STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

The immobilizer-418 was supposed to have been built on a 'standard' cruiser hull, yet we never see the cruiser it was based on, just the Intereictor variant. I'm guessing those ships would have served a role much like escort frigates and the smaller 'cruisers' we've seen in rebels, only somewhat bigger. I can imagine some large gun emplacements where the gravity well generators are placed.

The Immoblizer 418 was canon long before this episode came out. It appeared in Tarkin, along with pretty much every other GCW era or early Imperial era Interdictor class, and again in Heir to the Jedi.

I really like how much of a main character chopper is becoming. He has been crucial for the past two episodes.

We do see the Vindicator in a couple of things. Not much though, also somehow the vindicator in old canon could carry 72 fighters, despite being a third the size of an Imperator.

Do those take place before Rebels or after? Because this episode is pretty clear that Interdictors didn't exist until now. Or at least, if they did, they were secret and nobody had ever heard of them before.

Droids are always crucial to the plots in Star Wars, because nobody seems to be able to use a computer on their own. Whether the droid becomes an actual character or not depends on whether it has a personality that makes you care about it.

With artificial intelligence being ubiquitous it stands to reason that computers in that Galaxy are so complex that it takes a dedicated computer to understand and diagnose them. And probably another computer to dumb that down further for regular humons to understand.

Must have been all internal hangers. The Interdictor also carried 2 full squadrons....somewhere.

And these ships were only less than 1/3 the length of an ISD, meaning they had like 1/27th the volume.

Imperator

For what it's worth, I believe the CR-90's size is much more in-line with that of XWMG's size for it. Look at the A-Wings attached to the side.

The X-wing version is actually half the size it should be.

I hope this is not the case for the Interdictor. :(

Nonetheless, great episode!

So now we know that:

Stormtrooper armor does protect against some blaster bolts. (Ezra deflected one into a guy right after he said "I won't hurt you.")

The helmets.... are bad. No quality testing in the future?

The butt-stroke is a common technique in the future. (I counted at least 4 pistol-whips in this episode alone.)

Aside from that, Kanan and Rex doing the Clone Wars Jedi-trooper combo was kinda nostalgic. ^_^

The tarkin novel also features the interdictor being tested. So presumably this is not the only time it shows up.

But that book has the testing end in a particularly dismal failure. the interdictor is too good at its job and accidentally yanks several hundred ships out of hyperspace in a few seconds, followed by extremely rushed orders to "shut it down" and the empire having to spend week cleaning up the mess and compensating the random civilians they hurt.

Yep, that's kinda' what was implied in what I said.

Well, it's nice to know they at least care.

"S**t we're sorry this one's on us."

Im sure all the Alderaan survivors were compensated as well.

Oh, absolutely. In plasma.

Neither. it's a superLASER duh.

It is interesting to note that they do not identify the Interdictor here as an Immobilizer 418. We know the model exists five years after the formation of the empire (Tarkin), and this episode takes place ten years later. While they used Sabine to inform the rebels about the existence of the Interdictor, I can take that to mean the technology was discussed in general. Still doesn't explain how the rebels can escape Hoth, but there's nothing yet to say tried and true interdictors aren't more common by the OT. In fact even in Tarkin they (and several other models) are described as being deployed to protect the core.

Anyway, a nice episode. One gaffe I saw was that A-Wings weren't always mounted to Pheonix One, because in one shot from the hangar you can see a turbolaser cannon attached to that mounting peg.

A clone's review of stormtrooper armor starts to put a perspective on just how stormtrooper armor is in this new canon. Poor accuracy can be blamed on the helmet, which even Luke complains later "I can't see a thing....".

On a final note I'm happy to see the Arquitens making more and more of an appearance. Deploying Imperials at everything seemed kind of wasteful and the Gozanti is really an armed freighter. Hopefully we'll see some Arquitens before long in Armada.

ARGH KITTENS!!!!

How I see it pronounced.

Speaking of the Arquitens, I was hoping it would be another Epic contender later on down the road but unfortunately it seems to be about twice the size of a CR90...... Thats a shame its such a good looking vessel.

Maybe Space rocks can do one, or Mel...

I'd like to see the consular class too.

Based on the new EOE campaign, I have a feeling that will be the scum epic ship

Overall a fantastic episode and a huge improvement over the last one (Which had a lot of potential but squandered it). Loved seeing Rex and Kanan's unfriendly bickering develop into friendly banter.

Keep in mind both Luke and Rex were wearing ill-fitting armor. I can imagine the vision being less of an issue when fitted properly.

That would be awesome if We saw the Raider flying in the backround.

Did the EU ever state if he Executor had gravity well projectors?

We really don't know the range of those things, but if an Immobilzer or two were part of Death Squadron at Hoth they may have been too close to the Ion cannon and got taken out early. I would assume any interdictors would have been prime targets.

Hoth was rapidly put together. There simply may not have been one of those ships on hand.
