Third Faction Details

Y-WING ACES! YEEE HAAH!

Doesn't say anywhere that it is a third faction though. But if it is, dual faction ships are now a thing. An awesome, awesome Y-wing aces thing.

FFG, colour me impressed. Didn't think it was doable.

It does, actually... The packaging reads "Scum & Villainy", the fire arcs are yellow, and they said "third faction" in the room.

I'm wondering about the pilot cards for the Firespray and the HWK. Will they be exactly the same just "re-branded" for the S&V faction or will they alter the cost or ablilities? I can't imagine they would alter the stats of the ships but who knows.

Personally, I hope they stay exactly the same with the possible exception of giving Fett a new ability.

I expect new abilities for lots of cross over pilots!

I could also see a "Slave Transport" Firespray with some more shielding, 2 crew slots, and only 2 dice...be like the outer rim smuggler or something.

Depending on where they take 3rd faction design space they may have to recost ships to keep them from being too comboriffic. I'm ok with that.

Yeah, I am kind of expecting new ones as well. It wouldn't bother me at all.

I was just thinking it would be cool to have the same pilots fighting for a new team. Either way, it will be neat.

I think the important thing here is 'conversions' (believed to be new cards and cardboard) for existing models.

With Most Wanted and its Y-wing and two Headhunter models with accompanying cards and cardboard PLUS new content for the HWK and Firespray, it's not hard to imagine something like Empire's Finest with say, a repainted TIE Defender and TIE Fighter PLUS cards and cardboard for say, the Advanced and Shuttle.

The point is, we have all the ships we really need (for the most part, when it comes to the Alliance and Empire), it's new pilots that will shake up the game and breath in new life.

Expect Skipray blastboats.

On a thematic note, I suppose you could put the astromech version of R2D2 on the S&V Y-wing. It doesn't say rebel only on it. I wonder if that will get changed.

The day they announce Skipray Blastboats, I'm throwing a party.

Good catch.

It seems reasonable to assume that pilot cards are faction exclusive.

Hopefully the most wanted pack doesn't include only S&V faction pilots.

So, had a thought. In Wave 1, each faction had 1 PS9 pilot. In wave 2, that increased to 2 each, and hasn't changed. Will Scum and Villainy receive a PS9 pilot (I think it will). So, who will it be?

Xizor? IG-88? A mandalorian?

Xizor was supposed to be a good pilot. Boba will still be around too.

We'll probably see some new/newer versions of upgrade cards with the added "Scum & Villainy Only" text. To make certain things more faction-specific. Most definitely, like others have suggested, alternate pilot cards (with the S&V logo on the back) with different abilities.

Good catch.

Easily fixed by restricting S&V faction Y-wings to S&V faction astromechs.

I don't think we'll see new Imps and Rebs until after the Rebels TV show premieres.

I hope to see a new 3rd faction core set.

it would be a nice way to get new ships and more templates/damage decks.

I'd rather they just FAQ R2D2 than do that. That way there are not factional droids.

If they don't change it, I'm going to assume Artoo got stolen. :)

So for you guys who know the EU ships that are coming out....

From a fluff standpoint, would these ships ever actually be on the same team, and would they ever have any beef with the Rebs/Imperials?

I'm betting the S&V Y-Wings will not have an astromech slot at all, and they will get a crew slot or bomb slot in place of it.

Sometimes, yes they would be on the same team; Fett working for Vader, Han for the Rebels, Karrde for the New Republic, etc. Most of the time these guys would stay out of it and try to profit any way they could.

However, if the Rebels, for example, would try to hone in on a crime syndicates territory, the pirates would most definitely fight them.

Would make sense..

The original film y wings were supposed to be two seater iirc but they could not make it work with the filming tech at the time.

Or something like that...

same reason the TIE fighters are white in ANH, early blue screen meant they dissapeated in 'TIE blue', i think they had similar issues with B wings

But background wise i think early y wings also hadmore shielding and smoother hulls... the rebel ones in ANH are stripped down...hence the streamlined armoured cockpit and the really crude looking engines and hull. They *might* do a Y like that but its unlikely its a whole new mould for little game value

Most of the crew are either:

-Rebel Only named characters

-Some Merc type thing (Mercenary Co-pilot, Reconnaissance Specalist, Weapons Engineer)

-Or a Imperial officer (Navigator, Tactician, Flight Instructor)

So I guess it would make sense to see those crew be put to good use on a y-wing

As i've said a few times on here Kath Scarlet being 'imperial' actually doesnt work anyway.. in one of her two main stories in the EU she raids imperial shipping and tries to capture a lambda.

Much more fitted to a neutral faction

Are those black sun logos on the Z95?
