Same here. I'm a much bigger Star Trek fan than I am Wars.
I did go out of the way to fix it... so my version of STAW ain't to **** bad. I still have a lot of work to do, but it is all fun.
I'm sure the original attack wing was fun but all I hear now is Borg have ruined it, most powerful with 360 shooting and movement and not properly costed.
Wizkidz are doing what gw do rushing stuff out without play testing, and only getting certain ships at cons is disgusting, ffg May have sold new stuff at gen con but you know everyone will get it sooner or later.
Scale and poor paint job put me off attack wing even though I grew up on star trek(yes even voyages) but the lack of balance ensures I'll never pick it up.
WORST idea EVER for this game. Go play hero clix if you want that crap.

Yet another player here who is happy to have quit the blind purchase model and probably wouldn't be playing this game if it was. Selling years worth of Magic I had wasted money on helped form a complete Heroscape collection, and I now use that Heroscape to win local tournaments, which means store credit, which means a lot of X-Wing for cheap! 
Why do I need blind purchase again?

As of now that goes completely against the business model for X-Wing miniatures. With each pack every card and upgrade card is usable on the model it comes with. Also while there are allot of players in X-Wing the vast majority of them has not bought one of each model. So having a new Y-wing pilot card from a random booster pack will do you no good if you haven't picked up the Y-wing.
If you wan't more pilots and customization for your current models instead of just the standard 2 name and 2 generics have no fear. If you look at packs such as aces and even the most wanted pack that is exactly what they do, make new pilots for the same ship that is already out. Also I am not worried if they run out of new ships because I think in the long term there is a plan to reprint the current sets say have the same named pilot but with different pilot abilities in the reprint. So just have patience.

Because in your system people either have to buy random packs or else buy individual cards. Something most of us, myself included is against as the standard way of getting things.
My system would allow you to buy random boosters with the hope of maybe scoring a cheap rare upgrade, or would allow a more robust single card market then we currently have. Yet still let people just buy the models and cards like they currently do, so they could avoid the whole thing all together if they wanted to.

I think the alt paint scheme is a good idea but random cards heeeeecccckkkkk nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually took the time to type that many exclamations for a reason. IF they were to add cards they should be the same ones you get with the normal expansion except maybe offer the plastic version instead of the paper one you normally get. By plastic one I mean made from the same stuff as the ones you get at events might be more expensive tho to produce. Alternatively they could maybe make the cards a different color or different art on the back of the cards.

If there's one thing I think Wings of War/Glory did right it was multiple paint schemes for each model. It's nowhere near as intensive as new molds, and you can see which paintjob you're getting upfront, which is about my limit for booster randomness.

Takeda, bro, listen. I have seen this way too often. A friend of mine that I see at game conventions a few times a year is a perennial loser at the "unofficial" poker game we have there every night. I always give him 20 bucks to buy back in because he really fun to play poker with and seriously, I win tons of Hold 'em Hands with him in still in the game.
But he has another problem. He's really hooked on TCGs and after he's done at the poker table he off to the MtG tables and the other bush league grabass card games and chucks the rest of his cash down the pooper. The upshot here is there are legit hustles and then there's that TCG lot....
