STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

Trying to work out the physics behind it is kinda like working out the architecture of Ry'leh.

Don't try, it's better that way.

Meanwhile on Jedi group text message...

--Ashoka Tano left the conversation--
(Bing! New message.)
Obi-wan: How was Malachor?
Yoda: Bad.
Obi-wan: In what way? From what point of view?
Kanan: FROM EVERY POINT OF VIEW!
Ezra: Kanan's a little touchy right now... he isn't "viewing" much of anything anymore.
Kanan: QUIET, JABBA!
Yoda: Oooh, burned you are!
Obi-wan: I told you I don't like that phrase anymore...

Anakin: You don't like the PHRASE anymore?
--Yoda left the conversation--
--Kanan left the conversation--

--Ezra left the conversation--
Obi-wan: Well this is awkward.

Kallus is totally gonna defect / die trying to defect.

It would be pretty great if he and a grief-stricken angry Ezra traded sides.

Well, not for Kallus, because he'd still be getting owned in hand-to-hand by a kid.....

Do you think the "Die hard fans" moment Dave is talking about could be the introduction/creation of the Xwing?

And technically, Anakin is the chosen one, not Vader.

Technically, they are the same person. The idea that they are different is a purely philosophical one.

Well yes, but the person I was quoting there was saying that Obi-Wan had defeated Anakin not Vader... So following that logic I made that statement.

IRL, yes I would agree that statement holds up. But add in some morality aligned space magic shenangins and I stand by my statement in its original context.

Just because Obi-wan defeated Anakin Skywalker does not mean he could defeat Vader. Vader has had years of open sith training teaching him how to use his emotions to power himself up, Anakin didn't and it blinded him to thinking jumping over a lightsaber blender was a great idea. Fighting a true Sith Lord isn't the same as fighting a recently fallen Jedi. My final point would be that when Obi-wan does go up against Vader he decides that suicide is the best way to go.

Also can we get another TAP set now?

We have 3 more Inquisitors and Maul as pilots now.

What about Luke? He gets pissed off and he not only survives confrontation with Vader, he massacres him. And even if Luke has a lot of midichlorians great Force potential, at this point in time he was after at best 4 years of training, not a very intensive one. That's nothing compared to Ahsoka's training and experience when it comes to lightsaber combat. And she was also pissed off.

@UP I'm not sure Maul would feel comfortable flying alongside Vader's TIE and Palpatine's Alabaster Space Walrus...

Maybe we will get him in Scum fraction, if he tries to restart the little business enterprise he left when **** hit the fan on Mandalore back in the days of the Clone Wars.

The more I think about it, the more I say she has to be alive, because there was no death blown shown, and there isn't a single major character in Star Wars who died without one. Even then some supposedly came back like Boba Fett or Darth Maul

So unless there was an actual death blown shown, then Ahsoka would be very nearly unique in the whole Star Wars galaxy.

Palpatine was just tossed down a pit.

Same with Maul, and look where we are.

Soooooo when do we get maul as a TIE/adv Prototype pilot? Will he be scum only?

(or better yet, appear only in a scenario on a booklet or something. That would be cool)

Do you think the "Die hard fans" moment Dave is talking about could be the introduction/creation of the Xwing?

Most people seem to think/hope Dave Filoni is hinting that the leak a while back about Thrawn being season 3's big bad would b true.

The thing that die hard fans want? Could it be the introduction of Han Solo and/or Boba Fett? I'm hoping it's more Hondo. Everything's better with Hondo Ohnaka.

Boba Fett would be cool but I thought we already were introduced to Han and Chewie?

I mean, he shoots a man alien at a space bar in a desert right off the bat in that movie.

Then again, we saw leia after she was introduced in episode 4 in the middle of season 2.

Will we get to see the Mon Calamari Defection? Wedge? The heist of the X-wings? Wedge? Thrawn and the Chiss? WEDGE?

Why is their almost no screen-time or cartoons for the "best pilot in the rebellion?"

from wookieepedia: The Rebel Alliance soon reorganized into the New Republic, and Antilles continued to serve in their war against the Empire. Antilles undertook a lone reconnaissance mission to the planet Akiva , where he was captured while observing a gathering of Imperial forces that were preparing for a counterattack against the Republic.

Oh. Well ****. Should of stayed in that cockpit.

Then again, why was "the best pilot in the rebellion" stationed at an unimportant base on some moon that the falcon fled to? CONSPIRACY!

Would love to see Rebels extend through Battle of Yavin and even go beyond the destruction of the second Death Star and the establishment of the New Republic.

