I have so far only faced the decimator in combat and the only pilot I have seen is Oicunn. I got the opportunity to play the build I have imagined would be a great build, Commander Kenkirk, Isard and experimental interface+expose. I wanted to get behind my opponent and hopefully lob in shots as I circled around the edges. My opponent is a regular of mine and I usually slow play at the start but this time I rushed forward to get behind. I took 6 or so damage on the alpha strike but the Decimator has the chops to take it. My plan worked perfectly as my opponent went for eaiser kills allowing the decimator to cruise around usually only facing one shot a turn. With Isard and Kenkirk I was able to absorb tons of damage. Expose really is a nasty card in the hands of a decimator, 1-3 range 4-5 dice attacks should not be ignored as my opponent found out. I understand why they gave this thing 0 agility because with even one evade dice this thing takes an eternity to kill while your opponent would have to ignore the rest of your force completely. Once Kenkirk and Isard kick in you still have quite a bit of health left for them to pay off. From now on I think my strategy will be kill the decimator first. Even if it takes all your ships two turns you can't have this beast left for last. I am totally in complete love of the empire, Decimator and Defender are the bane of the Rebel scum!!!
The Decimator IS the beast that people feared it would be!
So, Expose + Kenkirk means he has no pilot ability. Wouldn't you want to take the Admiral instead?

And Isard wouldn't kick in either, unless he's not regularly using expose.

Isard would trigger just fine.
Yes, Isard gives a free evade action if i'm not mistaken.
Not if he's stressed from EI.
Easy enough to stick wingman on an escort fighter.
I had Yorr for stress.

I hadn't thought of that, I went with Yorr but it wasn't needed now I see.

It's true that she could trigger just fine if using the order Engine25 suggested (and I'm not sure why I missed that). However, based on the fact that the OP mentioned using Experimental Interface to trigger it I was assuming he had stress (Yorr wasn't mentioned until later) at the time Isard would trigger, which wouldn't work because she does require an action, albeit a free one, to complete.
Edited by AlexWI'm glad people are already enjoying the Decimator. Seeing spoiled images of it was what ultimately caused me to hop on board the X Wing bandwagon and solidified my choice to play Imperials.
There are a lot of potential fun builds. I'm planning on buying a pair of VT-49s so I can run my 2 Live Crew list.
I am already playing 8 Tie swarms in preparation to Wave 5. I am going to have so much fun.
Commander Kenkirk + Expose + Experimental Interface + Ysanne Isard (55)
Captain Yorr (24)
I'm not sold on this build as a beast or so etching to be feared. You have 21 points left to fill the rest of the squad, what eles was in it? Your paying a cost in points to have Kenkirks ability only to take it away with Expose. You then have to keep that Decimator you just flew past your opponent in range of a Yorr that is dead if it follows the Decimator. A shuttle never wants it's back to the opponent. If you don't succeed in keeping Yorr there to protect the Beast you are taking both defensive advantages of Kenkirks & Ysanne and wasting them when you use Expose.
I had a game last night playing these Two squads against each other:
Commander Kenkirk + Determination + Ysanne Isard + Rebel Captive (52)
Omicron Group Pilot + Fire-Control System + Tactician (25)
Omicron Group Pilot + Fire-Control System (23)
Vs
Dash Rendar + Veteran Instincts + Heavy Laser Cannon + Outrider (49)
Chewbacca + C-3PO + Gunner + Millennium Falcon (51)
Dash spent most of the game having to fly green due to the Stress economy the Imperial build was handing out. The Decimator lived an unusually long time due to the Kenkirk and Ysanne combo. The rebels were still able to pull the win out as once the game got down to Dash and Omicron, Dash's ultra maneuverability was too much for the Lambda Shuttle.
Osoroshii,
I really like that build. It's like a slow, creeping death.
ARGHHHH I WANT A DECIMATOR!!!!!
I hadn't thought about yorr but yeah he also works as a stress soak.
The order you stack the actions of Expose + Experimental Interface + Ysanne Isard could make a diffrence.

Relooking at it, Experimental Interface only has the trigger of Once per round, after you perform an Action. Ysanne says at the start of combat .......you may perform a free evade action. So it could mean in the normal action phase you could focus, wait until the free action from Ysanne to trigger Experimental Interface to use expose. This gets you a 3 action economy, but you are still wasting Kenkirks ability. You'll have to deal with the dial of the Decimator to clear stress

So instead of wasting Kenkirk for these tricks let's go with
Rear Admiral Chiraneau + Expose + Ysanne Isard + Experimental Interface (57)
The Admiral can change a focus to crit and leave you to use the normal action as target lock for a kinda four Action economy.
Edited by Osoroshii^^^^^^^^^^
That seems to be a pretty decent build for Chiraneau.
the best part is even if you block the beast it still gets to use the expose function as the free action from Ysanne.
Expose on the Deci with Kirk and Ysanne is a situational thing after you have at least 1 DMG card.
I have 4 shields to begin with, so i can use Expose all the time if i want to, i will not get any advantage out of Kirk or Ysanne...
It makes sense to have the expose on a 0 agility ship...
There is no downside... just the 1 extra red die.
As said, after you have the first DMG card, it gets interesting to see what your enemy is doing where he is going b4 you choose, or not, to trigger Expose.
Of course you need a Wingman or a Yorr in your squad to get the stress off else there is no way you can trigger Ysanne and expose in the same round. Well would be possible every second round but that makes you very predictable.
But, whatever you do.. you are correct.. that thing is fun!!!
Is Isard nearly an auto-include on the Decimator? At the bare minimum you are preventing at least 1 damage which is a shield upgrade. Thats if your opponent can take out the Decimator in the second turn. So more than likely its going to trigger at least twice.

That would be an interesting question...
The card reads after performing an action...
Does perform a free action counts as an action?
If so.. yes you are correct you dont need any wingman or yorr but that would still make you very predictable in your flight path!
.Of course you need a Wingman or a Yorr in your squad to get the stress off else there is no way you can trigger Ysanne and expose in the same round.
the order of Actions I mentioned above Movement: Action Focus, begin combat Ysanne tiggers with free evade Action, that Action triggers Experimental Interface that then allows Exopse. you will always have to fly green to reset for every round but there is no need for Yorr or Wingman.

Yes, Isard gives a free evade action if i'm not mistaken.
You just have to take care with your action order, just like Turr Phennir. You focus as your primary action. At the start of the combat phase, Ysanne triggers, providing a free evade action, and then is when you trigger Expose with EI. Three actions a turn, when performed in the right order. Not if he's stressed from EI.
Derp, brain fart, I glossed over E.I triggering Expose. Thank you for bailing me out Engine25. ![]()

Kenkirk taking zero damage against Dash's HLC for 2 turns in a row was pretty boss. We may have to do a vassal rematch, with less shuttles in my squad against that build. ![]()
