STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

That is also a fair way to look at it.

Could some one please help me post of all the new ships that Rebels has enabled for both X-wing and Armada? I was going to start a new thread dedicated to what's in the ship works so to speak

Armada:

-Interdictor Star Destroyer

-Arquitens-class Cruiser

-C-ROC Transport

-Phoenix home

X-wing:

-Rebels version A-wing(?)

-Prototype B-wing(?)

-Imperial Sentinel shuttle(Guessing is coming soon as wave nine with some Epic interaction possible)

-CR-90 with carrier bay or docking clamps style/Phoenix Home(Epic, unfortunately not nearly probable enough)

-C-ROC Gozanti Cruiser(Epic, shows up several times as a Scum or neutral)

-Personal Luxury yacht 3000(Large, two seperate ones show up in 'brothers of the horn' I think)

-Shadow Caster (Large, Scum, wave ten I'm thinking, it will get more screen time between now and then)

-Imperial Police Gunship (Small, not likely, not much known of capability, especially space worthiness.)

Plus there's a crap ton of new crew possible. Guess I'll have to start it as a multi section FFG to do list.

You also have the GX1 Short Hauler ( http://www.starwars.com/databank/gx1-short-hauler ) as a scum ship. It's an old favorite of mine. I'm glad that it is canon again.

Though this variant did not have any weapons and were outfitted as a passenger ship.

This thing was a thing before? huh.

...So it was. Nifty.

Did that get good later? I watched through the first season and wasn't impressed.

Season 2 is the best thing ever.

But then, like Grimm said, season 3 is crap. Because that's when it went from being a daily show in Disney Afternoon to being a Saturday Morning cartoon, and it got retooled into like a completely different show.

Fortunately, Season 2 is 52 episodes long. So it's the majority of the series.

Judging from the third season, I would say NO!

Tentative yes if we could all go back and pick up from the second season.

Well, Weisman doesn't consider Season 3 to be canon. And the comics he wrote continue from the end of Season 2.

That was an Immoblizer 418 Interdictor Cruiser or maybe an Immoblizer 419 or 418-II but it was not an Interdictor Star Destroyer.

The officers robbing a farmer wasn't ruthlessness, that was pettiness.

Transformers survived 3 seasons after the movie, and had some dark and scary moments (come on, i was what? 6).

Personally, all I want is the heroes to get winged a bit. The last ep was a good one, as was the B-wing ep.

Blood Sisters however......... that drives me crazy.

Also, we know Rebels and TCW can do Dark.

Rewind to rebels 1st season 3rd Ep, sorry but dat's dark. What about the later seasons of TCW? Characters we've watched grow as characters tend to get killed off, some by their own clone brothers .

I like it for the same basic reason that I like the Clone Wars. Rebels shows what the oppression of the Empire looks like; Clone Wars shows what life in the Republic looks like. Also the character interaction is really funny.

Gravity Falls is a gem. It lacks obvious appeal for an older demographic, but well worth giving a shot. I'll probably buy the complete series knowing its only 2 seasons. If nothing else, Rumble McSkirmish is one of my favorite things ever.

Also, Transformers only survived the movie in Japan. It died off the next year in the US.

I'm UK based, or was at the time and G1 lasted to at least 88, some of the eps were pretty cool... the tombship with the corpses of autobots sticks out in my memory.

Also, to be fair. The UK comic run of G1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>us (spelled in lower case to highlight how lame the comic run was in comparison.

I mean the Time travelling arc with everyone vs Galvatron AND Megatron (spoilers from 1988?)

Starscream becoming OP... the undead transformers mini arc... deaths head... Circuit Breaker!!!

Seriously, the PDF's are sure to be found on line, worth a look.

One show I will be sad to see go from the Disney XD lineup is Gravity Falls. The creator of the show said that it will be ending after season 2 after they take care of Wierdmageddon. I know most here will probably not like the show but that's cool by me. I enjoy it and that's what matters in the end.

My daughter Delenn and I really like Gravity Falls and are sorry to see it ending after only two seasons as well. But at least it gets the story the creator wanted to tell completed.

Jim

I like the reasoning behind the end of the show. It covered a single summer spent by twins with their Gruncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon. Summer's over and it's time to go back to their family in California.

