STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

Hi I'm new here - Venator

About SW: Rebels. The show has great potential, but it feels too cartooney to me. It's not good that the Clone Wars was cancelled. Too many loose ends to tie over.

One of the last episodes was about Vader, and it's nice that he's a badass there.

PS: Captain Lackwit, remember Venator from the IA II forums ? If this is you (Daruchias, Captain Lackwit), please send me a PM on this forum or something. I've been trying to reach some of you guys for some time. The IA II forum is down, and communication is lost.

You know, someone should do a comic about a bare chested Kenkirk punching out ming the merciless expies and getting with the Miralian lady. That'd be awesome.

Though I don't really care for this series so far, I will give it credit for this:

Once Ahsoka showed up, it made me want to go back and watch the rest of Clone Wars, which I'd stopped watching halfway through.

And that show gets really good in the later seasons. So I'm really glad I did that.

I think Hondo was my favorite character. :P

Definitely. I'm so glad he is going to show up in rebels.

... When that kid grows up they need to turn him into one of those billy goat aliens.

Gotally.

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED IT

Though why wouldn't you?

The arc where they write Ahsoka out of the show is one of the best of the series.

My favorite ep is when Grievous goes in with the army and demolishes the Night Sisters, though. My God, if he'd realized what Sidious was doing and rebelled, we'd have one hell of a villain around today....

Because that worked out soooo well for Vader.

vader didn't have zombie night sisters!

I'm about to finish up Season 3 with my 10 year old son. It's the first time for both of us watching The Clone Wars. We both got excited to see Captain Tarkin in the last 3 episodes. I got him to love Tarkin after he appeared in Rebels. I told who he was. Then, we listened to the audio book with Tarkin and Vader. So, he's a fan now.

The Clone Wars made me think about something purely because how well written it is. I had always thought it best to introduce new people (aka kids) to Star Wars by watching Episodes IV-VI...and then go back and watch (fan edited) Episodes I-III (with Clone Wars thrown in between II and III). I asked my son what he thought would be the best way to have someone watch it now. He said to watch I and II, then the Clone Wars cartoon, then III, Rebels, then the rest of the movies. I am starting to really come around to it. You get introduced to Tarkin and a whole bunch of different characters. If you really don't know what happens, there is some cool foreshadowing that goes on about Anakin. It makes you actually like Anakin and makes more sense that he goes to the Dark Side than what is based in the movies. I think any future kid or hermit that has never seen the movies, I think I would have them watch things in that order.

TL-DR: TCW fixes the prequels.

I have no idea what this means. I get T(he)C(lone)W(ars), but I don't get TL-DR.

I also recommend "Fall of the Jedi" fan edit for the prequel episodes.

TL-DR is an acronym for too long didn't read.

I read it all, but I figured it could (albeit semi jokingly) be summed up in that the TCW series fixes the prequel era (as left in an unkempt state by the movies).

I wouldn't say it fixes the movies. It just goes a long way to fixing the universe that the movies almost destroyed.

The movies themselves are still mostly terrible.

Try the "Fall of the Jedi" fan edits. Even my crotchetty old father ended enjoying Episode I when he swore never to watch it again.

Do you have a link? I've looked for these a couple of times and not been able to find them.

I wouldn't advise you go to a place where those that sail under the jolly roger park their boats in a protected cove type place.

Who would ever advise such a thing?

GASP! Tortuga?!.... Oh the bay... Thing... With the... 'Pirates'... Yeah I got you.

Look, on topic. I just wish they'd hurry up and air the next season already. I'm losing interest. :(

I wouldn't consider the clone wars a fix, I thought it was very hit or miss anything with Amidala in it is terrible (honestly, I just finishing up season 6, and I liked the Jar Jar episodes better than the Amidala/Emo Skywalker ones), anything with the mandalorians in it (which you would think would be cool, because hey Mandalorians) is boring as hell, Ashoka is completely annoying and for me at least knocks any episode she's in down a point. In fact in some cases it ruined what I liked about the prequel movies, like the Darth Maul episodes. Darth Maul was the coolest thing in episode I, but the TCW kinda ruined the character for me, I'm also confused why Maul was an apprentice of Dooku, and why Dooku has an apprentice at all, but I actually kinda like ventress so I'll let it slide.

TBH the only episodes I did actually really like were the Clone trooper ones and the bountyhunter ones, and a few of the jedi ones were okay despite Ashoka

Maul spoke too much and glared too litle...!

Mandalorians were fanbait and Cosplay-Merchandise.

Amidala is a wangsty Leia-Ripoff in any incarnation.

Also, too many Jedi, too few ordinary heroes.

The clone trooper episodes were the best, Mandalorians were simplified for kids politics generally. Nontheless I liked it, and would like to see more fem-mandos (I have a daughter, I want her to be a futuristic bounty hunter when she grows up, she loves Sabine).

I still want a series which portrays stormtroopers as actually badass.

Decided to give Rebels a final chance. "Siege of Lothal" or smth.

Here comes Vader, single-highhandedly owning a squadron of A-wing and a corvette. No that is a Sith Lord we deserved, then, suddenly when faced against the main heroes he fails to hit ship the size of a barn.
Let's do a recap, first He destroys with pin-point accuracy nimble A-wings and than fails against ship that spins, slowly I may add.

So yeah. It's just sad

Yeah I gave the show a second chance and watched the siege it just confirmed my original opinion it's a show for very young kids and there's nothing there for me.

Watching Vader take out those rebels just makes the rest of the empire look so utterly pathetic there's no way you can consider them a viable threat to anyone let alone an entire galaxy.
