STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

I'm pretty sure a 72 year old was not a worse liability to the stealthy commando team than a shiny golden who doesn't shut up or the principal cast which has no real reason to be there other than they happen to be the heroes. I mean Han and Chewie, sure, they did missions like that all the time but Luke should have been in an X-wing and Leia should have been anywhere else, because do we see anybody like Madine or Mon Mothma during the battle on Home One? Nope, they wouldn't be any good during the battle.

Anyway, I'm all for Rex being Willie Nelson: Rebel Commando

Maybe taking out the Chip stops the advanced Growth rate? O_o

Just joined the forum, mostly because the Rebels episode with Hera made me really interested in the Star Wars ships, and you guys seem to know alot about that stuff. And I'm also very curious about everyone's opinons on Star Wars. But anyways Rebels.

So what's different between the B-Wing in Rebels and the usual ones?

Rex is 28 when Kanan and Ezra meet him, but 56 physically.

The Kaminoans doubled the aging process for Clones.

There may be some advances that could help stop the accelerated aging that Rex and his crew couldn't use since they were in hiding, but since joining the rebels maybe there's a way to help Rex, slowing his aging to only 1.5 times normal, or rejuvenating him to tak about 10 years off. I dunno. Bacta, it's a hell of a drug!

No wonder Boba Fett kept his helmet on all the time, his face would be the most famous face in the Galaxy after all the clones retired. I'm sure he didn't like looking at all those guys aging and reminding him of his dad who never got to grow old.

Nope, he took out his chip before the end of the CW, and has clearly aged more than the 15 years between that and Rebels.

That's...... surprisingly deep

Reckon Lucas did that accidentally or on purpose?

I'm sure it never occurred to George. He just included Baby Fett so that his story 'rhymed' with Anikin's. The fact that Boba only had a father and Ani only had a mom might have been a conscious choice but who knows.

I guess we know what Boba looks like in the Post RotJ world, assuming he survived the Pit of course.

Remember that Boba was an unaltered clone. No rapid aging for him.

But didn't they say that Jango picked a Clone to be his son? so did they have a way of stopping the aging process?

Jango's son was given an unaltered clone per his request, the boy aged normally thru out his life.

But didn't they say that Jango picked a Clone to be his son? so did they have a way of stopping the aging process?

No they just didn't tamper with his genes. All the other clones had all sorts of changes made them including the accelerated aging to grow them up in half the time. I don't know if SW tech has any way of altering genetics after fertilization.

So Boba was decanted or whatever in 32 BBY, so if he survived the Sarlacc Pit, if he turned up in the new trilogy he'd be in his early 60's by that time... pretty close to the (physical) age of Rex during the Rebels series' timeline.

Boba was a clone of Jango, but like Darius said, he did not have the rapid aging protocol in place. So by the time he would appear in the new Trilogy he would be around the age of Rex (a bit older) in Rebels. Boba is about 15 or so years older than Luke and Leia so he should be about the same age as Han in The Force Awakens.

I'm not great at Clone Wars lore. Only watched 2.5 seasons so far..

The clone aging speed is said to be double a regular person? How long does that accelerated aging last though? Is it confirmed to be permanent or does the effect stop or finish as they age?

That he could be the commando in the pic is awesome but a 72yr old commando? Dubious. If he is physically say mid to late 50s that would be more realistic for a combatent.

There are examples of older but they are pretty rare.

I believe the accelerated aging lasts for a clone's entire life. Looking for a possible cure was a major plot line in the Republic/Imperial Commando series of books. Unfortunately both of those series of books were never completed by the author so we never found out whether or not they found a cure for the accelerated aging.

Here's Rex at the Rebel gym on Home One!

Now what was this about too old? He's a Clone Trooper and if he started to train again this would not be hard for Rex. o-OLD-BODYBUILDER-ON-REDDIT-facebook.jpg

This guy is 77!

Old guy pron, never would have guessed I would see that on this forum.

Just more evidence for Rex on Endor! Awesome!

If you want to know....(star wars aftermath spoilers)

A special chapter is dedicated to two guys picking through a Sandcrawler and finding a full set of Mandolorian iron with dents and something like acid smeared all over it. One of them takes the armor to become a new deputy of his mining guild. (takes place on Tattooine).

Probably Boba's armor, but he's probably also alive.

Hey, I recognise this guy:

He played Thor in Kung-Fury! He'd probably make an amazing live-action Old-Rex.

(Sorry, it's a little off-topic. I'm allowed one every once in a while right?)

oh god why

Bet you that little human force-sensitive child was a baby Kyle Katarn!

Before they rescued it, I was laying odds it was Mara Jade.

I agree it's weird that the baby was left in the TIE unguarded. derpaderp. We don't know there is a Star Destroyer in orbit though, Seventh Sister contacts a commander for reinforcements but they could easily and most likely given their manner of arrival have been ground based. May not have been an option to leave the baby on a Star Destroyer as they may have left it behind after taking the first baby. Doesn't explain why they left it unguarded though. A group of stormies forming a perimeter around the Inquisitors TIE's surely would have been expected. In fact I'd think Imperials have their own spaceport/landing areas away from civilian ones. Oh well plot convenience over rules that. Still have to remember it's a kids program at the end of the day. Most won't even think about things that deeply.

Most kids will be too busy at the end of the episode thinking Ahsoka is a badass to worry about this stuff. Ahsoka is though and I especially liked her entrance with the wink. Such confidence in her ability. Talking of Derpaderp though, she has all the time In the world to end Seventh Sister, really should have done so but I suppose the inquisitor being 'helpless' could be said to have stayed her hand.

As to Ezra giving way their location to the probe droid. He knew the Inquisitors were around but he hadn't seen the drone. You have to remember he is young. Loose tongues cost lives. I have no trouble imagining a teenager speaking without thinking, heh some people don't lose that knack at any age. He could have been bluffing but having it be a genuine slip is both believable and plot convenient.

God episode if you look past the plot convenient holes.

Eh I try not to look to deeply, not just for the sake of being blissfully ignorant, but just because some specific scenarios could of been ment as subtle implication rather then as a plot device. For example, the Sith have by their nature always been portrayed as self centered, arrogant, and independent. They don't ask for help, they manipulate or demand. Leaving the baby behind with nothing more then a drone for defense could of been a means to show the inquisitors contempt for a job they find beneath them, but as something not to be trusted to the bumbling line fodder of the Imperial navy. Or it could of just been a plot convenience, heh.

If any of the plot points so far have struck me as super, glaringly bad, it was the one with Sabine and her old friend. Entire thing felt off. She goes from being 2 seconds away from spacing Sabine, a litte later was ready to leave her passed out on the exploding ship if Chopper didn't refuse to leave, and then she has the most random change of heart and decides to give up her prize, and even drop it off and join the rebels?

I'm gonna be surprised if this isn't a setup for betrayal. Wasn't the only thing off about that episode, just one of the most glaring.
