The "other" Yoda speaks of is MAUL!
STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!
I felt a chill (in a good Star Wars way) when Ezra used the force on that walker. More specifically during that last step. That's some good screenwriting there.
Ditto. I'm sure he'll make a fine Sith.
Emperor: "ANOTHER ONE.... OUTTA THE PARK! GO MEEEEE!"
I flipped to Empire Strikes Back on TNT after the Rebels premiere and one scene stood out to me especially.
After Luke leaves Dagobah Obi-Wan says something along the lines of "He was our last hope." and Yoda says "No, there is another: which is in reference to Leia. Yoda who is aware of Ezra and Kanan due to the last season of Rebels, basically says in Empire there are only two capable of becoming jedi left. He says that to Obi-Wan and no one else which implies he's being completely honest and straight forward. There's none of that "from a certain point of view" nonsense.
Another jedi cannot exist, especially in the Rebel Alliance, by the time of a New Hope and especially when Luke joins the Rebel Alliance. Obi-Wan was Leia's only hope. If Ezra, a powerful young force user was still a rebel or alive, why would she go to Obi Wan a much older Jedi? Why would Luke be so special unless he was the last of the Jedi?
Another jedi can exist, it's just that either A) Yoda thinks they suck by comparison and aren't worth mentioning B) should be kept secret from his best ghost pal or C), they're dead. Oops.
Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. At least until you get a stern talking-to and your master takes away your Sith toy and gives it to a talking rock that he just met.
To be fair. TOM BAKER!
It would be AWESOME, if they never revealed who Yoda was referring to when he said "OTHER."
Especially if Ahsoka Tano, Kanan, Ezra, etc were still alive. Maybe Mace Windu is also alive. And actually, it doesn't really make sense for Leia to be the OTHER, since she doesn't not seem to have a very high midi-chorian count.

Personally, I think that only Luke or Leia stood a snowball’s chance of facing both Vader and the Emperor (at the same time) not because they were the strongest, but because the Emperor’s greed and Vader’s emotional turmoil could stand a chance to pit them against each other. Anyone else would either fall to Vader’s Wrath (because he was too weak) or stand to be corrupted (or killed) by the Emperor once weakened by Vader. If either Sith survived then the cycle would simply continue with one training a new apprentice.
Basically this.
It's not that Yoda (necessarily - we don't know) meant there were literally no more Jedi .
Obi-Wan had said that the boy 'was our last hope' (referring to defeating Vader and the Emperor - Obi-Wan and Yoda having failed to do that when they tried). He didn't say 'that boy is our last Jedi' before Yoda replied 'No, there is another'.
Presumably, that is, indeed, in reference to Leia as being the only other chance to defeat the Emperor. As, apparently, only Vader would ever have been able to, and only one of his children could turn him back enough to do so.
I've reviewed every episode of Rebels for my website. All in a spoiler-free fashion!

I felt a bit let-down to be honest. But there were plenty of positives.

Something you mention in passing in that - it's definitely pretty clear that a lot of time has passed since the events that ended season 2. Can't quite make out HOW much time. ?As much as a year? It seemed to be getting referred to as being a distant memory.
It's something that occurred to me before - the 'seasons' of the show don't seem to be lining up to 'one season = one year', necessarily. So we know the pilot episode of the show was supposedly set 5 years before Yavin...do we have any idea where we are, now?

I'm guessing we are getting close to episode 4. In season 2 it showed that the death star had left Geonosis. If I remember correctly, in the Tarkin book, when the Death Star left Geonosis, it was pretty much done right? so i'm guessing it's in its testing phase, which is what it is doing in rouge one. and apparently rebels is going to have some rouge one tie-ins right?

The impression I got from Tarkin was that the Death Star had only left Geonosis orbit for a short time to test the sublight engines - that it would return there for more work.
From Season 2 we saw that the population of Geonosis was gone (Marvel Darth Vader comics confirmed the Empire killed them all) - and it looked like the construction facility was abandoned - the Death Star had probably had the hyperdrives installed and gone. Not quite "all systems fully operational" - but close enough to enter the testing phase.
It's not till ANH that "the final checkout is completed - all systems are operational".

well, given the state of things and Rogue One coming in soon, we're probably at... Well honestly I have no idea, and I'm the guy that watches everything on Rebels Insider. I'll tweet Pablo Hidalgo about that, see if I can get an answer.

the model for Ezra seems taller and they're obviously trying to make him look older - I know teens can spring up but it sort of felt like 12-24 months had passed, but that didn't seem to line up with what seemed to be going on in-show.
according to this it's a year on from the last season, 3 years on since the show started but only 2 years from Rogue One/ANH. Guessing Ezra is now 17 or 18, depending on which side of Empire Day this episode was?

