comes to high stakes?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by either of these, but I think they're covered by my first answer.

Do your players have "friends" in your campaign? (i'm not talking allies - actual friends)

On average, my PC's are only on a given planet for 3 or 4 sessions before the job is done and its time to move on to the next one. That said, some of them have indeed made some friends along the way.
