I don't see the point in Onyx. PS1's actually better for the Defender because it's much harder to block its K.
I'd save yourself four points to upgrade the Firespray with and take Deltas.

If you don't know the rule of 11, have a look at this.
If you move forward 4 and then boost, you move 9 ship bases, meaning you'll get shots off turn 1 on a straight up joust.
Like I said, options. You don't have to choose between Recon Spec and Engine Upgrade, you can take both and use whatever one will give you the most benefit.
That is very cool. I just need to remember it now!
Would be even better if I had HLC and could get a shot of that in early.

Depends if Predator is a common upgrade in your local meta. If not PS 1 is fine and you can save the two points. Otherwise at PS 1 your opponent is getting essentially a TL every time he shoots at you.

And who doesn't know how good predator is these days? It is something to consider when list building.
I'd personally rather have the Defenders at PS1 for the guaranteed K-Turn.
That leaves 7 points for a Gunner + something else, for the BH.
Gunner+Tactician?
I might actually try that team.
Predator is a primary reason why I prefer 3 x BH over the PS1 Defenders and the PS3 Defender is outclassed by the BH for 1 pt more.
Tactician is really good on firesprays. Two arcs.
Indeed - given that you can use it out of the rear arc its chances to trigger increase greatly, and as Lagomorphia said, Gunner + Tactician = fun times.
Not on a Firespray they don't sadly as you only have one crew slot :-(
Oh too true, the combo was meant for a Shuttle.

just my idea for BH and 2 defenders
how about
Bounty Hunter — Firespray-31 33
Tactical Jammer 1
Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30
Ion Cannon 3
Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30
Ion Cannon 3
mind you Tac Jammer comes in wave 5 so unlikely to have it
If you're going with deltas I'd say hull and sheild upgrade or gunner and seismic charge.
You could also put Isard + hull on the BH or Mara + flechette when they come round. MJ is probably the best since you can Kturn right behind them but Isard + hull is going to be a monster to take down.
Edited by Rakky WistolGreat topic! I just got my Firespray all painted up, and I was trying to decide what to run alongside my Bounty Hunter. Lots of good ideas here! I'm digging the Onyx Sq. Pilots. Call me crazy (because I am), but Proximity Mines sound like an interesting choice for 3 points. But I think Recon Specialist is a tried and true upgrade for the Bounty Hunter.
Okay, discussion time:
On 2 or 3 Defenders, pretending we don't care about being run through the sky by shifty Phantoms, which would you rather take:
Hull or Ion Cannon?
I've played a few games vs a guy who always ran 3 Defenders. Honestly, they were just good ships and I felt like they would have just benefitted from another hull point. The Ion Cannons were basically just helping the R3 shot be slightly better, but rarely saw much use as you'd rather usually just paint the target red.

Ion every time. any one who thinks hull would be a better choice remember what Yoda said.

I took ion into the last tournament and didn't use it once. I'd rather have something to buff my main attack or help me out. I forget too easily when I'm thinking about movement ![]()

It's not worth four points (more than Predator) and comes with its own setback of making the K-turn more blockable. Besides, Predator gets a reroll anyway. I'm not as scared of the double reroll as some others are.
Plus you have to look at Onyx's "art." Ew.
Some differing opinions here!
It's 99% on I'll be using 2 Defenders and a Firespray.
If I go Delta's I can get the k-turn out and have more points on BH.
If I go Onyx they avoid the double re-roll of Predator and I get one upgrade on the BH.
I didn't see Predator in my first tournament, and I'm going to same place tomorrow. Maybe people will have taken it on board but should I take the points off the BH to avoid one outcome that may or not happen? I know it's about mitigation but I'm leaning more towards being able to put more on the BH.
Deltas definitely. Avoiding the second re-roll on a card you might not even be facing is in no way worth 4 points. The freedom of movement of PS1 is a nice boost in its own right.

Ion Cannon
When I played a 3 Defender list, I went with 3 Delta's with Ion Cannon and it was really fun to be able to control the field. As soon as you see an opponent with a stress token, unless he's near dead, shoot him with your ion cannon and reposition for the kill. Your opponent will think twice before taking a stress token in front of you. Against B-Wing and their 1 agility, and Keyan now available, it is close to a guaranteed hit. Of course, you don't use it everytime, but if you happen to use it at least once and remove one possible shot next turn, you might have just paid for the hull upgrade by preventing a hit.
