STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

No issues with reverse grip sabre fighting. Rule of cool applies.

Helisabres...

I think we can all agree on that one.

Until you actually train with a sword. Then the magic just dies.

Ezra: gets a new lightsaber (likely with no gun)

It's a real shame the gun-handled lightsaber got Ahsoka'd by Vader. That design was a genuinely good idea.

And that is exactly what rule of cool means. See the trope "awesome but impractical".

I dunno. I've trained 15th century bastard sword based on a fechtbuch of the time (Talhoffer's). In this, it's largely stance and footwork based. (and of course wrestling) The blade here is too large to feasibly be reverse gripped but that's 15th century German. Asian short swords might well use reverse grip a lot more. Due to curved, slashing blades. I don't know that much about the Asian styles, but it kinda stands to reason.

I have a D20 character who has a blaster rifle with a lightsabre duct taped to it like a long-bayonet...

In regards to the use of the inquisitor sabers for flight, it was mentioned in the previous episode's rebel recon that the hilt incorporates repulsor technology as part of the spinning mechanism (probably to enable the fancy throwing tricks). Odds are the "helicoptoring" is just the repulsor unit being repurposed.

But anyway, I found the following while reading a few other reviews of the finale. Looks like they had a split-second shot of Kanan's injuries on-screen:

Not sure who got the screen-cap, but still...

I kinda think the show runners give the fans a nod by having the last inquisitor die ignominiously because he relied on his silly helisaber.

I don't mind the helisabers. Its entirely stupid and pointless, but there was so much going on that I didn't care much. Hope they don't return, though.

Loved everything involving Maul and Ezra, loved the confrontation of old friends, pretty much loved everything!

Ahsoka definitly is alive with that last shot, but her journey seems to be over. She probably won't return ´to Rebels anytime soon if at all, but a new book featuring her would be really interesting at some point. I don't think that subtracts from the episode as it is pretty cool to speculate about what happened between her and Vader.

Next season looks like its going to be awesome! My predictions are that we get some bounty hunter action with Boba Fett in his best time. Ezra is going to build a lightsaber in the Malachor style, possibly red. Maybe the holocron contains the crystal Kylo has later on. Do we even know Kylo build his lightsaber himself or could that be the one Ezra is going to construct now? Kanan probably is going to keep his eyes unseeing for some spiritual reasons and because he can work without them.

Ahsoka is getting a book but it is set between Clone Wars and Rebels. I expect to see her back in Rebels for a rematch with Vader and probably a loss.

When the new inquisitor was just using it to jump from pillar to pillar, I was like "oh, so he's super acrobatic, and kind of uses his sabre to help, cool. Then I saw the other two do it. <_< lame.

I used to think that there would be zero way for Ahsoka (or ezra and kanan) to make it to ANH, but after reading that io9 Filoni interview, it sure seems like the show makers are hard at work exploring ways to avoid the jedi paradox (where in the original trilogy, luke is 'the last jedi'). Ahsoka was very clear in her distinction that she is not a jedi. Ezra is somewhere lost in the middle. Kanan, well he'll probably be a goner b/c of the 3, he is the only jedi.

That being said, I no longer believe it's Ahsoka's destiny to fall at the hands of Vader. But for the time being, even though she's still alive (probably), her story is done for now.

Not sure if there is going to be such a rematch. What I imagine happened was that Ahsoka beat Vader going of her advantage in a long battle, but ultimately couldn't finish him of as she still saw too much of Anakin. Realizing that it was outside of her ability to reach him her spirit was broken. Vader, too injured to let the fight continue and statisfied that Ahsoka gave up Anakin, then just left her to herself.

Just saw it last night.... OMG wow. Many cool post have already given the play-by-play. Heli-sabers...meh, it is a cartoon. Silly, yes. Didn't take away from the show. Between Maul, Holocron, Kanan, and... and and, there is PLENTY for season 3 and even into season 4!

As for Ashoka-

“I’ve already been devising certain specifics around the future of that character, where she is, what’s happening, if she dies, how would she survive if she did? All of those questions. I think they eventually need to be answered—but I wouldn’t look to that, frankly, anytime soon.”- Filoni

Maybe he wants to wait and get a feel for the fans want? Maybe season 3 isn't fully mapped out yet? I will say this, with the anticipation of Rouge One and now the fate of Ashoka my inner child is running around like a spider monkey hyped up on Mountain Dew! lol

There is no fate but what we make... <hums the terminator anthem>

I found myself wondering if they are going to try to reframe Yoda's "there is another" remark to refer to Ezra. Conventional thought was that it referred to Leia, but we see in Force Awakens that she didn't follow the jedi path, and I would think that it if she could she would have. It also makes sense in that Yoda is aware of Ezra whereas Obi-Wan is not, unlike Leia whom Obi-Wan would not have forgotten.

That looks permanent.

Except the inquisitors.

Maul and Sabije will both be big parts of season 3? Will Maul return to Mandalore? Will he be an annoying team rocket type character, fumbling into the rebels plans? Speculation!!

Ouch, poor Kanan!

Except the inquisitors.

I $^#$ING LOVED THOSE EPS!!!!!!!

are you my mummy? still gives me chills.

The only truly superior ep in my mind is sally sparrow and the original appearance of the weeping angels.

I liked Demons run too... (and 11ths intro "Hello, i'm the Doctor, basically run".)

"WHY WOULD YOU WALK AROUND WITHOUT PANTS, ZEB!?! WHY!?!?!?"

The rumor mill is going that Season 3 will be the last.

That reminds me. Maul doesn't seem to have the Darksaber anymore. I wonder what happened to it.

Real swords aren't made of light and have actual weight.

Exactly my feeling.

I find this hard to believe.

The only way I see it ending with Season 3 is if they launch a TFA era series in its place.

The show is as far as I know quite popular, and they said they had plans for 5 or so seasons... So I doubt that.
