STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

You know what would be an amazing addition to this series?

Thrawn as an Imperial Agent. Before he received his first Star Destroyer command.

One of Thrawn's claims to fame is how he can analyze the artwork of someone and understand how their mind works and predict what they're going to do.

One of the main characters of this show leaves artwork on everything.

No.

That would be hilarious. Thrawn would be able to predict what one gunner could do but would have no clue what any of the pilots or commanders would do. Thrawn gets his @%% handed to him on a silver platter. I love this idea. :)

I suppose he would, if that were his only talent. Fortunately, that's not the case.

It really bugged me that for some reason they couldn't see a decent-sized "derelict" ship, right in front of them. I can see how it could be hard for the star destroyer to miss after first coming out of hyperspace, but those ties were not that far from it when they went down to the planet. Even later when it drifted closer...whatever took the AT-ATs to the surface surely would have seen it.

Yeah. I myself would have prefered the Tie and SD to be mere moving dots on the Ghosts windshield but took it as a deliberate artistic choice over realism to create nice and comprehensible visuals and a certain kind of dread.

The problem is that at some point in Legends Thrawn went from a very skilled military commander to a Marty Stu, or I suppose Marty Szu would be more appropriate. It got to the point were pretty much any good ideas the Empire had in the OT era were tied to him somehow. (Highlights include him creating the basic strategy behind Death Squadron's early campaigns, and figuring out that the rebel convoy ambushed at Dera IV would be there then using that information and information on the convoy's contents to roughly figure out where Echo base was)

Gary Stu*, for reference.

I suppose Gary works just as well I've always defaulted to Marty to describe such characters since the female form is Mary. Whatever you call them I feel that Thrawn became one.

Marty Stu is the term TVTropes uses.

Right, the best kind of character.

Besides, I think it's safe to say he wouldn't be that in Rebels, because if he was, the Rebels would all lose and there'd be no Rebellion.

Apologies if answered elsewhere but I want to avoid spoilers if possible. Are the two episodes from season 2 (Lost Commanders and Relics) the Siege of Lothal split into two parts or are they separate episodes entirely.

In other words can I just buy a season pass from Amazon or do I need to pay an extra $6!! for one (longer) episode.

Siege of Lothal is a separate, longer episode. Lost Commanders picks up right where it left off.

It's weird. Siege of Lothal are the first two episodes of Season 2. But, the listings are showing Lost Commanders as episode 1.

Think of Siege of Lothal as a 2-part special, inbetween both seasons. Similar to how Doctor Who does it's Christmas Specials.

And I fear Disney won't EVER do Thrawn. He is too beloved, and there would be so much backlash from ever critic saying "Thrawn would NEVER have done THAT", or "Thrawn would have seen through that ruse easily".... he is on a pedastal so high than few could dare portray him to the satisfaction of the masses.

Get Greg Weisman to do it.

If he can do David Xanatos , he can do Thrawn.

Disney has balls bigger than a sun.

They had big enough ones to slap the EU right in the face and say, "We're gonna' cut so much fat, you're gonna' look anorexic. But by the time we're done feeding you what we want you to eat, you're going to be the sexiest beast on the block- do you understand?"

"B-bu"

*SLAP* "We quite LITERALLY OWN YOU."

Sadly, Weisman already left the series.

Sadly, Weisman already left the series.

On the plus side, that means it actually might run longer than two seasons.

Eh, David Kaye could do a pretty good Thrawn (Megatron in most of the 90s-00s TF shows).

Sadly, Weisman already left the series.

Oh ****, I didn't even realize he produced season 1.

I was just suggesting him based on Gargoyles and Young Justice.

He's still writing the Kanan comic, though.

Alright, sorry if this is spoileriffic but can I just say that those TIE pilots were a disgrace? I get missing a barn sized VCX100... constantly, at least that was moving. But... Missing what they missed, which was barely moving, at essentially point blank? HOW?

I think Disney will do Thrawn. And I think that when they do him, he will be better than he ever was before.

Hey, the walkers missed it too.

I was also baffled.

The walkers at least drew a bead when they got close enough and messed it up plenty.... Also had a Rousing re-enactment of every submarine movie ever, but the TIE's... that's just terrible. Like, from that angle, with that less cover it should be impossible for them to miss.
