Quick x-wing community poll regarding Imperial Assault and Armada:

By Bakura83, in X-Wing

Armada, always Armada (with some possible limited buys of IA for my EotE game).

Armada for sure. Just appeals to me both mini wise and scale of planning.

Armada

I have no interest in either.

X-Wing Forever!

I'm going to get both.

Armada-YES.

Imperial Assault-No.

That being said. If they came out with a truly ground vehicle based game with AT-ATs with little squads of troops I would be in.

Armada for sure. I love Capital Ships:)

Likely both. I don't think I'll invest fully in scum and villainy up front so it'll free up some funds.

Definitely won't be getting either, but it will be due to a lack of funds more than a lack of interest.

I know I may be the rare bird here but only X-Wing for me. Both the other games are wonderful looking and I will play them but not collect them.

I may have to skip both. I really don't have room for any more games. I may have to add a room on the house for the stuff I do have.

I have an interest in getting both but I am not commited. Star Wars LCG is my main game and X-Wing is my second game. We shall see what happens.

A few months ago I would have jumped for Armada, but now I'm down to considering. I very much doubt that I'll go for Imperial Assault.

I am undecided but prefer Armada over Assault.

Imperial Assault I'll play if anyone locally picks it up but I have no intention of owning.

Armada is very dependent on price points, playerbase, listbuilding(can I be a rebel fighterwing?), and how I feel about it after getting to play the game.

So far it's mostly Armada or neither, which isn't surprising.

I'm getting both, in addition to continuing to feed the X-wing addiction.

Armada will definitely be my second game, and might even become my first game as I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far. I love X-Wing, but Armada is becoming more and more appealing. That said, I'm 99% sure I will play both frequently (assuming there are people to play ofc).

I'm intrigued by Assault - not enough to fork out much money on it, but would definitely give it a go if anyone at my club gets it.

can I be a rebel fighterwing?

Its a capital ship game, so no :P As I understand it, once you lose all your capital ships you lose the match, even if you have fighters remaining.

Definitely Armarda

I may consider Imperial assault later on as I own Descent and most of the expansions released so far so we will see how different it is.

Also im pretty sure Armarda will eat alot of my coin

Staaaaaaaar Destrooooooyers!!!!!!!

Ahem. I mean I may consider Armada, obviously.

Im quite surprised at the amount of humans voting neither

I'm surprised at the number of troglodyte mole-people voting for Armada. I would have thought Space Naval Combat was too foreign a concept for them to enjoy simulating, whereas IA's Descent roots would be more familiar.

In all seriousness though from reading the comments it seems I'm in a very small minority, being someone who recently sold off his entire hobby (5 apocalypse sized 40k armies, four of which were fully painted) and therefore having plenty of both money and space to invest in a new hobby (buying into x-wing didn't even come close to using up the space/money the other left).

I can totally sympathize that most people simply don't have any room or budget left for yet another miniatures hobby. It's the same feeling I get when I see "kick starter for new miniatures skirmish game #37,650,812".

Hm. Did you sell them on ebay in the last week or two? With photos take on a big woods table or maybe a 4x8 piece of ply? IG was one, maybe Nids another? If so, I saw them:)

I have no interest in either.

As a few people have been using the term and i like it i will use it here - FFG are cannibalizing their own customer base in attempts to get other game lines out there. There is no way their entire customer base will buy ALL star wars related products and so it dilutes the spending of any one potential customer as they split their money between game lines or focus on one.

I understand that FFG have the star wars license and only for a fixed amount of time so are wanting to rush out as many games as possible as the hype around Ep7 builds, but seriously...

Yes, but it wasn't nids. IG, Minotaurs, Tau, Chaos Marines, Necrons. All much loved, all much played, and all much missed. I am happy to be free of GW though.
