Has anyone tried BH/Onyx/Onyx?

By SDCC, in X-Wing

Don't know if it has been said, but I would probably build it like this:

Bounty Hunter — Firespray-3133

Rebel Captive 3

Engine Upgrade 4

Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30

Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30

Makes the BH more susceptible to early fire but can use EU to try and get away.

Rebel Captive is fantastic late game.

I tried Rebel Captive at other day and it didn't seem to add much to my game. Then again it wasn't a great night overall!

On 2 or 3 Defenders, pretending we don't care about being run through the sky by shifty Phantoms, which would you rather take:

Hull or Ion Cannon?

Ion Cannon

When I played a 3 Defender list, I went with 3 Delta's with Ion Cannon and it was really fun to be able to control the field. As soon as you see an opponent with a stress token, unless he's near dead, shoot him with your ion cannon and reposition for the kill. Your opponent will think twice before taking a stress token in front of you. Against B-Wing and their 1 agility, and Keyan now available, it is close to a guaranteed hit. Of course, you don't use it everytime, but if you happen to use it at least once and remove one possible shot next turn, you might have just paid for the hull upgrade by preventing a hit.

I won't be doing anything to the Defenders. They've got good attack, agility and the k-turn, so I think my attention and points need to go on the Firespray.

I took Ion Cannons to the last tournament and though it may have been me the chances didn't really present themselves and I barely used them. I see the chance to do damage and go for it. Short term I know when I could possibly line them up and ruin they're plans but it ties in with where I am at the moment.

Oh it wasn't a suggestion anyway, I was responding to the question of Blail: Ion or Hull.

For the Firespray, Recon Specialist is always nice. Gunner too if you think you might go against a Phantom or other high agility craft. Seismic charges can make your opponent think twice before choosing a maneuver that go behind you, but is tricky to use with a PS3 craft. Rebel Captive is very good, and a good counter for units that hate getting stress (Phantom, PtL Interceptors) but you don't seem to like it. Tactician can be used in both firing arc so it expend his usefulness.

I did BH with Deltas+Ions. You don't use the Ions every turn, but they can be really disruptive.

I've been running 2 Onyx and a Recon Specialist on my Bounty Hunter. It's a fun list to fly, hits like a truck and can take a puch, but is very susceptible to getting ganged up on and outmaneuvered.

Looking back on it, I'd probably drop down to Deltas to free up points on the Firespray. I love the idea of engine upgrade and captive for extra mobility or a gunner and seismic for more reliable damage and some area denial. What about the Slave I Title and a Flechette torp?
