STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

Just joined the forum, mostly because the Rebels episode with Hera made me really interested in the Star Wars ships, and you guys seem to know alot about that stuff. And I'm also very curious about everyone's opinons on Star Wars. But anyways Rebels.

So what's different between the B-Wing in Rebels and the usual ones?

The B-Wing we saw was the prototype for what will eventually become the B-Wings we see in the films.

I really like the show, and I'm excited to get ships from it in the game. Yes, it's obviously made with kids as the primary target. But since I have a kid, this show gives me a way to share my love of Star Wars with her that is pretty relatable to her. She knows nothing of the original movies. I am hoping this show will be her tie in.

I don't care much for the organic art (ships and armored characters are fairly amazing though). The dialog is a bit dull at times. And I find Ezra annoying more often than not. However, there are a lot of things to like, IMO. I like the characters though (anyone who sees Sabine as a Boba Fett wannabe isn't looking past the shape of the helmet). I love how they tie into the Clone Wars repeatedly, with Asoka and Rex (probably my favorite two Clone Wars characters aside from Kenobi). I also love how it's a whole new cast of characters from the original movies, who can tie in with those characters I already love.

I am totally in on getting SW Rebels ships and cards in this game. Totally in. :)

In can understand why they chose to set the show around 5 years before ANH. It gives them the ability to show most of the ships and characters from the rebellion era and saves on having to design way too much stuff from scratch. But I do think it's a shame we didn't get to see the old CW ships in Imperial colors. The show we got can be dark enough at times. Imagine a series that was a sequel to TCW that showed in detail how the remaining Jedi were hunted down and the entire galaxy was brutally brought under the power of the Empire. Kinda like an entire series of the last 45 or so minutes of ROTS.

Sabine and Zeb need way more backstory and character growth.

She's no boba but.... just who is she other than a young girl who doesn't like the empire much, and likes drawing?

Um, the canon Boba is pretty hollow unless there's some new Disney/marvel comics that give him some better backstory than AOTC/CW. And he EU boba wasn't something I particularly liked.

Zev and Sabine will have their time, they have at least a couple more years to work in backstory and flesh out everyone just in time for the 'everybody dies, everybody cries' finale. (Spoilers) I'm confident I will have flashbacks to Transformers 1986. I'm actually more excited about Chopper's backstory...

That's what this season has been focusing on.

Don't you worry. We got a new lease with years of films to come, there'll be a grimmy Star Wars thing at some point.

(Just remember watermelometaphor.)

Well, that is an interesting take that the Senate, and most likely the Appropriations Commitee, were hampering the build up of military hardware, but the vast number of ISDs alone show how inaffective that was. I suppose as long as the Rebellion used hit and run tactics on capital ship convoys with their assault fighters (basically X, Y and B wings were designed to take out capital ships, with As able to do serious damage with what ever missiles they were throwing around in ROTJ) the Senators sympathetic to the rebellion would have pushed through only short range fighters and huge capital ships with exploitable vulnerabilities. That's a different way of looking at things.

However the Avenger and Defender were slated for full production after the senate was desolved, but the loss of their factories and the internal strife with Harkov and Zaarin made it so that neither fighter saw any large numbers. The death of the emperor sealed the fates of these wonderfully Advanced fighters.

Also those two admirals as well as Thrawn were big into fighters, with Thrawn also utilizing both fighters and capital ships to great effect.

Now from what I have seen Thrawns right hand man, I cant remember his name, gave a number for howmany SD IMP 1 were in the IMP fleet. His number was based soully on the imp 1 and pre hoth buildup. Around the time of hoth the IMP sd doubled in number at the least, although if you use the se atlas and rebel guide from wotc that has the deployment numbers, or the imperial hand book, the numbers of just imperial class stardestroyers should be dramatically higher. They had tens of trilions of imp navy members and imp army.

Well I know despite the imp2 class being 50% superior to the imp 1 in fire power it did have over onehundred designe drawbacks that could be exploted. Although you didnt see it happen very often.

The Defender has appeared in a primary source, another rts moble game, as well as the ffg x-wing game. It should have still come from the X7 while the Interceptor shpuld still have come from the X3.

Question:

Do you think that Mara Jade could fit perfectly in this new archetype of Inquisitor? I could see her as a favourite Inquisitor of the Emperor and sent to keep an eye on Luke Skywalker.

Hands deal with killing every type of enemy to the empire, most cant use the force. It would be out of theire field to be used as assassins.

Ha, confirmation that the Ghost has torpedoes.

We did just see a seperatist shuttle in the Rebel fleet.

Did you guys see that! Tie fighters killed a rebel ship! the Empire did somthing!

also, did anyone else notice on the CR90, that where the Awings usually dock, there was a gun, what's up with that? Are all the Awings dead?

I wouldn't be surprised, seems like 2 or 3 die every episode.

That's the issue with bringing in Phoenix Squadron into this game. You have to make them PS 0.

Have you seen how quickly they lose pilots?

I think the episodes are great..a bit of cliche but bearable..

Well, judging by this weeks episode, FFG got it right regarding the Ghost and torpedoes.

Yes, but I don't include the "Siege of Lothal" episode, there they were facing Vader. Even at 12-to-1 they were lucky to get some fighters away from him.

Gunboat? What are these shenanigans?

Also, please someone just try to call this show kiddy after this episode.

This was an amazing episode. It felt like it was over in 5 minutes; I was totally drawn in for the whole thing. Ezra's power is really starting to scare Kanan, I think. He is getting more powerful in every episode. You can see that Ezra will soon be more powerful, but need Kanan's calming presence to relieve him of his stress. I think we're going to see a lot more of the inquisitors making Ezra emotional to try to pull him to the dark side.

I feel like FFG designers got to watch the whole season before designing the ships and cards, I love how accurately the show is portayed in the game! :D

That episode was top notch.

I'm really looking forwards to watching it with the kids tonight.

Yeah. But they did not get to fire them.

Yeah. I really got a lump in the throat at the end of the episode when Ezra met with the mysterious stranger on Lothal and found out what happened to his parents.

So, apparently this was the mid-season finale. if my ITunes collection of season one is any guide we have 4 episodes left in season 2 and we'll see those starting in January.

Guys, come on, can we at least keep it spoiler free for... i dunno, 24 hours?
