STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

Could Thrawn's trap take place during Rouge one?

Imagine two more seasons of Thrawn letting them escape...

"Let them go...for now!" Mwahahahaha

I'd pull my hair out

This was really the problem with dumping Vader in right at season 2 - it was too soon to introduce that character.

I mean, I get why they did it in reality - ratings purposes, James Earl Jones still alive and doing voiceovers for other Star Wars material at that very moment (Rogue One) so it'd be easy enough to give him a handful of lines for 'Rebels', etc...

But from a story perspective...way too early to spring that villain on the Rebels. I mean, where do you even go from there? Thrawn is an interesting choice, but more a sidestep from Vader than a greater threat. Will they be facing the Emperor himself in season 5??

I dunno - for a show that REALLY NEEDED to have an over-arching story, it comes of feeling most of the time like they are 'shooting from the hip', as it were...

I hope the bounty-hunters show up as antagonists in a future season, but the next big bad after Thrawn? no idea. Maybe Jabba?

But are 'the bounty hunters' really a bigger threat than the Inquisitor? Arguably. Thrawn? Well, no. DARTH FREAKING VADER? Good grief , no!

Which was the complaint - springing VADER, of all things, on the Rebels really painted the writers into a corner. Short of the Emperor, himself, you just aren't going to get a higher-level villain opposing them. (I guess, arguably, Tarkin might qualify...but that's on a technicality, and we know he has to survive and still be in the Emperor's favor by Episode IV)

Who is the bigger threat? Heracles or Alexander? ;-)

Plus Filoni has said that they wanted to move away from the force using villains on the show, based off the line from A New Hope where the Imperials were saying Vader was the last of his kind. So I could see the season villains for the rest of the series just being Imperial officers and the like be it ones from the EU they recanonize or new ones. In that way I could see the Empire using the bounty hunters to find their rebel base or to hunt down key figures of the rebel cell. I mean who wouldn't love to see Embo, or Cad Bane show up as an antagonist for an episode or two?

...it's now part-way through the first quarter

Interesting, the engine arrangement seems different in R1:

Is this the difference between the 'Cruiser' and the 'Corvette' ?

IT NEEDED MORE VROOM

"Visions and Voices"

Where did Bendu go?

The better question is, was he ever really there?

Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimy.

"Visions and Voices" was a god episode.

So Maul now knows that Kenobi is on Tattoine, and now we know it was him he seeks and want to destroy. Ezra and Kanan only got the twin sun part (and perhaps the desert part) and are on his trail.

Interestingly, Ezra resisted the temptation of the dark side from Maul, but because to his "attachment" to his friends...such attachments may later be his fall.

So where does this take the story arc? All the way to Tattoine? with Maul and Kenobi fighting? Kenobi appearing in Rebels?

Or does Ezra and Kanan intercept him before or on Tattoine.

For X-wing we come close to the possibilities of Maul, his mandalorian Kom'rk ship, which would be a nice epic huge ship!! Being from Mandalmotors it would come nicely with a Starviper fix. And of course Maul (crew).

But if we get to Kenobi on Tattoine we may even get a Kenobi crew card - that would be awesome.

One thing that gave me goose bumps was, at the end when Sabine is walking out of the cave, she looks down and her eyes widen when she sees the Dark Saber and recognizes what it is.

Well that was quite something.

My spoiler free review of the mid-season finale - http://superdstuff.com/star-wars-rebels-visions-and-voices/

Not sure about Bendu; he was hardly helpful. Thought Ezra and Maul were great.

Guess we just have Rogue One to keep us going now ;)

Maybe an epic showdown on Tatooine between all 4 of them with only Kenobi surviving. Adds a little extra poignancy to his line "Now the Jedi are all but extinct".

Kisscartoon isn't working, guess I can't watch it. :(

The google is weak in this one. ;-)

I just really like kisscartoon is all, don't want to have to find some crappy site, or watch it in parts on YT. If it's not back up by tommorow ill find another site.

That can't be the same ship.

I doubt it's a Hammerhead-class Cruiser either.

Did anyone else have feels for Maul in this episode?

That can't be the same ship.

Or the Rogue One CGI crew is just not paying attention, or caring about such details.

This thing has fins on both side, it's no simple modification anyway.

Did anyone else have feels for Maul in this episode?

I did, right until I remembered that Maul is now a manipulative criminal mastermind.

While his whole "we could walk as brothers" line really did hit me in the feels, I question to the honesty of it. He knew that Ezra was wavering as he wanted to save his friends. Thus, the logical thing to do is to offer his own close friendship to Ezra in the hopes that he would latch on to that as a replacement for the emotional bonds he obviously needs.

But, at the same time, it could be his genuine emotions and sense of loss and pain. I'm personally hoping it is the second, as that would be an interesting route to see Maul take in the show.

Also, is anyone else pissed that Maul lost the Darksaber? Like, didn't even lose it, just straight left it behind knowing he would have to leave it behind. Like, dude. Put that on your ship, not some random cave on Dathomir. It's almost like he wanted Sabine to have it...

I guess its only fair for Sabine to keep the Darksaber since she lost her jet pack.

Good episode. Curious when this will be resolved.

I think Maul's "brother" comment was a breach of sincerity in his calculated manipulation.

So Sabine just became Mandalore, kinda, or at least head of clan Visla, right? Doesn't Pre Visla more or less say whoever weilds this sword is the rightful leader in TCW..something along those lines.

Maul will die by Ezra's hand after Maul kills Kanan in an attempt to bring Ezra full to the DS, he won't even reach Kenobi, Ezra will be the one to tell him in person, Ezra will find out who Luke is and go into self exile after failing Kanan and not being able to defeat the Sith....and that's my theory this week, I'm sure I'll have another one soon.

Maul fails to adjust his hyperspace calculation for Tatooine's movement over the last 20-30 years. He jumps into the suns and is instantly incinerated. Bendu gets tired of Kanan waking him up and eats him. Ezra becomes obsessed with finding Kenobi and searches every bianary star system until he dies of old age.

Looks like Rebels returns on January 7th as a double episode so that is pretty cool.
