STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

None of this is ABOUT THE IMPERIAL LIGHT CARRIER!!!!

Databank Entry is out. Image is obviously wrong atm.

Officially called the Quasar Fire -class Cruiser-Carrier. Though still referred to as an Imperial Light Carrier(which sounds better, because wtf is a Cruiser-Carrier?)

The writing on that entry is dreadful as well. And I mean painfully bad. There are sentences that barely qualify for the term.

So what was Cham's ship? That thing was amazing and I REALLLLLLY hope they put it in X-Wing! A Single-Ship-Carrier would be so awesome! Deploy 1 docked ship after you complete a maneuver!

Also the idea of loading up bombs on a ship and crashing it into the enemy - kamikaze tactics would be pretty sweet as well.

It was a Nu-class shuttle. They were used all the time in the clone wars. Not surprising they have it considering how much clone wars stuff seems to have been left on the planet.

Officially have a member of the Rebel Alliance using it on screen. Length is a nice little 18.9 meters....

Which means we have another candidate for a Rebel small-base ship that isn't the H-Wing!!!!! Make the pilots Cham and Numa, with a couple generics. Make it happen, FFG.

There's no way that ship is Small-base. Look at it's size in comparison to the Bomber it carries.

It definitely has the potential to be the Rebels version of a Lambda Shuttle though.

I doubt it. It wasn't really part of the battle (if you can really consider that a battle) and sits more naturally in the clone wars Era than the GCW. Not to mention it's armament and durability is probably worse than the Lambda. Just look at all of the episodes of The Clone Wars it was featured in. Most of the time, especially in battle, it was destroyed without firing.

Now I'm not saying that it isn't a good looking ship, it is a very good looking ship, its just not the type of ship you would dogfight with, but I guess if it can happen with the Lambda there may be a chance it can happen with the Nu.

I think that was the best episode of the seaosn. Ties launched from racks, tie bombers in action, imps being called imps, mouse droids, (improvised) tie shuttles, lots of little nods to the clone wars, old EU ships returning, and the reminder that most rebel ships are stollen imperial. And it answers the whole debate earlier in this very thread, about wether the carrier should be Imperial or rebel, because it's design is angular and wedge shaped.

...

Interesting that Hera found and restored Chopper when she was younger. That begs the question of exactly how he got that... um... slightly psychotic personality that he has. And also where he came from originally... A story there, perhaps?

She was young... Teen angst perhaps played a part? :P

Or perhaps he just acts out like an abandoned puppy.

As others have said it's essentially just a forefather of the lambda from the clone wars, (as is the epsilon class which Battlefront 2 used as an imperial 'assault shuttle') and it really aught to be a small large rather than a big small.... If you get me.

Wouldn't mind seeing either of them show up in XWing as rebel/Imperial ships (as once again, like most late clone wars era ships, they could go either way). Hopefully after we get a Sentinel shuttle though, it does get so much screen time after all.

I'd be in favour of the shuttle coming into the game. After all, it's always nice to get Nu ships.

Anyone else notice Hera's accent when she was speaking to her father? She sounded like a Russian spy for a quick moment.

It was pretty hard to miss, so yeah. I thought it was a very nice touch; very realistic for someone who leaves home and picks up a new accent, to fall back into their native accent when they're talking to someone from back home. Especially if they're highly emotional. Or drunk.

Did anyone else catch the armor Numa was wearing? Looked like she either has a piece of Waxer's old armor, or she painted her armor to look like Waxer's - it looks similar to clone armor and has the same yellow stripe that Waxer's had...

I think it was said in Rebels Recon that the Republic had left a bunch of supplies and artillery after the clone wars. Cham is wearing shoulder armor, Gobi is wearing wrist plating, and Numa has body armor on her left arm with Boil written down it. All of their armor is from the 212th.

Well, Admiral Kuznetsov is an aviation cruiser aka cruiser-carrier, so this is a real thing...

but

Quasar Fire looks like the most carriery carrier that ever carried in Star Wars universe, being basically a huge hangar bay with a few AA turrers for self defence, I have no idea why they decided to add the cruiser- part to this particular ship, especially considering that you could call most of big SW ships cruiser-carriers, as they usually carry a handful of starfighters on board.

For me Venator-class is THE Space Kuznetsov because of how much space is devoted to carriery things when compared to other heavy cruisers while still having respectable offensive armament.

Tease for next weeks episode looks great, a stranded Zeb and Agent Kallus, seems like it might be riffing on enemy mine. CANNOT wait!

Perhapse because it is cruiser sized, and they intend to put several different carriers into the fiction and distinguish them by vague size?

Zeb and Kallus are stuck together... This should end very well...

I'm surprised Zeb hadn't killed him at this point.

Because the child must save the warrior..

I thought that prophecy was already fulfilled. They found Lirasan.

I feel like Escort Carrier would have been a more appropriate name.

I suspect it will work flawlessly... in Star Wars everything is called a cruiser, from Arquitens to Imperial-class Star Destroyer :P

And as I said, cruiser-carrier is a real world ship type which doesn't fit Quasar Fire.

Light carrier or escort carrier would be much more logical choice, I think.

I wonder why the writers like changing ship class backgrounds so much? They changed the A-Wing and the B-Wing backgrounds and now they have changed the Quasar Fire class from a civilian bulk cruiser that the rebels often converted into carriers to an Imperial carrier.

I thought that prophecy was already fulfilled. They found Lirasan.

Perhaps. But how safe is Lirasan now that Kallus knows roughly where it is, and that the Ghost crew survived? I mean the empire wouldn't think twice about sending pilots in to map that anomaly.

Now that doesn't mean that the above will happen, but Zeb did say he would send any additional Lasat there, and it could be interesting to TIE/in this upcoming episode with the Legends of tje Lasat.

There's a discussion on this a few pages back and I believe they even touch on it in the latest Rebels Recon. Its basically because the ship falls into the classic Imperial triangle design rather than organic rebel ship design, but because it was a rebel ship in the old EU they had to somehow make it a rebel ship in the current canon in some way, shape, or form. The A-wing has remained pretty close to the old EU, in which they were R-22 Spearheads pre-Yavin instead of the current canon's RZ-1 A wings. I don't think much has changed with the B-wing's origin other than the time it was designed and the engineer who designed it.

I'm actually pretty happy the Quasar is now an Imperial ship to 'replace' that old floating brick as the Empire's go-to carrier.

Kallus doesn't know Lirasan lies beyond the star cluster, or even that Lirasan exists. The only reason he was chasing them was because he wanted to capture them.

The prophecy stated that the path to Lirasan would only be revealed if the child (Zeb) saved the warrior (Kallus) and the fool (Hondo), both of whom were on that light cruiser in pursuit of the Ghost, now you could back up the theory that Zeb "saved" them by venturing further into the star cluster forcing Kallus to turn back, but that may be pushing it. The prophecy has been fulfilled, they found Lirasan and know a better way to get to it.

Did you guys not pay attention to the episode when she explains that Zeb was all 3 of them in turn?

Look at it this way.

The ships never had a background because they never had any actual canon.

Kallus needs to defect to the Rebellion.
