VT-49 Decimator spoilers! Oicunn! "Dauntless"! "Skyfall"!

By Introverdant, in X-Wing

I feel the need to add a "We Brake For Nobody" sign to the back of the Dauntless....

It's far from broken. Hell, it's essentially a worse version of the 'instant death' ramming attack of a rebel transport - the difference being that the VT-49 can pull actual manouvres (hopefully) and can actually turn corners and line up on someone.

Captain Oicunn in the Dauntless, especially (as suggested) with Anti-pursuit lasers is a nice thematic answer to a swarm - drive an assault ship through the middle like a bowling ball.....

Haha.. I can make a decal in Aurebesh for that... lol

I can make lots of them.. lol

Bumper stickers anyone.. lol

top line, done with first letter of each word capitalized, and second line all caps..

Now for a little decal of Mega Maid's head.

Not sure the decimator is going to like swarms. With 0 green dice, it's even more vulnerable than the Falcon to Tie fighter attacks for the same cost.

Range 3 it lasts 13.9 focused attacks vs 15.3

Range 2 it lasts 10.7 focused attacks vs 11.3

Range 1 it lasts 7.11 focused attacks vs 6.9

It also lacks the usual C3P0+ MF title.

Can't wait to play it though!

that. of course. assumes maths works and does what the numbers say... as many lament.. sometimes the dice don't understand math.. and roll all blanks...

And we don't know what wonderful toys the Decimator will bring us. What will Isard do? Or Jerrod I think it was?

Or crits. The dice gods work both ways.

I'm still curious how the Decimator's evade token generator is going to work. And how often in a turn it can be used. This could make or break the Decimator's defensive capabilities.

I hope Isard lets us do nasty things to ships with stress. We have way too many cards that interact with stressed ships.

Dies this trigger pursuit lasers?

Oicunn + Dauntless + Proton Bomb + Anti-Pursuit Lasers + (what ever fits your game)

Ram people turn A, drop the bomb in turn B and then move away

Low PS pilots will have to try to go over the Decimator (running into the bomb) or have to bumb it (triggering APL); High PS pilots will have chosen a maneuver which will take them were the Decimator was and right into the Bomb

Dies this trigger pursuit lasers?

APL is triggered when a ship runs into you, not when you run into a ship

Am I the only one who finds this ability and card a bit disappointing?

It sounds good in principal but in reality will probably be a bit naff. I was hoping for more stuff around either messing with other ships abilities or defensive posture for the Decimator.

As is, ramming will cost you an action. If you want your action back it's 2 points and a stress token. Doesn't strike me as value really.

I can't wait to get this behind the CR90.

I get some sleep and look what I miss, I think despite the lack of dodge this will be an interesting ship and we may finally have a reason to use expose.

Not necessarily, it is not so much intended as an Imperial shouting "RAMMING SPEED" I think, but punishing lower PS enemies should they dare to try and impede your progress.

Low PS get to move before it does. Higher PS are sitting targets.

Yeah, and the lower PS can get in your way to block you. As I said, I think it is not so much intended as a ramming technique but punishing them.

Looks pretty rammy to me.

Does anyone else have the Imperial March running through their heads when they look at this beauty?

Well, I do now.

Heh heh heh, You are mine to toy with!

Interesting Side Note:

Many ships/pilots in the game thus far only exist in the Expanded Universe, most exist in the original films AND the Expanded Universe, and some exist in both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy.

According to some Wookieepedia reading on Captain Oicunn, he is the first character whose first and only canon appearance was in the prequel trilogy. He is in Revenge of the Sith for about 13 seconds, and there is a short story about him, but that's it. Interesting.

Naboo starfighters for wave 6, you heard it here first, folks!

I would LOVE it if some of the prequel ships came to the game. I have a similar opinion of the prequels as most people, but there are some legitimately cool ships.

This guy has me written all over him. He says touching. That means if you put expert handling on him you can barrel roll right onto enemy ships and do damage as long as it doesn't overlap. Does the article mention the cost of Oicunn? It's going to be expensive, but this has my style written all over it.

Barrel Roll is not a maneuver.

Oh yeah. Too bad.

Also, you can't barrel roll or boost if it overlaps anyway

Sure you can. You get one free Action and a Stress. The Boost wouldn't be the easiest; you'd have to sideswipe them just barely to get away with a Bank Boost. APL might be something to think about. Mara Jade might as well hang drapes, too.

You can't barrel roll or boost if it would cause you to overlap with another ship. If a revealed maneuver causes you to overlap with a ship, then the free action would allow you to barrel roll or boost off the ship though.

It has a natural Turret, too. Don't forget that this is one pilot and one upgrade card. There's plenty of potential in this ship.

This Rebel player is intimidated.
