So unrelated, but related to my comments a few pages up. I got the gig, having walked in the room wearing full TK plate, the guy just said "yeah we're casting you".
Fan film, the mask of Leia, coming soon peeps.

This is why the Helisabers are in there: get the next generation of kids excited for Star Wars.
It's actually a test to see if your kid is cool or not. If your kid likes the helisabers, you got a lame kid and should return it.

I love discussions of lightsabers and what is and is not practical.
This is Star Wars, folks. "Practical" rarely, if ever, enters into it.
Lightsabers: Cool. Practical as a cutting tool. Not very practical as a weapon - especially not for a group of peace-loving space monks who should probably be using mostly blasters set for stun. But everybody loves them.
Double-bladed lightsabers: Cool. Not practical. At all. Unless you're only using one blade at a time. In which case... yeah. But everybody loves them.
Reverse grip twin lightsabers: Cool. Not practical. But half of everybody hates them.
Triple-bladed or "longsword" lightsabers: Cool. More practical as a fighting weapon than any of the other lightsabers mentioned. But half of everybody hates them.
Nevermind the WWII-era GPMG-sized blaster rifles - which are never shown to have any benefits over the assault rifle-sized blaster rifles, nevermind the second generation SMG-sized blaster rifles.
See also: Death Stars, Starkillers, AT-ATs, TIE Fighters (virtually all of them), X-Wings, Z-95s, &c., &c., &c.
Point being: It doesn't matter whether it's practical or not. You want practical, you can incorporate that into your RPGs and you can choose not to use the less practical starfighters in your games of X-Wing. But ultimately, Star Wars is about what looks cool and works for the story.

Pics of me in TK or pics from the fan film? It shoots on the 15th.
As for pics of me in TK.
If you can get past drooling at page 9 (it's hard, I know) my wife and I are on slide 10.
Re practicality and star wars... I think I've said what I've needed to say there. Awesome but impractical, rule of cool etc.
Edited by DariusAPBI should probably add that the ability to use a lightsaber to fly - while looking stupid to adult eyes - is actually pretty practical.
I'm surprised no one has likened Ahsoka's reverse grip to a side handle baton, or in Chinese a Tonfu. I've always thought that's the technique she was going for.
Wouldnt that be Maris Brood, or early ventris (back when she used to reverse grip the curved-hilt sabres). ![]()
You know.. Thinking about it... The double ender, dual sabers and the reverse grip (before we get into crossguards and pistol/baskethilts) have really totally eclypsed the good old straight two hander in sabers since the prequels.
I did like it when the Inquisitors when single blade, especially the Grand Inquisitor. Not going to lie, though. I hope when Rey builds her saber, it is double bladed.

My kid likes the Helisabers and he's the opposite of a lame kid. Actually there really isn't any such thing as a lame kid. There are lame adults though. You can usually tell who they are by their attempts to put others down and make stupid jokes. It's actually a test, if you put others down in an attempt to make your miserable life seem better by comparison, you're a lame adult and should probably be depressed. Or just continue to play WoW in your mother's basement.

No, you're right. I'm sure every kid is actually awesome. They're never lacking in perspective or taste. Just ask anyone with a kid, they'll tell you, because they're super objective about the subject and don't have any personal investment in convincing you that they thing they've dedicated their lives to is the most awesome thing there is.

It's a duplex!
The loop on that is fantastic!

Again. Don't be that guy. The guy who makes fun of things that kids like to try and seem cool and edgy. No one likes him. Hes an *******.
I don't know what you're talking about. I was agreeing with him. All kids are amazing and never have bad opinions.

So. Sabine's mom was Deathwatch. Maul once ruled Deathwatch. Maul is now loose in the galaxy and in need of allies. Both Sabine and Maul are going to be central figures in season 3. Possible family reunion?
I dont mind the helisabers. Overall I like the Inquisitors lightsabers because they fit their character very well. They are not jedi nor sith, they are a military unit. They dont stand out on each own to have a personal lightsaber and they are not good enough to have a standard lightsaber.
To me that crazy lightaber works as the opposide side of the coin of Yoda and Palpatine not having a lightsaber at all (which is how it should have been).
I really like how they are trying to make things make sense by the time we get to the Original Trilogy, like how they are killing off the inquisitors so we don't wonder where they went.

Hm, I'm not sure there is no Inquisition anymore when the OT takes place. In ANH its the Rebels that have the initiative so there wouldn't be any inquisitors in their way. After that Vader knows its about his son which makes Luke his personal buisness.
What is it with Star Wars and threes? Movie trilogies.....3 seasons of Rebels....6 seasons of The Clone Wars? What are they, Minbari or something?
Always three there are. No more, no less.
The Gozanti, Arquitens, Consular, and (hammerhead transport) ships all have 3 engines, as does Luke's land speeder.. Astromechs have 3 legs. There are 3 living Skywalkers during the OT (and during Ep 7, depending on whether or not you consider Rey one). Star Wars now has 3 mascot droids.
DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUN!
Edited by BenderIsGreatOK...I finally saw the last two episodes over the weekend. So coooool! Loved it! The part where Vader's mask is cut off a bit and you see Anakin's eye...and his voice mixes with Vader's voice.....was just the best! Oh, man!
I did love the line, "Than you will die braver than most.", too. One of the best lines in Star Wars.
I will say that FINALLY someone thought to hack at the spinning part of the blades! I thought about that back in Season 1. It's the first thing I'd go after.
As for the heli-blades.....I started to think it was lame, but then just didn't want to get into a bad mood about it. I rolled with it and just sucked it up. It was a good episode and I've got no issues with the heliblades.
Finally, a saber is a slashing weapon, so when someone said they thought a lightsaber was probably better at slashing, they are most assuredly right. My wife fences saber. I'm constantly corrected that it's slashing, not stabbing when I make my poor jokes about her stabbing people.

1. That's how Kanan defeated the Grand Inqusitor in season 1 finale.
2. Saber, yes, but a lighsaber, while being a perfect at slashing, also appears to be a really good thrusting sword.
Just for the people saying reverse grip has NO use... That's also not quite true. There are more than a few historical fencing manuals which reference fighting with a dagger held down-hand usually paired with a sword. There are a number of theories as to why (armour penetration being one of the most popular ideas) I might also suggest that simply the broadening of attack options (as in there is stuff you can do with a downhanded knife which you cant with an uphanded when in a grapple) might make it worth it.... But they dont really carry over to full length lightsabers.
In modern combat training the reverse grip is sometimes used to confuse the defender. If the defender doesn't realize that you have a knife they assume you are throwing a punch and react differently. Something that the attacker can exploit. At least that's what my SF HtH trainer told me in the Army.
