Has anyone tried BH/Onyx/Onyx?

By SDCC, in X-Wing

For 97 points it looks pretty tough, and with the rear arc and k-turns won't often be caught out.

All on PS3 too so you could pick which order to choose. A wise choice for those like me who get a plan in their head, forget about order, and block themselves!

No idea what to spend the 3 points on but it's look interesting.

What do you guys think?

I'd personally rather have the Defenders at PS1 for the guaranteed K-Turn.

That leaves 7 points for a Gunner + something else, for the BH.

Interesting points.

PS1 would mean I always get to place those K's where I want them.

Gunner isn't something I'd thought to use at all. Not sure I'd even read the card before! Duff attack? Go again!

But what does Gunner come with? I haven't got my deck here to check.

Bounty hunter with recon specialist plus two defenders works very well together used that list several times to kick butt.

So you get two focus tokens? Can they both be used in the same turn. One for attack and one for defence?

Yep it makes the firespray quite tanky without harming its offense.

yep that is right, it's a good list, seen it used a few times, no had a go myself yet

It comes with the Firespray-31.

That is very interesting. Would leave me 4 points. I'd just need to be very nice to my Brother who has the card!

What would you spend the 4 points on?

Seismic charges on the firespray are always fun...

I've not used any bombs before. I guess you just for the right moment.

Could just throw on another shield?

I still think recon crew is the best option myself.

At the moment it looks like Delta/Delta/BH + Recon = 96 points.

I'd go with onyx for one reason predator, you take PS1 defenders they'll 're roll two dice you take the PS3 they get one.

I'm not sure I'd want to use the points covering one thing so specifically. Not sure if anyone else will use it.

First movement vs higher PS. The PS isn't high enough to change shooting that much is it? I wonder what the chance of Predator effecting me are vs the benefit of having another shield on the BH?

I'm open to all options just trying to balance the chances.

Engine upgrade on the bounty hunter. Being able to boost to reposition your arcs is really powerful. I know it clashes a bit with recon spec as you're not focusing if you're boosting, but it gives you options, and options are always good.

Was gonna suggest engine myself but it comes with the falcon.

If you have one you could take a stress torp (fleechete) and a seismic bomb

Or the shield upgrade

You don't have many options to spend the last 4 points on sadly

Cool wee squad thou

I love my defenders, its always nice to see em on the table

I adore the Defenders. Spot on ship for me and how I like to play. Love the model itself too.

Will give opponents something to think about!

Leaning towards the shield at the moment.

I actually like this list as it gives you the best of both worlds and as you can use the Defenders to block and pull K's at will and have a very high PS pilot with nice maneuvers for those naughty Phantoms.

That would interest if I had the skill or experience to actually block people well! Maybe in the future.

I second the vote for engine upgrade. Doing a boost on a large ship is a thing of beauty, especially when they have rear arcs.

But then I wouldn't be able to focus twice!

I see what you're getting at. That little nudge could get me in just the right place.

But two focus's/foci/focuses!

Two different schools of thought.

The EU will help you get out of arcs so the enemy squad can't shoot at you anyway, or at least limits the amount of guns he can point at you. But you lose some offensive potential. You'll be throwing more unmodified attacks.

Recon specialist will make you more offensive and give you a nice boost on defense. However, it will make it harder to dodge anything with that big base. I tend to prefer Rec Spec, as I think the Firespray dial and rear arc make it mobile enough. Also, at PS 3, you'll be moving before a lot of pilots anyway. Its hard to dodge arcs when you don't know where they will end up pointing. EU is probably better on a higher PS Firespray which you can combo with PTL.

I think EU is better if you are going to be going up against rebel builds that don't include a Falcon. They will be easier to arc dodge than Ties. But I think Rec. Spec. is just a lot more useful.
