STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

Isn't Kanaan and Hera quite Kyle Katarn-, and Jan Orsish... already?

Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh definitely.

Believe me that is the FIRST thing I thought about those two. Though Kanan is more Outcast Kyle tbh. The characters are REALLY similar in design too.

Like.

Really similar.

But I still want Kyle back. I'll take him not being there but I do want him back.

The Kids wouldn't notice.

It would definitely fit having Katarn as a character in Rebels, because that's before he would have started using the Force anyway.

I remember that being a really fun fight.

I don't remember any boss fight in Jedi Knight being fun.

I actually liked the conventional ones versus Sariss and Yun...!

Those two were my favourites too.

Kyle would most likely be imperial still and Jan would be in the rebellion at this point.

So with respect to tonight's episode:

I'm surprised AT-AT's could stand up like that. Or get dropped from a height so nicely. Or that starships have so much backblast.

Got to see the Ghost use it's torpedoes.

I think it was mainly him blasting the engines.

Did really enjoy Leia in this episode. Even got a bit of a glimpse of her acting her age. Troopers got some fun lines, though.

Great episode tonight, got to see the Ghost use some awesome torpedoes and Kanan being an awesome Jedi. How about those fleet shots though, I couldn't believe how cool it all looked. Maybe not on X wing scale but I bet one day I'll be able to replicate it in Armada. Either way cool to actually see a rebellion growIng, and keeping track of ships..

So did the Gozanti have to fly into a Star Destroyer to pick them up, or at some point did the SD flat-out land like the old Venators used to? Maybe there is some credence to Fractalsponge's landing ships.

Either way, it speaks well of the lifting capacity of the Gozanti, not to mention sets up a neat future mechanic for a land battle-based game, maybe?

Also, the shocks on those early AT-ATs must've been pretty great, because the jolt was enough to pulp anyone inside when they landed that hard.

Anybody catch the sneak peak for next week's episode on the new Rebels Recon? Good candidates for future waves of X-wing expansions: the cool Mandalorian fighter and the yellowfin TIE should hit the table, IMO.

I don't think there was a Star Destroyer in the area of Lothal in that that episode, so I imagine the Gozanti and AT-ATs it was carrying just deployed from whatever Imperial garrison/base was left on the planet. (Speaking of - given how much 'Rebels' likes to pull from the old WEG RPGs, I have to say I'd looooove to see the Prefab Imperial Garrison Base show up some time...)

Still, no reason to think that this wouldn't be the normal way to deploy them. After all, the CR-90 fits easily and entirely in the hangar bay of a Star Destroyer, and it is quite a bit larger than a Gozanti, so...

O.o

I'm not sure how much of an issue "lifting capacity" is when you have antigravity technology.

I'm just so happy that the AT-AT barge is probably no longer a thing...

I must say that I was pretty pleased to see Yogar Lyste acting out that competent and foresighted during the setup of the mission. Still it was sad, that it let to nothing and he even looked a bit out of his depth at the end of the episode.

At least one of the ships should have stayed under Imperial control as a proof that the pressure on the rebels was that high and the imperial commander not a complete walkover.

Yet it was cool to see, how much plotarmour AT-ATs can have, once they are given the chance...! ^_^

It kinda makes you wonder though, if it's so easy to cut through the legs of an AT-AT with a lightsaber, why Luke would have bothered with all that grappling hook/grenade nonsense.

No ****.

A Rebel transport goes down in one shot from a TIE Fighter, but an AT-AT can take a half-a-dozen torpedo hits.

Lukes lightsabre couldn't even cut through throne room railings if you look at ROTJ...

So do we just chalk that up to a plot-hole? Or are we supposed to assume that Kanan just has a way better lightsaber?

He got a Krayt Dragon Pearl in that thing?

Plot holes and writing. Lightsabers evolution from laser sword to OMGSPACEKATANACUTSTHROUGHEVERYTHING.

I mean, I don't doubt that his lightsaber COULD cut through an AT-AT leg, but it should at least take awhile. Like when Qui-Gon was cutting through that security door.

Sure, a serrated butter knife will cut through sheet metal eventually.

Those legs could withstand anti vehicle blaster cannon direct hits with barely a scorch mark. Nope, that be bad writing.

Well. To be devil's advocate:

The vehicles we see in Rebels aren't AT-ATs we see in Hoth. They are an earlier model that seem to have the same caliber of hull plating on the body and head. (Possibly shielded as well) They are weak at the neck as earlier episodes showed us (Silly Zeb can't hit a neck) but they also seem to be weak at the legs and possibly the underbelly like in ESB. Luke's lightsaber explodes the panel in ESB, Kanan's seems to melt the outer edges of the legs (which are really thin metal comparative to the whole vehicle) which causes the legs to over stress in own direction (As we see it it's anime like slow fall) and then buckle and break, causing the vehicle to fall down.

My personal opinion? Should have just shot the neck like in the last episode and avoided silliness.
My inner little kid? OMG LIGHTSABER WIELDING STORMTROOPER! Vooom, voom!

What I don't get is how the Imperial Officer forgot that the two troopers that Leia vouched for attacked them.

Everyone pretty much covered my opinion on the episode except for 2 things:

1: Loved the use of Princess Leah's theme throughout the episode. It was a nice touch.

2: A note to any SWRPG GM's that might be reading this. The Boot is now canon in the Star Wars universe.

So with respect to tonight's episode:

I'm surprised AT-AT's could stand up like that. Or get dropped from a height so nicely. Or that starships have so much backblast.

I'd be more surprised if starships didn't have a very large backblast. Newton's Third Law would seem to indicate that to move something that massive would require a fair amount of backblast.
