STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

The love in Star Wars leans more towards being "Warm" than being mushy.

Unless it's unknown innsest... Or when Han grabs Leia at the bunker on Endor. I would of loved to hear the conversation after they called cut for that one.

Sorry if this has been discussed- I searched without any results and read through 10+ pages on this thread but no luck....

Has anyone identified the ship at 1:19 of the NYCC Rebels trailer? It's blue & white and looks like it may dropping bombs- fighting along with the Ghost.

No idea. The trick with Rebels is since they went with a different art style, it could be something we know, but looks just different enough that it's hard to ID.

This thing?

Maybe it's a Mandalorian Shuttle?

Well JJ isn't wrong if that's what he thinks. Tell me: Can you think of one atmospheric battle yet in the trilogies?

There ain't any. It'd be a first, honestly. Which is totally cool.

Battle of Cato Nemoidea in Revenge of the Sith (It's shown during Order 66) and IIRC the escape from Cloud City in Empire Strikes Back.

All five seconds of it. Really it was just a shot of Plo Koon getting bent over.

Just saying it here and now, the inquisitor chick is mad-hot.

Honestly...I never understood, why, in some of the EU stuff that all of a sudden the writers decided to make the Empire out to be racist xenophobes?

Because the Empire was based on the Nazi party and that's what they were. It also made the Empire look worse, and helped explain why the death star is populated almost completely with white males.

You mean people in white armor, and guys in grey suits. No Storm Trooper ever took off his kit on cam, and you didn't see the whole population of the Death Star in one photo.

C'mon, now.

I hope it's Greedo's taxi cab. :D

What really surprised me is that on Rebels Recon, Dave Feloni revealed that the Grand Inquisitor (the Inquisitor that was killed at the end of season 1) was someone that we had previously met on TCW. Any ideas?

Apparently, an abducted kid.

When the trailer first introduced the female Inquisitor, I thought she was going to end up being that Black cadet's missing sister. But she looks to not be human, so I guess that's not the case.

Fun facts: The two new Inquisitors are apparently named Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister.

Seventh Sister a Mirialan. The same race as Luminara and Barriss.

So... The inquisitors do not have identities, or at least personal names. I guess that signifies their total devotion to stamping out the Jedi and promoting the dark side. And it means they don't end up with unpronounceable names like most Star Wars characters.

Well, I'm sure they HAD names. They probably just don't let them use them once they become Inquisitors.

That said, it's kinda weird that they made the Season 1 Inquisitor the Grand Inquisitor. Kinda undercuts the threat when you know all the rest that show up in the series are going to be lower ranked Inquisitors.

I suppose having to fight two at once somewhat mitigates that.

It is probably a form of controlling them. I mean, I would be willing to bet the role of Grand Inquisitor is there only for them to back stab each other for that title. Rather than let them get ideas of going after Vader or the Emperor.

Also, don't forget, Kanan was not actually better than the Grand Inquisitor. He only won in that final duel because the stars aligned just perfectly for everything to go his way. To put it in perspective, if Kanan were a level 5 D&D character, the Grand Inquisitor would probably be level 10+, but in that last encounter, the Inquisitor rolled nothing above a five, and Kanan rolled nothing less than a 15. Sheer dumb luck, and every advantage Kanan could ever want or need against the Inquisitor. In any other situation, the Inquisitor could defeat Kanan with minimal effort. So, while these new Inquisitors won't be as powerful as the original, they'll still be more than enough of a challenge for Kanan in the future.

Kanan gave into his anger.

Kanan took dice out if his Plot-Armour-Pool...!

The Inquisitor was also fairly intimidated- and facing unorthodox techniques. In truth, when was the last time he fought a real Jedi..? An angry one at that..?

Never.

Everyone knows that the Dark Side gives you bonus attack.

In my experience there's no such thing as luck.

Never.

Who knows if he did or not. He was incredibly knowledgable in the lightsaber forms, which would be why when Kanan started using unconventional techniques, he would be thrown off his game a bit.

"The Jedi Knights are all but destroyed, and yet your task is not yet finished, Inquisitor." Darth Vader pretty much outright states that the Inquisitor has slain Jedi Knights in the past. In other words, real Jedi. Kanan was not a real Jedi, since he never even reached the rank of Knight. There were several factors aside from just Kanan's rage boost that allowed him to combat the Inquisitor. Ezra's lightsaber-blaster combo allowed Kanan to have a solid range advantage, since the blaster part couldn't be reflected back at him (The shots just fizzled out against the Inquisitor's lightsaber). Normally the Inquisitor would've just been able to TK him like he did in all their other fights. Remember, every time the Inquisitor has hit Kanan with telekinesis, it's taken Kanan out of the fight for several seconds, sometimes even minutes. And of course, the narrow catwalk they were on didn't do the Inquisitor's acrobatic fighting style any favors. Also, the Inquisitor, like many Dark Siders, is normally a very aggressive duelist, so his defense probably isn't quite up to par. However, Ezra's lightsaber-blaster was able to force the Inquisitor to be defensive for most of that battle, which kept the Inquisitor off balance whenever he tried to take the initiative. When you look at all of the factors objectively, Kanan just flat out had every single advantage he could ever ask for, except for a higher level of skill.

Yeah, he clearly wasn't used to being on the defensive. Since he forgot about the big gaping hole his defensive position left open.

In other words, real Jedi. Kanan was not a real Jedi, since he never even reached the rank of Knight.

That assumes that, in 10 years, he never got good enough to become a Knight on his own.

Jedi Knight is just a rank. It doesn't mean that's your level of skill or mastery with the Force. Especially if there's no one left around to promote you to Knight.

Also the Inquisitor was prone to use intimidation as his default tactic in every fight right up to the end of his last duel. (Even once he was hanging from tge catwalk.)

As effective as it was before it wasn't a good idea in a defending position with his back against the wall versus an opponent in a pure rage mode...!
