STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

If the opening crawl for ANH is anything to go by, Thrawn is going to have a field day on these Rebels...

If the ´first victory´ mentioned in the crawl is the battle in Rogue One (and we can assume it is) then it could indeed mean there is no other major victory before...

But then... what happens to Thrawn? He isn´t in Rogue One, he isn´t in A New Hope.

Will he die through treason, defeat? Or get ´banished´ to the Unknown Regions?

I'm going to guess banished to the outer rim to allow for Timothy Zahn's original series to still have some merit.

One, the Rebels and anyone aside from high up Imperials probably would have no idea about what the death star was. IT is easy for us to see that it is the death star, but if you never even knew the death star was a thing I'd imagine it would be hard to know what some small circle in a circle is.

Yeah but why the **** is he drawing circles in the goddamn dirt to begin with?!

He's a fully evolved species that repairs robots and shield generators. He doesn't have a freakin written language?

Even if they don't understand your language, you write some **** down and they can have it translated later!

That's so **** frustrating. "Oh we're the species that invented the most technologically advanced weapon in the galaxy, but I'm going to be written with all the story tropes of a savage jungle people."

Super important thing I picked up, Bail Organa is voiced by the same actor as Samuri Jack, phil lamarr.

I believe that, much like with bees and ants, Geonosians have different classes in their race, with different roles and functions. For example, look at Poggle the Lesser. Just from a physical standpoint, he is so vastly different from the normal Geonosians. It's likely that some are bred for intelligence, while others are basically mindless drones who only know how to do basic things unless instructed otherwise.

Because the dirt was readily available.

Read Catalyst; it gives a good explanation of Geonosian culture. The Geonosian survivor in this Rebels episode is definitely just a worker. I doubt he/she/it was educated enough to write the things the Rebels needed to know.

Again, read Catalyst; even the Geonosians directly resonsible for the Death Star Designs seen during EpII didn't know anything about the weapon except the outer focusing dish. Galen Erso designed the weapon.

If that's what Catalyst says than it's just as poorly written as this episode.

The idea of a class that can't read or write, but still has knowledge of advanced robotics is ridiculous.

This drone was not an assembly line worker, putting a single part into it's place over and over. He was maintaining a force of droids and an advanced shield generator in their entirety on his own.

Also, that nameless commander of the Light Cruiser is now officially my favorite Imperial character. She's just awesome.

Pretty sure that's Rae Sloane.

Assuming the article is correct, I assume her name is Brunson.

Well being able to write very well in one's own language versus being able to write in an alien language are two thinggs entirely. That drone could be the most intelligent creature on the planet and still not necessarily know how to speak or write basic.

Before the Ghost's crew showed up, he was. #insecticide

I do hope that wasnt the queen that vader kills in the comics. I'd like the species to survive.

Well, the Vader comics take place several years after this point in Rebels, so...

It's definitely correct. She's named as Captain Brunson in the end credits.

Anyone know why the episode release schedule is so sporadic this season?

How do you mean? They always have a mid-season gap through much of December? Like...geez, since even the Clone Wars series.

Sporadic.

The Galactic Atlas, that came out a few weeks ago, specifically stated that it was Queen Karina that Vader killed in the comics.

Sporadic.

Why the last 4 week gap? I need more rebels NOW!

I never got onboard the "Sabine is a Mary Sue" train but jeez, when Ezra exclaimed "they're in trouble" when she charged alone at like 5-6 stormtroopers, it was a bit too much. At this point the Rebels crew are like Dungeons and Dragons charaters - they're level 20 and they know low-level mooks can't possibly hurt them. I mean, I know it's a kid's show at the core, but trying to incorporate dark and broody Saw Gerrera and cheerfully soloing 6 troopers in the same episode is a bit too much. I know they always fight against overwhelming odds, but Rebels mostly tries to show that the crew respect their enemies and now Sabine just charges at them like "gimme a sec, gonna drop 6 mooks all by myself, be right back."

Well it did illustrate just how incompetent the entire crew of that cruiser was. They really deserve this backwater carrer dead end posting!

Just imagine if he was the reason Starkiller Base happened.

Confirmed: Snoke is Thrawn. :o

She was kinda hot.

I honestly think its because Sabine is going to die this season. They are exploring her story so much and developing her character very quickly. Plus it will hit Ezra hard.

So I think all of this Sabine awesomeness is the setup before the fall.

The whole episode (well two episode arch) felt very much like an RP group (as much of the first season did but for different reasons). The constant checking in on the radio thing. The newbie player introduced mid dungeon who always takes the direct (and often violent) approach and always ends up at logger heads with the group fairly quickly... Especially with the support class player who mother's the group. The min-maxed player who put points in crafting skills showing off her new toy (jetpack) and improvising to create and overpowered gizmo in the field.

I really enjoyed it :P
