STAR WARS: REBELS Discussion Thread!

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

The first thing I feel the need to point out is that everyone is digging up Legends, and Rebels isn't in Legends, it's in the new continuity. So Taung, the Sith race, the new continuity has yet to establish ancient history. Chances are the Republic now actually is 1,000 years old.

But, even ignoring that:

The Inquistor is not a Sith. He's specifically stated in the character previews not to be a Sith. He's a dark force adept in the service of Vader, but Vader and Palpatine are Sith of Bane's line (Bane persists into the new canon, albeit redesigned) and those Sith obey the Rule of Two.

It's like people who call themselves druids, they can call themselves that but they Arnt because the Romans wiped out druidic culture when they invaded and left no trace of their teachings, calling yourself something does not make you that thing.

WELL.

WHERE DO I BEGIN? Alright, alright, I know. Nowadays there's not a TON of new info about Rebels to speak of but Hoooooooooooooooly kenobi that finale! That was awesome. The entire season was awesome. The entirety of Rebels, was awesome. I am so stoked for Season 2.

And if you guys hadn't seen it at all, I'll leave you with this cool little image I snagged from their facebook page.

Where have we seen that ship before? Yeah it has elements of the CR-90, but it also looks familiar on its own...

BTW: I love SW: Rebels and this thread. It takes us back to the Space Opera of Olde.

In the immortal words of G'Kar, Rebels iss not a hopeless battle against an ageless and unstoppable evil. "They were the bad guys, we were the good guys... And they made a very satisfying thump when they hit the floor."

Unlike RL in the RW, the moral ambiguity is minimal. As such, it's good, escapist fun.

Its just an uncircumcised CR-90. Nothing to see here.

I'll admit that it is not a perfect word, but the meanings of all words evolve over time. Now I'm wondering how many other druids play X-wing; I doubt I'm the only one...

Back on topic:

I understand that Rebels season 2 is premiering at Celebration Anaheim. Does anyone know when the rest of us will get to see it?

Most likely the fall.

It is a modified version of this (some of the geometry was changed).

During Droids In Distress , what did you all think of the Star Tours shuttle and pilot droid?

Thanks!

Was it Rex?

Looks like the Rebel ship design paradigm has become decidedly... boxy.

The early rebellion couldn't afford the polygons for rounder shapes. They eventually had to get a polygon infusion from the Mon Cal so they could get some rounder ships.

Lol, someone needs to tell the artist about the different between "capital" and "capitol". XD

Well a lot of designs from the older era were pretty angular and boxy, especially Republic ships. I imagine that for a long time, that's exactly what The Rebellion used.

That's the Old Republic way of saying it :)

Y'know the funny thing is, that little pelta frigate is basically the rebel flagship (from what we can infer so far)

Which is a really neat thing.

Yes, yes it was.

Just caught the re-release of Spark of Rebellion, part 1. Was Darth Vader's a holo-call to the Inquisitor added? Pretty cool, really.

It was added when they aired it on ABC and has been part of the digital releases since they became available.

Thanks, Nathan: are you aware of anything else they added?

So... if I were to start watching Clone Wars with my son, should I start with Season 2? We started the show before on 1, but it was not interesting enough for him.

Let me tell you about this small Sci fi series called babylon 5. It was amazing, it had a slow start - season 1 was quite dull but with some very very strong episodes that really reinforce later.

Now, you can start at the awesome season4... but really, you need the first 3 seasons to really get it.

That's how I see most things, try to fight through seasons 1-2 to get to the good stuff.

Read Fellowship before getting to the two towers and Return of the kings (even though fellowship is a pain to read through).

Yea, Fellowship tested my reading skills, but it was worth it, I couldn't put down the book when I got to Two Towers (except for the Frodo scenes, idk why, but I was always more interested in the half about Aragorn and company).

As for TCW, in season 1, you aren't missing any major plots if yo uskip it since they didn't really start doing cohesive stories until season 3/4, but if you can put up with it, there are some good episodes in it (Malevolence arc, Rookies, the starter for the best continuing story in the show), and I definitely wouldn't skip season 2 as there are tons of good ones in it (Geonosis arc, Mandalorian arc maybe).

That's so 1990's. Yeah. Seen it. It's great. Want to watch Clone Wars. Thanks, though.

Watch them in chronological order -

How odd. Thanks. I'd not seen that before. Hmm....I still worry about Season 1, but we shall see. I might try this.
