STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

T-16s aren't just airspeeders, they can achieve suborbital altitudes and even make orbit with the proper modifications.

At any rate, why are humans piloting fighters when droids would be far superior and probably mush cheaper? (If we are getting technical with realism in a space opera fantasy saga)

Droids have no intuition

Droids are dumber than people

Droids have no intuition

Don't need it with reaction times 1/1000th that of biological units. Also superior predictive programming should be a suitable substitute for intuition, which isn't foolproof anyway. Not to mention robot pilots can be downloaded with millions oh hours of flight time combat experience before even their first battle.

Droids in star wars that could actually match organics cost more than organics do.

So it's either pay out the ears for just the hardware or go super cheap and be vulnerable to the weaknesses of droids.

That's just the ways star wars works.

Not all droids, and not all people.

AHSOKA DEATH FLAGS! AHSOKA DEATH FLAGS EVERYWHERE!!!

So in the Rebel Recon preview, Ahsoka and Rex have an exchange that almost exactly mirrors their VERY FIRST CONVERSATION.

Clone Wars Movie:

Ahsoka (young): So if you're a captain, and I'm a Jedi, I technically outrank you, right?

Rex: In my book, experience outranks everything.

A: Well then, I'd better start getting some.

Preview:

R: I could have ordered you to take me along.

A: You don't exactly outrank me any more.

R: In my book, experience outranks everything.

A: Hrmph. Then I definitely outrank you.

...While the sad motif of Jedi plays in the background.

I'm watching the Clone Wars cartoon now, and that exchange IMMEDIATELY caught my attention. It's jarring and sad to jump between young, hopeful Ahsoka and experienced and guarded Ahsoka.

The first time the two meet again is apparently a deep cut reference to the movie too

Noooooooooo!

Is all I have to say about that. I really hope Ahsoka exists at least another season.

Looking forward to Maul.

Also, a clip.

Wasn't Darth Maul cut in half years ago?

Yeah, I know. He is alive in the new canon. One more BS in a reset that happened to fix the Legends' old BSs...

Darth Maul being alive comes from TCW, which has always been canon. The Darth Maul story arcs were some of that series highlights and I can forgive them how nonsensical it is to resurrect him because its an amazing character design that was in the movie so little that it never got the chance to develope an actual character. TPM wasted Maul and I think it is absolutely fine that TCW and now Rebels are fixing that.

Except, that was when Lucas still had creative control and wasn't even considering selling it to Disney. Close but no cigar bro.

This guy explains it perfectly.

Ehhh...kinda.

He has like 4 appearances in TCW, and each one is an improvement over the last one. It starts off terrible and ends amazingly.

In star wars, the ship controls are relatively simplified for flight, so the main skill involved is amazing reactions. So yeah, swoop bike, (which does have some vertical adjustment, isn't just 2dplane) starfighter, T-16 back home. Comparable, compatible.

Seems the show is following the Supernatural style of storytelling. One or two funny episodes just before the season ending, then it's the barbwire wrapped baseball bat round the head!

Now we just have to make it thorugh Monday and Tuesday to get to the finale. It's going to be long....

Longer then that since it's a two parter

I meant the days waiting are going to be long.

Maul being alive actually comes from Lucas himself. I think in the middle of the Savage arc, Lucas just said "@#$% it, let's bring Maul back".

You know, those dead spiders + some duct tape would make the best hull armour ever.

5 red dice to the face and barely even stunned, repeatedly. Gotta respect that.

Same here. We have to wait two long days for the first part that will probably leave us on a cliff hanger. Then a really long seven days to see what happens.

Anyone notice Ezra mention something about being the "last jedis"?

And like it or not, interspecies is full canon:

Why the heck do male Twi'leks have actual ears, but females have nubs?

Does anoyone else really want to see a Raider corvette or Decimator show up in the show? would be so epic!

I'd freak out about a Raider. Who knows, maybe someone on the Rebels crew enjoys X-Wing...

The Raider would stand out so much too. next to Gozantis are ARGH KITTENS, it would be so noticable.

edit: and wouldn't take to much work for the animators to put in.
