Dreadnought confirmed!
STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!
My predictions for those whose fate we don't know!
Our heroes:
Ezra - Either ascends into some force being/whill/The Son or has to flee into hiding. Can't be present in OT.
Ahsoka - transported into the future in the last episode for the next series so she won't be present during the OT.
Hondo - Sacrifices himself to save Ezra
That weird pig man adversary/friend of Hondo - Is he even in this episode?
Wolf & Gregor - Sacrifice themselves to save Rex
Our Villains:
Pryce - Dies onboard the Lothal command building when its destroyed during launch.
Thrawn - Survives but humiliated by phyrric victory on Lothal. The Tie Defender project fails and he either reassigned or his next move left ambiguous for the books to pick up.
Ultimately I think Lothal will be rendered no longer of use to the Empire and thusly abandoned.
Pellaeon mentioned
So umm... Who guessed the most things correctly? I'm kinda speechless for both good & bad reasons.
Edited by InneseWell, Rex at Endor is official canon now.

I loved that!

I love that’s what your first take away is Crabbok ?
What an exceptional ending.
Agreed.
Everything I was afraid would happen.... didn't happen. Almost everything I WANTED to happen.... happened. Something I didn't even KNOW that I wanted.... I got!
Here's my full takeaway if you are ok with spoilers.

That moment Crabbok's review is up before the episodes are even put up on the official youtube channel. ( I bought the season back when it started don't judge me.)
Did Thrawn survive?

I don’t drink coffee.
But if I did I would drink Crabbok’s Blend Coffee.
Space whales break an Imperial blockade...the. ******* space whales?
Yup. Just like that Space Slug in Empire Strikes Back. Creatures exist in space in Star Wars. Always have.
These space whales were introduced years ago.

Nah i'm not good with that, not one bit. That's not only deus ex machina, but its a lame avatar solution to the problem.
I'm not going to levy hate on the finale, but that part is awful in every way. There were other ways they could've lifted the Imperial blockade. Heck the loss of the Tie Defender factory and the already strip-mined planet is already enough reason to divert military resources to other worlds.

Understand. It's not the MOST elegant solution I'll grant you that - But it accomplished so many things.
- It allowed the Bendu's prophecy to be fulfilled.
- It allowed Thrawn to be defeated and still survive.
- It allowed them to namedrop Captain Palleon, but also have him survive.
- And most importantly, it gave great characters like Thrawn, Ezra, and Palleon a future for future films, series, or books.
Because of those reasons, I don't mind the space whales at all.

It was a plot device they already used an episode prior with the wolves.
It feels cheap. Thrawn was defeated in the most cheap way ever.
Its the singular frustrating thing about Star Wars, lazy solutions to problems that would be so much better served with some nuanced resolution and they had time to figure this out.
I don't hate the end result. I think the end of this episode is phenomenal with the Post Endor montage, but I'm severely disappointed that the Purgiils are the great saviors.
Thrawn was set up to fail due to his known lack of understanding of how the force works. After the incredible invention of force concepts last week, it would've been great to see something truly mystical defeating Thrawn.
Thrawn was untouched by Star Wars silliness and now I will always know space whales beat him. That's awful.

That is precisely what we got. Who do you think really led those creatures there?

Beaten by the force in the worst way possible.
Thrawn got beaten by space whales.
They're not even cool looking, they look like sperm whales with tentacles.
Rebels is a show unparalleled in its demonstrations of how incredible the force is, in all of Star Wars new canon and old, but this may be one of the worst uses of it ever.
EDIT: They have a king with catfish tails...

Loved that finale and I'm excited for what comes next.
It really makes me wish we could have seen a true ending for Clone Wars animated though.
