Hey guys.

So I'm starting to think I may favour collecting Imperial Assault instead of Armada. I need to actually try a few games of Descent first to see roughly how it will play, but I think it's going to offer better value and more variety. All that said, an FFG quality Star Destroyer might break my will.

Any how, I'm curious to hear from all you x-wingers - feel free to post your thoughts on both games, but please begin your post with either:

Armada will definitely be my second game.
Imperial Assault will definitely be my second game.
I am committed to getting both.
I have no interest in either.
I'm undecided, but like the idea of X more than Y atm...

As for me, I'm undecided, but like the idea of IA more than Armada.

Armada will be my 2nd game to X-wing. No interest in Imp Assault at all really. Ground based games don't really interest me.

Armada might even over take X-wing, but to early to tell.

Armada Starter is pre-ordered; very excited about its more mechanistic nature (e.g. less imidiate decision making due to delayed actions)

Imperial Assault will be a pass for me; I never was that interested in the "ground stuff" in Star Wars and there are systems/universes out there which do an more interesting protrail of futuristic ground warfare IMO

X-wing and Imperial Assault are for me. No money or time for Armada.

They hit different niches for me. IA is more the board game/casual fun with maybe some competition in 2 player mode. Armada is a longer, more involved war strategy game. X-Wing is a quick, but strategic battle.

My wallet is less excited than my mind/heart are =). But that's okay as far as I am concerned.

X wing is the only non-digital game I play. Anything that added extra steps to play(painting, etc..)or extra money would drive me away.

Possible on armada, negative on imperial assault. I have a huge collection of star wars miniatures to fill that niche. Still a solid game when played with the first 4 sets or so.

Definitely Armada, maybe Imperial Assault as well but would have to see how it plays first. Sucks that I have literally zero artistic/painting skills to speak of. Hence my love for X-wing

I'll pick up the starter, though I'm slightly worried about finding people to play with since my local group doesn't look like they'll go for it. One is really excited for Imperial Assault, and I guess if it were on it's own I might go for it, ground stuff isn't as interesting for me either. There's already too much X-wing stuff to keep up with, tbh.

I'm hoping there'll be something ridiculous and fun whenever they make an Interdictor.

To be honest, not really sold on either.

Undecided. Both games look like a lot of fun. I'm not sure if either will become a favorite, but I would jump at the chance to play using a friend's copy of either game.

Right now I'm leaning toward Imperial Assault if I have to choose between the two.

Probably get Imp Assault as I like dungeon crawl games and look forward to painting the figs, I'm working at talking friends into getting Armada, I'll play it with them but I'm not really into fleet level, played too much X-wing, TIE fighter and Rogue Squadron in years past instead of the RTS games that came later.

I was all things Armada until the Scum & Villainy faction was announced. Consequently X-Wing is firmly back at the top of my agenda.

I'll probably end up buying them all.

I doubt that either will compete in my heart with X-wing, but I have been excited for Armada since before I knew FFG knew I wanted them to make it. The jurry is still out with Imperial Assault. With D&D Attack Wing, and Robotech coming out so soon, not to mention Dark Heresy and the new Jedi FFF RPG (I forgot it name) I am not sure my wallet will be able to stretch to include Imperial Assault.

Cutting down heavily on my X-wing purchases... no more having 8 of each small and 2-3 of each large. Going to get 2x Armada boxes, and depending on how my group likes IA, that I'll be collecting as well.

I like the idea of IA but the trouble with that (for me) is that it takes 3 players (and only two are actually playing) - so for the majority of my game time, that just wont work. Looks cool though, just not very practical in my case. Also, I'm seeing that there are expansions which I honestly didn't expect. I'll probably throw in my lot with X-Wing and possibly Armada.

It will be interesting to see the campaigns that some of the clever folks out there come up with that combine Armada, X-Wing, and IA into a huge, truly Epic undertaking.
