STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

Inorite?

Man Chewie had some baggage about never getting that medal...

When is Rebels coming back out?

Sometime next year? March, I think.

We could've gotten this scene but Filoni didnt want a "super villains" convention...

Sigh...

Right now I think that Star Trek's major issue is that they frequently hired directors that knew next to nothing about the shows and even bragged about it sometimes COUGHJJCOUGHHACKBAIRD .

I wonder if there's an opposite side of that coin? Can you have a director that is such a fanatic of a series that he/she would totally ruin things if put in charge of it?

I don't think Filoni is that person, but I wonder if that is because he's on a short leash from Disney or whether he just geeks out from time to time?

edit: actually I think that George Lucas was a good example of this. Great movies when Fox kept him nice and tethered but look at what he did once they let him run free.

He made three more fine Star Wars films, but I get what you're saying.

Filoni's obsession with Wolves shows how much control he has over Rebels, though. They've dedicated way too many resources to making this meh thing, "Look right". Which is impressive, but still.

I want to formally apologize for all the Rebels bashing I've done on this thread. I don't love the show still and in my perception I think it could be much better but I realize I may have been working to kill others enthusiasm of it with my excited negativity.

I'm glad people find enjoyment in it! That's what this is all about in the end.

I came out of the Last Jedi super enthusiastic and I saw what I was doing here as being very similar to what others are doing to the Last Jedi. I still love it but it's super disheartening how vocal so many are in their hatred of it.

I'll be the first to say Rebels is flawed. The Last Jedi has flaws as well. Some easily fixed. I also find both greatly enjoyable, despite their flaws.

I think The Clone Wars is/was superior to Rebels, but even that had some absolute clangers. I do very much dislike this notion that as soon as something has a flaw or a plot hole it's suddenly irredeemably bad.

I mean, holy heck, Shakespeare clearly forgot whether he killed off Benvolio or Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet. Hamlet, his most celebrated play, was absolutely full of bloat that a decent editor would have cut right out. People think Canto Bight was a pointless diversion? Sheesh, try sitting through ANY Polonius scene in Hamlet.

I mean, some media IS drek (Sturgeon's Law says about 90% of it) but it disgruntles me me that people are more willing to take minor inconveniences and cynically blow them up to WROST FILUM EVARR as opposed to being able to enjoy the great parts despite (or even in spite of) the flaws. It sometimes feels like it's seen as wise and noble to fixate on flaws rather than earnestly enjoy the great stuff.

This certainly isn't to drag on you, Forresto, just getting some sith-spit off my chest. Your ability to recognise what you have is a sign of some respectable introspection.

Anyway that's my blazing hot nuclear take for the day.

I think you right, but what's Star Trek?

I think it's the one with the big space carrier on a pilgrimage to Earth after the 12 Colonies were wiped out by robots.

guys this is literally the worst meme

I hear in the new canon that it's the Rebels crew inside the Ghost instead of the Ram's Head. And they don't have a special shield. And they pulled a zigzag to go through the center of each ship longways.

Guys I think the Ghost might be the new Sun Crusher.

(Also did anybody ever think that Mon Mothma was opening a pizza box at the awards ceremony?)

HAHA people that attacked this didn't know that a more extreme version of this situation was gonna happen in SW ep 8. Frankly this is still a great story, canon still because legends is not non-canon. That being said Rebels has not failed to disappoint, it just keeps getting worse. Baron Fel is now a bartender and is just about just like how I wrote him in a spoof because I knew Imperials where gonna get dumped on in this series after Diseny took over.

Huh, BKL is back.

You know the drill, guys.

With the Ram's Head, if you had the ship impact and push in a similar fashion, if you had enough thrust you would either wrench the ISD off of its moorings or it would start pushing the whole of the docking facility around. The latter requires more energy than the former and going through the bridge requires less energy still. All you need is a means for the Corvette to not become a twisted hulk stuck inside the first bridge tower. Thus the ShieldX. Physics-wise, it is the path of least resistance and makes the most sense.

The irony here is that you defy common sense while applying simple science ^_^
The cubic increase of volume and mass is something which goes straight over the head of the normal scope of intuitive understanding. :)

"But the ISD is only 1600m long while the corvette is 150m", meanwhile this ends up with an increase in mass by factor 1000. :)

Or in other words, instead of talking about a car, we should be talking about trucks, multiple of them, all at once. :)

Is Fel really a bartender?

Baron Rudor is. apparently he's lost his spot as a test pilot, probably due to a history of problems (his ship being shotdown, blown up, or outright stolen by the specter's multiple times would probably do that, under thrawn) and Vult Skerris being brought in for the TIE Defender program.

And it seems more like Rudor is in charge of a club mainly for officers, he basically got some spoils from the punishments against the Lothal civilians. So while his career went not stellar, it does not look like a demotian either, he still seems to be a pilot too. Maybe he even is in the defender program under Skerris.

Yeah, it did not seem to me like he had been taken off active duty, more that he was benefitting from his attachment to a corrupt regime.

I hope with skerris’ ahem, reassignment we actually see the Baron (Fel) in the last couple episodes.

I actually don't really see the point of him appearing. I would much more prefer a whole series for the 181st. ^_^

well Skerris is definately not going to be reappearing so Baron Rudor being dragged back as an antagonist would make sense. especially since Thrawn and Governor Price aren't pilots.

So what happened? Did Thrawn finally kill them? I haven't bothered to look it up.

Am I missing something? I thought the season wasn't due to come back until like, March.