Three years? Huh. I hadn't really gotten that impression.
If that's the case then I suppose we have at most two more seasons to go. That or syndication mark count.

The "how many Jedi were actually in the Rebellion" questions not-withstanding, I don't see why they couldn't keep the show going through the ANH timeline and beyond?
Well, I did read somewhere they were confirmed for 5 Seasons, and that was it.

Eh, they could but I honestly don't see the utility. Granted, something between IV-V and then between V-VI would be really cool.
But I don't think it'd be these guys. Unless it is.

As long as they maintain quality, I'm ok with Rebels or a new show. So many options, I'd personally love to see more of the three years between ANH-ESB.
All I want is for Thrawn to NOT end up dead once Rebels is done with him.
It would be AWESOME, if they never revealed who Yoda was referring to when he said "OTHER."

We don't really have any idea how strong Leia is with the Force since she never received any training, preferring to dedicate her efforts to the politics of establishing the New Republic (unlike the EU).
One bit of food for thought, on 2 occasions, she was able to sense when someone she loved was in mortal peril. You could argue that on Bespin, Luke was sending and she was merely receiving but when Han died on Starkiller base, she sensed it and realised what had happened. The only other person we have seen sense the death of others on an individual scale was Yoda during Order 66. Obi Wan sensed the destruction of Alderaan but that was 3 billion people and he was a trained Jedi Master.
We will probably never know Leia's midi-chlorian count (I personally hope I never hear the term again), but I think she is pretty strong in the Force, even though she never learned to use it the way her Father and Brother did. And let's not forget, I don't think her son got his powers from Han.
Well, I did read somewhere they were confirmed for 5 Seasons, and that was it.
Not sure if it was every formally "confirmed" or not, but the story arc was commented on as being intended for 5 seasons.
And Freddie Prinze Jr (Kanan Jarrus) is apparently a serious gamer, and sometimes comments on his twitch feed details on the show he probably shouldn't. One notable one was that 'Disney already bought the whole series - the yearly announcements of the next season being renewed are just for publicity purposes'
So I imagine we've got a 5-year story, here, that ends as Episode IV starts. Thus, no DIRECT tie-ins to Rogue One (which seems to end literally as the opening scene of Episode IV ), but certainly a lot of overlapping references.
And given the team that has done this did such a bang-up job on Clone Wars, now this series...and that Disney has movie announcements already through 2020 (2 more seasons of Rebels only being out to 2018)...I'd be shocked speechless if they didn't have this team spin up another series, with new characters, after this one wraps.

They probably will, and I'd be very interested to see just what they're cooking up there, but I also wonder if they can hit that Rebels magic again.
Yeah, I just said that. There's a certain magic to Star Wars: Rebels. It's got that "Oh, these are like a party of characters in an old star wars tabletop RPG" feeling, while continuing the story of The Clone Wars to some extent but being distant enough that it's its own thing.
Problem is, how do you strike gold like that twice? The Clone Wars fills in that wonderful blank spot between II and III, but with characters we know alongside characters we don't know. How long can we call back old characters- and if so, how long until the new ones get their own stories?
I know it looks like I'm having a hard time articulating my point- because honestly I kinda am. Dave Filoni said that he didn't want Ahsoka to overshadow our new cast and he's totally right about how she... Wasn't necessarily starting to but it was a major talking point for viewers. More major, arguably, than the primary cast.
I wonder if Ezra will be the next Ahsoka in this way- if Filoni will do this again because I don't believe he will.
It's really hard to make a point through all this, but I think what I'm trying to say is apparent. Maybe?
I'm just not entirely sure how they'll pull it off three times in a row.

I don't think I'd realized it till now, but that is a very nice background element to why I enjoy the show. Very nicely summed up.

According to the official episode guide for the episode, in the Trivia Gallery, it's only 6 months since the end of last season.
