It felt authentic. It was just average joes traveling in a nice space mobile home, doing what they did to get by. Some of which had previously fought the government and were essentially rogues on the run.
It was fantastic because it wasn't a typical sci-fi show about how they're there to save the universe, how they're the ones who will stop the ____ from _____, and so on. No, the were just average guys in space.
Even in the film they continued being that, despite being big **** heroes. They just got involved in something bigger, and
faded right out of it at the end.
STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!
Do you guys seriously like Farscape? A NASA rocket scientist friend of mine was mental over the show. I could not stand it. I honestly saw no appeal in the show what so ever.
I had to watch the show through twice before I could make up my mind, but in the end, yes, I ended up really liking Farscape.
Far scape was awesome, it worked because the crew couldn't stand each other they were a bunch of aliens flung together by circumstances beyond their control and grew to be a family all be it a messed up one.
What's more it didn't always end happily they lost plenty of fights, too often the heroes win with no permanent scars but criton and his friends don't emerge from their misadventures untouched, characters die and suffer they don't just get over whatever trauma they suffered that week.
It didn't get cancelled because it was unpopular, it was the highest rated show on sci-fi but the excecs wanted to put a cheaper program on at that time.

God dammit.
That sucks. I really hate execs.
Just a heads up, had a look see at the Rebels visual guide. Pretty much everything we knew already is confirmed in this book. However...
*ISD appear weaker than the ISD we see in the movies, broadsides look puny.
* its written know on wookiepedia every lightsabre is plasma because of this book which is bs. Only one character has there sabre labled as plasma.
*IMP pilots not so good because no need for practice because lack of fighting.
That least one. I'd buy that. What resistance do they really ever get?
They should have called it by it's real name:
Star Wars: Firefly
... and that was a tired cheap-ass soap-shlock of a show that is WAYyyy over rated.

Nothing is happening... ever! Every show was just talking and some stern looks or bizarre smiles.

It needed to be cancelled as fast as it was.

I love that guy... and the show could of been badass, like the film was.
![]()
What's great about the show is that it's NOT "badass" like the film was.
I never knew Firefly Haters were a thing. Huh. Lookithat.
I imagine that the Venn diagram of Firefly Haters who think Serenity was "badass" and the people who paid to watch, and enjoyed, "The Hobbit" movies and everything Michael Bay ever made is just a picture of a circle, so I'll still sleep okay.
I'd say you all just missed the point.
Oh I got it, but it was just boring. I despise the hobbit farce, and no it did not get any better with that second travesty. It sucks like the prequels suck.

Also people who think that people who do not love what they love are dumb... yeah they suck too.

Joe, saying a show "sucks" without quantifying why it sucked is like smashing a boulder with a sledgehammer in a cul de sac. It accomplishes nothing, makes a lot of empty noise, and generally tends to annoy people more often than it makes people like you.
What people are criticizing is not that you don't like the show, but that you're ostensibly pretty shallow in your viewing of it. You think nothing ever happened (blatant lie, there), people just sat around an talked (the last episode was hardly this), and your only specific complaint is simply a stylistic disagreement.
If you don't like the style, just say so without blathering on about how much "it sucks". Or at least try to have a semblance of substance to your posts when you post something which is obviously inflammatory so it's not immediately obvious that that's what you're doing.

You guys win...
You "Done the unimpressive."
On the way out I was not saying FF sucks, I replied to that ass-head-condicending hobbit michael bay fans are the type of people who are to stupid to love FF comment. That sucks.
The dirty sub-human fanboys are real and they suck.
Two sucks... that's all I put to the whole thing.
I like-love what I do and you can too... I get it, I do not agree with you all the time, and dats dat.
Someone did NOT like Firefly? Wow....
WELL.
WHERE DO I BEGIN? Alright, alright, I know. Nowadays there's not a TON of new info about Rebels to speak of but Hoooooooooooooooly kenobi that finale! That was awesome. The entire season was awesome. The entirety of Rebels, was
awesome.
I am so stoked for Season 2.
And if you guys hadn't seen it at all, I'll leave you with this cool little image I snagged from their facebook page.
This thread is a great example why Lucas said "Screw it, I'm selling it". To live up to the expectations of the fans of Star Wars is **** near suicide.
as the Emperor said "Good. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you."

