STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

There was something called a Thranta-class corvette in the KOTOR era.

And a Thranta Class War Cruiser in the Clone wars era EU (an automated example was found in the X-wing books).

I'd like these to be called Thranta-class.

I've been aboard one.

They aren't Thrantas. Not at all.

 In a game I assume?

Well. Obviously.

The Thranta is a weird ship though. Lots of size discrepancies. But it doesn't have an over-under engine setup like these cargo haulers.

Ah! It's a corvette with a broken neck. :)

So for those of us in the UK, this is presumably coming back on Saturday the 23rd if the schedule from last year is stuck to. I for one can't wait, I loved the first series and this one has been even better thus far (although the villains aren't quite stacking up to the original Inquisitor, but Ashoka and Rex make up the awesomeness quota).

I would like them to be Thranta war cruisers as well really. I've always had a soft spot for them to the point that my primary character in a series of Star Wars MUSHes was the son of one of the design team. The person running he mush was planning an event where we would find one of the trio sent out with another chance but it never happened.

... What if Rebels hasn't had the x-wing shown yet, and is using A and B wings because they've been specifically told not to? So that it's first appearance is indeed in Rogue one?

Next Epic ship for X-wing?... whatever the Hell those were in the preview.

Question is - what faction? Leia is an Imperial Senator in this episode, apparently sympathetic to the Rebels (per the preview clip), but the ships she's flying in on would be...what? SURELY not Rebel, they are crawling with Storm Troopers. Don't look even remotely Imperial, but that'd be the closest match.

Unfortunately, they feel a bit like an awesome design without a home. Perfect scale for an Epic in the game, but...no openings for it.

...so Rebels.

Could it perhaps be a dual faction ship for both Rebs and Imps? That would a) mean there was no need to balance it with another Huge Ship release, b) work thematically if these ships are both standard Imperial diplomatic transports and something Leia presumably bring with her to the Alliance. We already have existing multi-faction ships between Scum and the others, why not between Rebels and Imperials?

Ohhhhh, me gusta ! No seriously I like that idea.

I am 98% certain that the only reason X-wings have not shown up in rebels is that TFA alreeady called dibs on the concept art styled X-wings

I think they addresssed this in the rebels recon.

In universe reasons have been adressed

This was a differenct cell from what wee see in the films.

I meant from a meta perspective

(I understood that!)

I really do like the idea of waiting 'til Rogue One.

(Vader Voice) She is rebel spy!

...so Rebels.

Leia , of course, absolutely and unquestionably Rebels. Even at this point, no doubt.

The *ships* she was flying? From what we saw, even in that clip, she seemed to have fairly low trust in what her compatriots would do if they saw Ezra and Kanan out of disguise. So I don't think it'd be fair to call them 'Rebel'.

Truly, it makes the most sense to call them 'Imperial', and I wouldn't mind that - they are dead sexy ships, but...they don't kinda fit.

Insanity. Insanity is what is going on.

Wow. Wow. That was the definitition of awesome! Cham Syndula returning from Clone Wars, Ashoka and Vader and Anakin! Yoda! Jedi! Leia!

Basically, bring it on!

Seem to be forgetting

Maul

The chance of any Rebels characters, save Chopper, appearing in anything outside of rebels is slim to none. Most of the characters seem destined to die by the series finale go into exile never to be seen again. I doubt we will see both Rex and Asohka survive this season either.

My predictions:

Ahsoka: Killed by Vader

Rex: Killed by Vader

Kanan: sacrifices himself to save Ezra

Ezra: Turns to the dark side

Sabine: returns to bounty hunting or whatever. she lives

hera: she lives. does whatever.

Zeb: does whatever.

Agent Kallus: Killed by zeb.

Chopper: stays with Hera, whatever she ends up doing.

You can't make a post that says "My Predictions" and then have half of the characters doing "Whatever..." It would have been better to simply omit those characters and only include those that you had solid predictions for. IMO.

Maul

Didn't catch him the first time round, but oh god, I hope it is him!

Wow that was cool. The guys in white are jedi temple guardians

Jedi_temple_guard.PNG

I spied a third inquisitor.

A giant sith holocron

a tie bomber

yoda

an orange planet - kind of looks like korriban, maybe that's where the sith holocron is?

jedi logo in the temple place

the guy in the hood has nightbrother markings on his face (like darth maul)

a yellow tie fighter, that ezra slashes

and of course, a tri-blade - the EW article states that Kylo's saber was labeled as 'from an ancient design'

In X-wing terms, we are getting Bombers and an Alliance escort carrier (or Quasar Fire-class bulk cruiser). I think I saw an Advanced being blown up, but it could've been a bomber, I guess.

Man, Phoenix Squadron SUCK.

How many A-wings down now.

A-wings. The PINNACLE of Space superiority starfighters with the only exceptions being Advanced and Defenders...

Toasted a couple times an episode.

You know forget it. Stormtroopers are doing alright, A-wing pilots need to step up their game.

Well, they are named appropriately. Death is a big part of the Phoenix...
