STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

Palpatine: '..a legion of my finest troops...'

Imperial Logistics and Personel Officer: 'um, this order to send the Super Death Killers Legion to some sanctuary moon on the edge of the galaxy seems pretty suspect. This might be rebel sabotage to keep our best fighters off the front lines. This request will have to go into further review. I'm sure this unit of raw recruits will do just fine on that forest moon. It's not like there's some major new secret weapon being constructed or tests out there because I don't see anything like that on the books. Done and done.'

Beurocracy at its finest.

Oh jesus christ look I love MLP:FiM and I just got done watching the season finale but please stop clogging the thread.

EDIT: Thank god for the ignore feature. Can't abide anybody who thinks 343Halo is anything more than dreck.

BKL hasn't figured out that nobody gives a flying frak about the drek he posts.

And I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts on the ignore feature here.

Before anh that could happen, after anh the emperor can get whatever he wants. Also they had storm commandos down on endor, maybe navy commandos. Even if they are green they are pretty lethal.

Now as for halo any argument you bring up that 343 has done a bad job with halo i will burn it. Any points you bring up that halo reach being the best, or that previous creators for halo material can do no wrong, even now with their new franchises, i will burn it down as well.

If you want make a separate topic about it. Ps the block does t work, i had blocked you... 2 or 3 weeks ago. I still see you clear as day.

Oh look, BKL has posted again but, thanks to the wonderful ignore feature, I don't have to see the drivel he's posted.

Normally I'd say that it's worth it just in case the ignored poster takes the hint, but in BKL's case I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Could some one please help me post of all the new ships that Rebels has enabled for both X-wing and Armada? I was going to start a new thread dedicated to what's in the ship works so to speak

Armada:

-Interdictor Star Destroyer

-Arquitens-class Cruiser

-C-ROC Transport

-Phoenix home

X-wing:

-Rebels version A-wing(?)

-Prototype B-wing(?)

-Imperial Sentinel shuttle(Guessing is coming soon as wave nine with some Epic interaction possible)

-CR-90 with carrier bay or docking clamps style/Phoenix Home(Epic, unfortunately not nearly probable enough)

-C-ROC Gozanti Cruiser(Epic, shows up several times as a Scum or neutral)

-Personal Luxury yacht 3000(Large, two seperate ones show up in 'brothers of the horn' I think)

-Shadow Caster (Large, Scum, wave ten I'm thinking, it will get more screen time between now and then)

-Imperial Police Gunship (Small, not likely, not much known of capability, especially space worthiness.)

Plus there's a crap ton of new crew possible. Guess I'll have to start it as a multi section FFG to do list.

The Rebels version A-wing (the blue one) is in the Imperial Aces pack, altough I think there are green Awings in the show too, do you mean those?

The Police Gunship is a civilian version/decendent of the LAAT - an atmospheric vehicle that can be dropped from orbit. Probably won't be in either space game.

The Sentinel landing craft is hardly new - doesn't work well with x-wing but could work as a boarding action type squardon in armada.

The Shadow Caster / Banshee is the most interesting ship for x-wing at the moment - Its a new ship class with 2 unique ships with named pilots.

There are a bunch of other shuttle / freighter / treansport / courier ships as well - most of which have appeared in the clone wars.

Seconded.

I've asked the guy to leave countless times.

@Sir Orrin,

The structure of the nose is different in Rebels, not significantly but it is. Paint isn't much different, certainly not enough to justify a single one off pack. Was more interested in pilots and upgrades. Green paint would be sweet though and dove tail nicely with already released product. Low priority on the list I imagine, unless it's paired with something particular.

@hantheman,

The original shuttle never had much to offer initially to the hasn't, don't see any reason why the Sentinel shouldn't make it. Also a fan favorite from what I understand. And at this point the size of a ship is one of the last things I imagine that stops a design. After the Ghost, and the Rebel assault Frigate for Armada I assume they will just find a way, or make a way to get that thing on a stand. Plus the make/model is getting alot of screen time. My money is still firmly on a release sooner than later.

But what are the other ones I'm missing? I'm scratching my brain but not much else is ringing a bell. Definitely making this a thread. Look for it.

BKL. I consider myself largely neutral, and often I post off topic where I shouldn't. You posted ponies in a Rebels thread. That's not drek, that's absolute shite. I mean I like MLP, have a daughter, but come on.

Jesus Unicorn riding, bat man high fiving, thundercat leading christ, enough.

And back to Rebels, I've given up on the blood sisters ep, there is zero reason the Stormtroopers couldn't have stunned her into a coma, suffering minimal casualties. Me, i would just have shot her into apple crisp, and lobbed a thermal det onto the corpse. But there we go...

Well it doesn't help things when people are using the discovery channles documentary about SW tech as the obsolute truth when it comes to the lore. If theres anything I have written you feel is not fitting with what you have seen with SW, be point it out and I will give you a refrence for it.

I am useing primary canon sources first, then secondary. I know howmuch you all hate secondary canon material hence why I put it behind new things.