With how much they raised the stakes this season, there is no possible follow up that would be worthy. They even broke the internal rule of no aliens.

Speaking of the Arquitens, I was hoping it would be another Epic contender later on down the road but unfortunately it seems to be about twice the size of a CR90...... Thats a shame its such a good looking vessel.

Yeah might be too big. I'm still hoping for a Raider appearance in Rebels

The reason we are seeing troopers having their armour pierced by weapons rebs are using is becausevthey are using really powerful anti-armour blaster weapons. Even then they have a limited range in thatbthey will be effective agianst standard storm trooper armour.

I don't know if anti-armour blasters has much to do with it. The amour couldn't even stand up to an Ewok slingshot. It may be all plot device which is a bit of a shame really.

"This armor doesn't protect you from anything!"

This is more the truth. The armor is for terror tactics and to protect the individual against brief vacuum or environmental exposure perhaps.

Not really sure.

Well, accoring one of my Old DK books, Stormtrooper Armor does not deflect direct blaster bolts, but glancing shots and shrapnal.

I dont recall a slingshot being effective against storm trooper armour, in that it broke through storm trooper armour. Closest i have seen any ewok getting through storm trooper armour was when an ewok got up to point blank range and released its arrow around the black body glove area. I am not sure it got through though because the trooper didnt react to being hit by it, a few seconds later something exploded by him and he screamed and fell. I think he was killed by the explosion.

My reference is star wars blueprints rebel edition page 21 Blastech a280

Both weapons are designated "longblasters," designed and engineered for stopilping long range targets. Just a side note, it mentions the dlt-20a as the model the a280 is based on.

Page 24 blastech a280.

Heavier than the e-11, the a280 has a range of 300 meters (980 feet), can pierce stormtrooper armour at 150 meters (490 feet)

I know i red somewhere the mark vi armour used by stormies in rotj had shield generators that the could activate if they were attacked by someone with a light sabre. I know officers and other speciality troopers had shields.

Nifttacular. Niftous. Saturated with nift. Nifty. (I love that word. :P )

Wednesday is not far off, we will see what trends continue soon. ^_^

@ BKL: maybe you should spend less time with questionably edited and 'researched' coffee table reference books and, you know, watch the movies?

Ewoks didn't use Dennis the menace slingshots, they used slings which can fire stones or clay and metal bullets at lethal speeds. Remember little David vs a certain philistine? Companies of slingers were a real thing on anciant battlefields and the Ewok warriors who were actually proficient in slings appeared to be very accurate and effective in incapacitating Stormtroopers, if not wounding or killing them. Wicket W. Warlock not as much.

*Warwick (where I hail from, actually).

It's true, slings were a real thing and effective.

and you'd think utterly useless vs battle armour .

Concussion hurts like hell.

the impact just gets transferred to you.

Football players wear helmets and still get concussed from glancing blows. It's fair to assume targeted projectile attacks on a battle helmet are a threat.

That's fair enough. I suppose it's why Hammers and Maces were so effective in medieval times, and why we keep seeing stormtroopers / ATAT pilots get punched out/smacked on dashboard all the time.

Coup-counter coup injuries on the brain occur no matter how hard the helmet. You need some good padding, and even then your brain still sloshes up against the skull sometimes.

I dont recall a slingshot being effective against storm trooper armour, in that it broke through storm trooper armour.

It didn't break through, but it still knocked out the stormtrooper.

If the armor doesn't protect the trooper from being rendered combat incapable from an attack, then it doesn't really protect from that attack.

Ergo, Slingshots > Stormtrooper armor.

And the Stormtroopers ran for cover when the Ewoks were dropping hand-held rocks on them. Stormtroopers didn't seem to be able to shoot anything and the armor didn't appear to be even useful. Seemed odd to me when I watched the movie.

The Stormtroopers were equipped with plot armor. It doesn't do anything at all and in fact is often fatal to the wearer.

Most armor doesn't allow you to take a hit and keep on fighting. It usually just allows you to take a hit and go home alive.

Legends sources (for what it's worth) agree with this, with stormtroopers being shot having the energy spread out around their armour - probably getting bad burns but usually surviving.
