STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

So do you guys think Maul is going to be in the service of the Empire when we see him? Or will he have broken away and more-less be a Scum dude?

I think Maul will be on his own.

In the Son of Dathomir (canon) comic, he escaped Sidious.

He hates Sidious. He wouldn't be working with the empire.

But it also seems as if his Mandalorian follower abandoned him.

He's probably chilling, waiting to find a little helper.

He doesn't do well solo. He needed Savage. He needed the Mandos. Now he needs someone new to help him.

It was an industrial center under direct service of the empire.

They were legitimate targets.

Anything is a legitimate target for terrorists.

He escaped, and then got recaptured.

So I think its odd that the rebels Protect Whales, and kill innocent Miners. That bothers me.

also, we get some explanation about the Yellow ties in the Rebels recon, but I don't like the answer.

Ive already stated how I feel about Tie fighter visabilty, I don't think the wings are a problem, becuase the viewport dosen't allow good peripheral vision anyway.

That's just what I think though.

I don't think it's quite fair to call the miners "innocent". They're in the pocket of the Empire, and they were more than happy to shoot the Ghost on sight. And when you're contracted out to work for an organization that runs the risk of conflict with a group of insurgents, you know the risk. They should've listened to their heart when taking on Imperial business, not their wallet.

^Yeah. Once they started shooting, and the fact that they were equipped with military grade fighters puts them on a legitimate target list IMO. Not to mention that enemy fuel supplies and refineries are considered a legitimate target in time of war. If you would like I'll look up a few wiki articles concerning such raids in World War II

Me too. Especially when you consider that Lando and Cloud City are basically Mining Guild.

I was more bothered by the fact that he kept referring to the TIE's wings as "stablizers" instead of solar panels. I really hope we're not getting yet another retcon on what the wings on TIEs do.

Dear DarthEnderX

I'm sorry. You were right.

You don't really need to apologize. It's not as if I was right at the time. Like you said, in the EU, that ship wasn't Imperial. They simply retconned it to make me right, which is what I was hoping they would do, but it's not like I knew anything you didn't.

That said, I'm now super-psyched there's a wedge shaped carrier I can station all my lovely TIEs on!

Cloud City was not part of the Mining Guild. Leia asked if they were part of it and Lando said no.

Might not be exactly. It could be that stabilizers are only one PART of the section that was removed. Much like if you took off the front section of a CAR, you might hear someone talk about how it overheated due to lack of a radiator.... but it would also be missing other important stuff. Like wheels.

It's been a while since I read Son of Dathomir, but I thought he was captive in The Spire, and his Mando followers busted him out, including Rook Kast, who is a candidate for Ssabine's mom.

Then they Maul and Mother Talzin fought Grievous, Sidious, and Tyranus. Talzin died and Maul escaped with his Mando buds. The End.

That's how I remember it anyway. it's been so long. i thought he was at large.

EDIT: From Maul's wookieepedia page.

"As they fled, Maul watched as Grievous returned to fatally stab Talzin with his lightsabers.[17]

Maul fled from Dathomir, which was being attacked by the Separatists. The Shadow Collective, meanwhile, had also been defeated by Separatist forces. In Sidious' eyes, despite Maul's escape, the former Sith Lord had been eliminated as a rival to the future Sith rule of the galaxy."

Maul has been on his own since we last saw him in Son of Dathomir.

I would love it if maul becomes this kind of dark side version of yoda. He doesn't participate in the heroes conflict, but he teaches ezra about the dark side.

Maul is now a White Knight of Kun'Blite. He fights for what's right but only at night.

That's my prediction.

I actually think he has become DayMan, fighter of the NightMan, champion of the Sun.

He's a master of karate and friendship, for everyone.

Quick Question from a Rebels noob:

Which current available ships are compatible if I want to run "Rebels-era" games?

I've only watched season 1 but have gleaned from several posts some info I'm looking for in regards to Rebels-era ships that have appeared on screen:

A-wing prototype

B-wing prototype

Ghost/Phantom

CR90 Corvette

TIE Fighter

TIE Advanced (I think Vader is flying his x1)

TIE Advanced prototype

Imperial Assault Carrier

Hound's Tooth

Slave-1 (I guess it counts since it was around during the Clone Wars so it goes to reason that Boba is doing something with it during this time frame)

Have I missed anything else that's appeared in season 2 thus far? Thanks for any help.

Kanan tries too hard sometimes...

Its also really nice to see Numa again. I always wondered if they would bring her back.

I love that Kanan is trying so hard but just

completely fails

Always nervous when meeting the inlaws.

Show me dat Carrier!!

I actually really liked the last ep, and am perfectly ok with hyperspace whales. Who knows if darker, more sinister beings exist between the stars...

I also like how Ezra communicated with them, and have no issue with the miners being killed. They shot first.

They'd need less fuel if phoenix squadron pilots stopped asploding.

I'm a little disappointed that they were miners guild, and not techno-union. I had this whole kraftwork mix tape thing planned.

TECHNO UNION IN ASSAULT GUNBOATS FOR XWING!!!!! <does the robot dance>.

And now that's in my head for the rest of the day...

Here's where we get into the whole charged area of agendas, writing, and the politics of the show runners.

I prefer we not go there, even though they are. I wish they weren't. (sigh)

Personally I felt it was a throwaway episode that neither added nor detracted from the series. CW had them too. The one weird thing to me was the comment that they based the origin of hyperspace travel in people watching Tentacle Whales go to light speed. Maybe the spaceflight organs of the Hentaiwhales were what they based hyperdrive technology on. I dunno. Still weird.
