What if Thrawn isn't producing a new TIE Fighter? Or, what if it's already done?
What if the TIE Defender plans that were oh so easily attainable, were a red herring?
What if...
What if Admiral Thrawn is actually heading development on the X-Wing?

If he wanted Rebels to escape this time he is very incompetent.

What I'm most excited about is from this week's Rebels Recon.
THIS IS A THEORY. I haven't seen Rogue One or read any spoilers. This is just my Theory.
CHOPPER IS GOING TO BE IN ROGUE ONE.
They shipped Chopper to the UK last summer. I was at Celebration London. I was bummed that I never saw Chopper there. He's my favorite. He wasn't at the Rebels panel, wasn't on the show floor. As far as I know, no one at Celebration saw Chopper anywhere.
Why would they ship him to the UK if he wasn't going to be at Celebration? That's when they were doing RO reshoots I think. Toss him in the background at Yavin base? Hell yeah!
At the end of this week's Rebels Recon, Andi, finally yells at Chopper about being a British pest, and asks him what happened in England. He says something and she acts surprised and then it cuts. The next time we'll have an RR episode will be after we've all seen Rogue One.
I'm so convinced we'll see him in RO. I'm going to be sad if I'm wrong lol. I love Chopper.
hmm, i think your right!
He is. I can confirm that everyone's favorite grumpy, homicidal droid Chopper is in the film. When the comtech comes running out of the tunnel to inform Mon Mothma and Bail Organa about the attack on Scarif, if you look at the lower left corner of the screen you can see Chopper in the shot. It's a bit out of focus but you can see the shape of his head and the dish antenna on top.
I'm really looking forward to see how they tie the show and movie together.

I wanna see battle droids mow down some stormtroopers. That would be awesome.
I want to see battledroids mow down some Rebels. How cool would that be
I manged to see the ghost twice.
The Liberator (Sato's Flagship) appeared a few times, also blew up a tiny bit.
Edit: Cut because really can't get spoilers to work.
Sorry to anyone who read it while I was trying.

I swear that's exactly what I was doing.. I even tried cutting and pasting the **** tags... *Facepalm*
Force only knows what I was doing wrong.

So between the Liberator, two of the three hammer heads, and the VCX, that's pretty solid evidence for pheonix squadron being there (rather than just a cameo of the ship types). Hell were only missing the carrier and the AWings.... At least we know they run out of As eventually
This might explain why we don't see Phoenix Squadron at the Battle of Yavin- even if they survive everything will be down for repairs or simply moving too slowly to get back to Yavin before the Death Star arrived.

I sort of figured that after a battle like that the fleet would be scattering anyway. The alliance has just ripped it's hand an revealed that they had a genuine sizable fleet, then taken heavy losses. I figure a lot of the individual cells will be scrambling to double check their home territories and lay low for a bit, or relocating in case the Death Star heads to their kneck of the woods next.
If nothing else imagine the moral hit of jumping out only to discover that a good deal of the fleet you expected to be following you, including the flag ship, never shows up. That's going to cause panic.

If I remember correctly, I think a few CR-90s, GR-75s, and hammerheads (plus a decent amount of fighters) make it out of the system before Vader shows up guns blazing. I would assume that the fleet is being kept in a different system from Yavin, considering we never see it there in Rogue One or in ANH.

that's always been my head canon about the rebel fleet. Its held away from the ground and HQ forces to make it harder to find them all. A fleet doesnt need a planet that's even remotely habitable so has many more hiding places than the people on the ground.
I think the fleet was never at Yavin. Neither before or after Scariff. The alliance is I think caught with its pants down in A New Hope and there is no sign of an evacuation alongside the DS1 attack. It's great for tension plot wise but canon wise can only be that they didn't have the ship capacity on hand. Lessons clearly learnt at Hoth where they are able to start the evacuation very quickly albeit with very light defence for the transports.

Evacuation of nonessential personnel could have been offscreen and done long before the death star arrives and off-screen. The Rebels were aware that they get traced and needed the base personal for their attack on the death star. Leia told Han that their escape was far too easy and that it is a trap. She will have told alliance command as well.

The very nature of the alliance leads me to think that the "Rebel fleet" isn't held anywhere. As Rebels shows, it's a bunch of separate cells. In the case of the fleet, it's a bunch of strike forces scattered all around the galaxy.
The Rebellion's leaders maybe be gathered at Yavin in Rogue One, but that doesn't mean all their forces are.
And the Admiral in R1 and the forces that go with him are even stated to be going counter to the orders of the Rebel leadership. So there's a very good chance that the fleet at Scarif is not the entirety of the Rebel Fleet.

Agreed on all points. I'd assume the same of the ground forces being distributed similarly.
Im interested to see how new canon deals with planets like Mon Cal. In old canon they are the big fleet contributors to the Alliance and Rogue One has them takimg the lead there again. I believe Mon Cal is already occupied but how successfully due to the aquatic nature Im not sure.. actually tbh I forget if that is new canon, old or both.
Their contribution of cruisers to the Rebel fleet is pretty obvious and makes them a prime target for retribution regardless.