During Yavin, Hera and crew could be creating a diversion and leading half the imperial fleet on some wild goose chase away to the other side of the galaxy, unable to support the first Death Star.

After Endor, would Kanan go back to being called Caleb Dume? It would be great to see them hunt down moffs/warlords and imperial remnants.

Nobody before called me delusional. Oh my feelings...

First of all, wow what an episode. A fantastic finale. Mr. Filoni does it again.

My thoughts are that Ahsoka isn't dead, and I think Rex will go find her. The way she has been this season she at least deserves a death by the Emporrer's hand.

As for What was hinted at in Rebels recon, I think its the death star. You can't have seeds of rebellion without the death star! And the rogue one tie in is fantastic!

So what you're saying is...unique pilot for the Mining Guild TIE!

The helisabers, um, other issues aside, wouldn't they be quite vulnerable to force attacks and/or blasters?

Ahsoka, dead or alive? Based on the ending, probably alive, presumably Vader believes that she's dead. Whether she knows he's alive, I don't know, you'd think she'd try to stop him from leaving if so. If Ahsoka "pulls a Yoda" and survives past RotJ, it leaves an interesting option of Anakin sending Luke to find her, to help rebuild the Jedi. Maybe she does, or maybe she refuses, and Luke later sends Kylo, hoping that she can teach him the truth about Anakin's fall and the dangers of the darkside, but it backfires.

At the end, did anyone else recall the last thing (that we saw) that Kanan told Hera before they left? "We'll see each other again, I promise."

Personally I hope she is dead.

I also hope that we get to see the last final moments of the clash as a flashback or a force vision, and see if a bit of his ani-personality surfaced before being crushed and repressed by his "vader" personality and he goes back to psychopathic normal.

But if she is dead then we don't see it strung out but ended in an amazing season closer.

We might see her if someone goes into a jedi temple or a certain cave on dagoba though, as a force ghost in the flesh, so to speak.

OMG!!!! That last episode was AMAZING!!!

Some tidbits from a Filoni interview on io9:

http://io9.gizmodo.com/the-producer-of-star-wars-rebels-answers-your-burning-q-1768048083

Ahsoka: to be determined

Ezra: gets a new lightsaber (likely with no gun)

Maul: more in s3

Grand Inquisitor: was one of the temple guards who arrested Ahsoka

Malachor: just borrowing the name so dont read too much into it (boo)

and more

I'm...not sure how this is even being debated? We see her walking down that tunnel at the end of the episode - she's plainly still alive.

Which is a bit annoying, as it really takes a big bite out of the impact the episode SHOULD have had. It was certainly spun up over the course of the season as the big Vader vs Ahsoka confrontation , and in the end they just...fought and walked away? Meh??

I mean, I like 80% of the episdode (I'd have said 95%, but... gawds those helicopter lightsabers... ), but it really felt like they didn't "stick" the ending in the way they needed to.

(And honestly, it diminished a bit of the rest of the episode - we see the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother finally defeated, but it's almost brushed aside because we all know THE BIG FINALE is coming, only... it doesn't .)

I sort of get the sense that they intended for her fate to be "forever marooned on Malachor" and written out of the story here, but...ehhhh...there were three Inquisitors, Vader, and the good guys all on the surface. Vader, good guys, and Maul all left accounting for three ships. That means there are still two Inquisitor TIEs on the planet. Ahsoka is hardly even inconvenienced , honestly....she should be back in the fight in a day or two.

Also can we get another TAP set now?

Oh?

Forgetting someone?

I WANT CHOPPER FLYING A TAP!

(Hell, we saw him doing more in it than we saw the Eighth Brother doing, or even Maul!)

I feel like Eighth Brother doesn't even deserve his own pilot card.

We need, like, a generic Inquisitorius Agent card.

I watched it again. DarthenderX (and others) called it when they said "If you wanted ambiguous, you wouldn't see her walking deeper into the temple".

That's not ambiguous. that's alive and in self exile.

I really hope that's Darth Traya... (It's not, but a fanboy can dream).

On the not discussed enough subject of Kanan.

He's just become a whole lot more badass. "Your eyes can deceive you, don't trust them"...

He no longer has any reliance on his sight, so i'm expecting nothing short of him going full blind master.

Again, an incredibly ridiculous episode. Helisabers, reverse-grip lightsaber fighting all over, I am tired of this sh.. .
Too bad, because Maul and his relation with Ezra was really well done (way better than the turning of a certain Anakin in Ep III).

No issues with reverse grip sabre fighting. Rule of cool applies.

Helisabres...

I think we can all agree on that one.
