X-Wing Online

No no, I wasn't being jerky... I develop games a bit, with a friend who is a pretty high level coder, and he and I were kicking around the idea of skipping vassal and just making a straight up simple version of xwing for free online. Right now we are in the midst of a old school dungeon crawl, but at some point we might give it a look.

I'm not watching a full two hours of those guys rate vassal. I'm not saying they are or aren't smart, but they need to get a handle on their audio before they go and make a youtube video for the xwing gaming community. Three audio issues in the first two minutes then I randomly skip to a mid-game point and their audio goes out again on them....why would you post an unpolished "review" like that on youtube and expect to be taken seriously? To me it's no surprise they seem to have trouble with vassal.

Vassal has all the tools you need to play a nice progressive game. I'm not exactly proficient myself but I used to play 40k on there a lot. It's a little clunky but once you get used to the hotkeys the game moves right along.

Right now there are seperate spots for your squad cards off-map, hotkeys for every action, dice modifying controls....everything. It's simply a matter of getting used to the interface. It's tough at first but once you get used to it...it's great.

Get your audio straightened out before you try to figure out vassal.

Yeah there is book smart and then there is tech smart.

You are right.

I am not in either of these camps... but rank highly in the third far to rare these days; old school common sense camp.

I would love it Fantasy Flight did a Computer version of X-Wing ala MTG, sadly the licenses for board games and video games are VERY DIFFERENT when you're talking about Star Wars.
