Oh amen to that.
Doubling Rexler's Fun…?
Why do I feel like Jendon will be great with Fleet Officer? I mean OGP will too, but I just like the idea of Jendon handing out both target locks and focus tokens.
Target locks are only at Range 1 though.
What I'm looking forward to with Fleet Officer is flying a BSP with Wingman next to that ship. Fleet Officer every turn!
Lambda with Adv Sensor and green maneuvers could do that too.
If Rexlar attacks someone and gets a direct hit critical, the target takes 2 hull damage, the card is flipped face down, he spends focus and the card is flipped face up for 2 more damage? Then normal hits are applied?
Direct hit critical card does not instruct to flip it face down. It just counts as two damage for the remainder of the game unless some abilities allow flipping criticals face down again. But no, Rexler cannot affect a direct hit card twice. The ruckus was about minor explosion which specifically instructs to flip the card face down after resolving the card.
Thanks for the info, I don't have my stuff here and I forgot about exactly how the direct hit works. I thought that was kind of crazy if it worked like that...
I'm glad this thread finally re-railed.
I was really excited at the ability to dish out crits to Chewie and to turn Minor Explosions into potential direct hits. For anyone not Chewie, that'd be about 30% of the damage deck being a direct hit! If you are hitting Han with and HLC and Outmaneuver and you have a TL, about 3 hits will get through, which will on average be worth 3-4 damage (1/3 of those cards will be either a Direct Hit or a Minor Explosion).
I don't know if that would work so well against the Phantom though...
The funniest part is that people are getting all bent out of shape because they think I actually reported them. Hint: I don't really declare when I'm reporting something. If I say "reported," it's a pretty good bet that you're not.I can't believe my little pony sparked that.
Wow
*reads thread*
So, Rexler Brath...
I don't know any pony called that way. Try again ?
Done
Well evidently I need to brush up on my html codes. But I'm to tired to tonight.
Edited by BittersweetCocoaAnyway, I really do still want to know if anyone had ever accomplished the double flip crit thing before.

Well, that's good. I for one will accept it, and hope we can put this exchange past us. As for the topic at hand, I've little left to really offer as I've never even seen a Defender miniature in person since I'm about 20 miles plus away from my local shop.
"local".
As for that ability, hell if I know. I bet it'd be sick as hell to pull it off though.
I have to chuckle a little, my "local" stores are 50 miles in either direction.... ![]()
Oh you poor, poor soul… ![]()
Yeah, I've suddenly been getting lots of use out of Rexler's ability. Before he came out, I thought Outmaneuver would be the way to go but so far Predator has been so amazingly awesome on him that I'm having trouble wanting to try anything else. Maybe once I'm through mopping the floor with everyone then I'll start to get crazy with it.
Luckily I have no kids and can make it once a week unless I have a reason to go there more outside of playing with toys...
Man, I came here wanting to share my story about how I double stressed someone with Rexler after dealing a Thrust Control Fire and then popping my focus.
And then I saw all this.
Oops.
Well, hey, share the story.
Yeah, that was pretty much it.
I ran my typical "One day I'm going to win a Regionals with this" list of Rexler with HLC and two TIE Advanceds with Stealth Device and Concussion Missiles. Faced off against a Falcon and two B-Wings. Sadly, I flipped the stress crit on a B-Wing with 1 Hull left, and it died later in the round... but, hey, it happened!
As long as you're running a pair of TIE Advanced, Vessery would be quite a lot more consistent than Rex.
You could even swap the Concussion Missiles for Clusters Missiles and give 'em to Ves for mad deeps, and you'd have a couple more points to play around with - Veteran Instincts for Ves?
Actually.... check this out:
Vessery
Cluster Missiles
HLC
Veteran Instincts
Storm Squadron x2
Proton Rockets
99 points, lean and mean.
Alternatively, remove the Cluster Missiles & VI and put the Stealth Devices back on the Storms.
You could run this today if you take Ion Pulse Missiles. Not as pfftttshhhBOOM as Proton Rockets, but better against Falcons.
You're totally right about Vessery. I have much better results with him. But Rexler wins in the style department.
This is the other list I usually rotate between:
Tempest Squadron Pilot (21)
Homing Missiles (5)
Stealth Device (3)
Tempest Squadron Pilot (21)
Homing Missiles (5)
Stealth Device (3)
Colonel Vessery (35)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Total: 100

The Homing Missiles mean that the whole squad has excellent action economy for the first round of combat, which is sometimes the most important round. Then the Tempest pilots fly around with their annoying 4 Agility screening and blocking for the Defender who either hangs back and potshots with free TL HLC blasts or shoots past the blocked enemies with his white K-Turn.
I would really like to throw Outmaneuver or something on Vessery, but the list is at 100 points already. Switching to Proton Rockets when they come out would give me the points, but then you kind of lose out on the whole Target Lock synergy. Although, rotating between Tempest pilots during the first two rounds of combat to switch between Proton Rocketing with Focus and helping Vessery with Target Locks could be a decent solution. Although I feel like it would paint too easy a target for whom my opponent would want to concentrate fire.
What I'm really hoping for is that one of the new EPTs (Loner / Lone Wolf or Ruthless, whatever their names actually end up being) in Wave 5 gives a boost to elite Defenders that act as a kind of flagship in these squads.

We are brothers now, and you have no choice but to accept this.
to answer the if anyone has ever had the double crit thing go off on minor explosion the answer is yes i did!
on a no shields full hull Y wing I rolled 2 damage and 1 crit (range 1 shot) the crit was a minor explosion but he rolled a blank then i flipped them over and one was a direct hit and this time the minor explosion went off and killed the Y.
I will also say i have played somewhere around 15 games with defenders since i got one and i love them and now own 3 of them. i don't think the stressed turns are that big of a deal (i use to fly essentialy just bombers) when you can K turn while stressed. Vessery gets to take advantage of that more then others as his pilot ability doesn't require an actions and is basically like having a target lock on them already (granted it with a focus is still better but o well)