Rebels comment first

Like I have said before, I find littile joy in this series, it just keeps getting worse in the ways you are pointing out. The first movie seems to be the best part of the series so far because the IMPs actully did pretty good, a good portion of them at least. Its a really really bad thing when your having a VS debate and you can't use your own material to help when these fights. Its bad when the opposing team uses it try and win their argument.

All though the has had "SOME" good parts in it, the rest of it hurts to watch, all I think is damage control when I see this show most the time.

Heres the thing "Hondo Ohnaka" out of the blue made a jab at me with their comment, religion, mlp, and politics don't belong on the x-wing general forums, but anything else does. I really haven't mentioned mlp in this topic, mostly talked about SW tech, and their comment also basically means that BSG belongs on the x-wing general forums, speed racers belongs on the x-wing general fourms, anything else I can think of belongs on the x-wing general forums. Thats like I said a jab at me, and any mlp fan really, and its a false statment.

If anything belongs on the x-wing general forums thats not x-wing, or rebels in this case, it should be things that have crossed over with SW or vice versa. MLP is one, Aliens / AvP / Predator / Prometheus is one, Star Trek is one kinda (because in the 8th movie Lucas Arts put two Falcons in the movie that are fighting the Borg Cube along with the Feds. Transforumers is another, Vader beat the crap out of leader of the Autobots, Wicket based the Insecticons turkey. If theres anything else that has SW crossing over or viceversa I can't remember.

Ether way if that jab hadnt been made at me, no pictures of mlp would be in this topic. It was random and uncalled for.

I really doubt that "possible future writers for SW" will take the advise of a nobody with horrible grammar and spelling.

Considering how awful Wendig's prose is, maybe they already have?

First half: You're right that post was something else.

Second: Man I dunno'. Rebels is weird sometimes.

Wow, maybe those that want a thread for Rebels should just make a new thread. Pfft nah, maybe I'll just use the ignore function. Rediculous to have to though.

As to the latest episodes. It's a shame to see the stormies continue to be inept. I get that a bit of comic relief is good for this type of show but whoever said earlier in the thread about the heroes being defined by their enemies is spot on. The heroes aren't shown in a great light by winning through enemy incompetence. I would like that to change at se point, preferably without having to get Vader involved. Give Kallus some decent competent backup and make the heroes earn their keep.

Ships wise, I loved the latest episode. The Interdictor and gravity well technology is something that is needed to be fleshed out in new canon IMO as it can help make a lot of things make sense in the Star Wars universe. I keep wanting to see the Raider make an appearance. I think I'm right in believing the timelines match up. Maybe Kallus can be granted use of one and it can rip Pheonix squadron a new one and give the proto-B from the other week a challenge. It's not the small fleet the Rebels cell have that is causing the Empire trouble, it's the Ghost and the Awings so it would make sense to deploy one. I hope it happens but of course we have no idea how closely the different areas of canon and storyline telling will be integrated. I just know I want it to happen.

Edit.. I'd also like to see some use of Y's and Z's to fulfil different combat roles rather than rely entirely on A wings.

Edited by kopmcginty

Yeah, Gravity Wells have definitely been drastically expanded upon from their original EU lore.

It used to only be for pulling ships out of hyperspace and preventing them from jumping to hyperspace.

Now it can just do anything that gravity can do. So that scene in the TIE Fighter anime where the Interdictor makes that salvo of torpedoes veer away is totally legit now.

^it was already legit, wasn't it? Might have been EaW, I don't remember exactly, that had Interdictors with a similar ability.

Uwlla Iillor WHEN?

First half: You're right that post was something else.

Second: Man I dunno'. Rebels is weird sometimes.

I try to take it with a grain of salt; but not in an "I excuse this breach of common sense" way.

This is canon yes, but it's all being told from the Rebel's point of view: and it has probably been embellished to make them out as more innocent or heroic than they would be if it was done in live-action.

In a bar somewhere in the outer rim...

"So it turned out that Ezra had been sitting on the messenger the whole time! And just then's when the stormtroopers showed up."

"Cool. So how many stormtroopers did you say you fought?"

"There were at least four, no; six troopers all against the wall firing their blasters at us and screaming " For the Empire! ". It was pretty epic, man."

"Riiight. Ok. Then you said you killed them?"

"Well, I mean I guess you could call it killing; they were trying to kill us though. I think. But when it's seven to one, you gotta take what you can get."

"I thought you said there were four-"

"Who's telling the story here!? It was just like I said: nine troopers. And a captain. A captain too."

Rebel operatives might not make the most reliable narrators. We've seen most of the main characters embellish stories they tell to each other; why not the one they tell us?

"Yeah we totally got rid of that TIE fighter."

Get the picture? ;)

All I'm going to say is that there is a 99.9% probability that Disney and LFL have developed an internal Star Wars bible that is quite literally the encyclopedia of the galaxy, technology, life, the Force, and everything. And that history of the galaxy is going to already be established - at least in broad strokes - all the way out to Episode IX.

Meaning, in other words, that anything that anybody says here will have a less than 0.1% probability of having an impact on anything written for Star Wars canon - and the only reason why the probability is that high is because of rounding errors.

ETA: And if we're lucky, LFL and Disney might eventually publish a watered-down version of this bible as a technical manual, a history of the galaxy, or something similar.