Funny enough, in interviews just before the sale, he basically said that he was so bitter towards the fans that he wouldn't even think of making any more movies.
Then we find out that he was apparently writing Star Wars 7 when he sold it all to Disney.
Very truth. Much sincere. Wow.
Enough thread derailment. Star Wars Rebels!
Who else thinks more characters from the Clone Wars will make it into Rebels?
I hope so.
I REALLY hope to see some of the surviving clone characters, such as Rex.
I hope to see more of Asajj Ventress. Her story arc in Clone Wars went to an interesting and unexpected place. I'd love to see where it has taken her 5 years
later.
before the Galactic Civil War.
Yes and one of the cast members already mentioned "they have a bigger bounty on their heads" so some good old bounty hunters would make sense...is Ventress still a bounty hunter by the time of Rebels?

Well, they are making a book out of one of her planned arcs. Hired to assassinate Dooku. But gets a romance with Quinlan Vos along the way...

Given where she and Ahsoka left off, I had this vision of the two of them becoming a freelance mercenary duo. I still think it would be cool if Ventress was working with Ahsoka in the fledgling alliance.
Glad to see there are others that enjoyed Ventress. Oooh, maybe the more wealthy benefactors of the Rebel Alliance hire Ventress to perform dangerous missions for them, like they did in the EU with Kyle Katarn.
Don't play X-Wing yet, but I watched the series.
Being that it's a "kids" show, I don't mind the animation. Prefer "Clone Wars" style for cohesion. I guessed that the mysterious contact was Organa. Was excited to see Asoka, being that I didn't finish clone wars series.
2 big issues for me:
first was off putting to even watch the series .. laser wrist "stun" rocket .. seriously, I get he's a kid but atleast make it a cool bracer stun blaster lol.
Second, I don't know how long it took Luke to build his lightsaber, but I feel that was handed to Ezra on a silver platter.
Rest isn't that bad, still better than Ep 1-3 HAHA
As far as good old George, from what I've seen and read. It seems he was set on his own ideas and thats it. I feel that with all the expanded universe stuff that is mostly made up and less supportive of another resource, being that he didn't adapt Ep. I-III to fit previous ICONIC trilogy, it was enough. We won't really know, but hope Dis can bring back that feeling of amazement equal to LotR Trilogy and not Hobbit lol

On your first point, I too had an issue with Ezra's Energy Slingshot. I got over it however when I realized it did just about nothing except stun the incompetent Stormtroopers. Anything else shrugged it off like it was nothing. It was as effective as it was cool.
On your second point, I recall the episodes with the... *ahem*... "younglings" in The Clone Wars were the real "silver platter" moments. Sure, the kids got to build their own lightsabers but they literally had everything they needed available right then. Of course, this kind of makes sense, what with the Jedi trying to be self-sufficient and all that. It's quite possible that Kanan had already taught Ezra how to construct a lightsaber or Ezra figured it out himself with enough tinkering on Kanan's. There are some things they just don't go too into detail on to keep the stories moving at a fairly decent pace.
My main concern with Rebels is what are they going to do with 3 Jedi (well one in training)? You don't hear any mention of any Jedi's surviving the Clone Wars in the OT. Are they all going to be killed off? Go into hiding? You'd think that if Kanan lives he'd be involved in the Rebellion some how and Luke would have known/heard about him. Same for Ezra and Asoka.
I hope they don't make the canon wonky.
Also, I feel like the killed the Inquisitor off too quickly. I wanted to know more about his back story and how there came to be Inquisitors. He might still be alive though...
