Doubling Rexler's Fun…?

By That One Guy, in X-Wing

So while reading through the new FAQ I found an entry for Rexler. In short, it states that any regular critical hits inflicted by the attack (not part of his Focus ability) are resolved first. So, FFG iterates, any critical hit you get first that is resolved and then flipped down can be flipped up and resolved again if and when he uses his focus token to do so.

Now, I'm fairly sure I'd have resolved that correctly had it come up before reading this but my question is… has anyone ever been that lucky? Word around here is that though useful and cool, Rexler's ability isn't exactly winning awards for frequency or consistency. Has anyone ever managed to pull this miracle off before now?

God I hope so.

No, not really. Though the reactions are humorous.

It never ceases to amaze me how poorly people take mention of pastel horses.

Oh come on, I thought it was funny. :D

Maybe the fact that we're not 9 year old girls has something to do with it.

Hey, I'm 26 and an engineering major. What does age have to do with it?

Maybe the fact that we're not 9 year old girls has something to do with it.

Ohoho, cute. See, you're the first one to throw an insult here.

We're grown ass men playing with miniatures and acting serious about it.

We have in depth discussions about a, "meta". About rules and we even get into SJW arguments about Echo's gender/sex.

But the moment a pastel equine is posted, suddenly that's too much.

When we're all grown ass men playing with toys.

Dude. Come on. Reality check.

I threw an insult?

I threw an insult?

You basically called me a nine year old girl, entirely because I posted a, if you understand the reference, relevant image. An image intended to garner a chuckle from some and nothing more. Just because it wasn't something you liked.

And you were so busy orking about it that you reported it. You reported it!

Come on dude. Learn to laugh.

Well funnily enough the people who made the show popular were not little girls either, if your gonna hate on someone it should be for something more substantial like their being a scientologist or something.

No need to get rude about it, but seriously, he's right. Star Wars was, and always has been, a children's movie. But it was a very well-made children's movie with a deep story and interesting characters. And nobody really sees a problem with 40-year-old men liking it.

MLP isn't the same level of quality, but it's not far off. Its universe is deep and detailed, with characters that are interesting and deep, and its writing is at least on par with something like Star Trek. I personally think it's a great little diversion.

Bronies are seen as trolls, but you can't blame people for being passionate about something that's well done. Plus, as he said, the reference was entirely relevant.

It's rare we agree, but today we do, Hobo.

Let's not forget.

Star Wars' most dramatic scene...

Has an evil old man cackling in his all but rocking chair, in a giant death ball in space, while two space wizards duke it out with basically-laser-swords.

Yeah, Star Wars can be some serious s**t but... Let's be real here.

It can be pretty **** silly when you look at it objectively.

I said that I'm not a 9 year old girl, and assumed most others here aren't as well. That would be why I used the collective term "we," which is about as far from calling you anything as it gets. If you feel insulted because I implied that a show for little girls is (or should be) watched by little girls, feel free to report me. I'm not about to lose sleep over it.

Edited by WonderWAAAGH

I can't believe my little pony sparked that.

Wow

You're being really obtuse, WW.

It's perfectly obvious to any thinking person that you were implying that only nine-year-olds would like the show and that there's something wrong with someone older and male liking it, which is pretty insulting to him and me, as well as anyone else who likes it. Just because you're trying to weasel your way out of it now by playing dumb and acting like we should have known what you're were talking about doesn't mean that we'll be fooled by it.

I can't believe my little pony sparked that.

Wow

Oh yeah dude, some people get REALLY hurt about it. Any mention at all, some folks just cannot take it. Puts a damper on things.

Waaagh, the short of it is, your post isn't worth reporting. I don't think any post of yours ever, ever will be either. Thing is, neither was mine. Though I do find the whole gender role and age role assertion of yours kinda' funny- not report worthy, but definitely chuckle worthy. I thought you were better than that- you seem to be a critically thinking individual.

Don't tell me I'm wrong about that, aye?

I can't believe my little pony sparked that.

Wow

The funniest part is that people are getting all bent out of shape because they think I actually reported them. Hint: I don't really declare when I'm reporting something. If I say "reported," it's a pretty good bet that you're not.

...So... You didn't actually report, yet claimed to. You knew that it may garner another reaction for purposes of starting an argument.

You are aware what criteria that falls under... Right?

I can't believe my little pony sparked that.

No, read what I said.

What got us bent out of shape was the implication of your next post and then trying to pretend that you didn't mean to imply that anyone who watched the show was nine. I haven't yet insulted your choice to join the military when most people I know in universities consider it a poor career choice, to put it delicately.

Not that you care of course. After all, you probably didn't even read my post. I suppose you didn't feel like defending your inane behavior, which I guess is a reflection of your ability to defend it.

I've defended your behavior in the past, but your ignorance and stubborn refusal to admit any wrongdoing is as annoying as a child who breaks a window deliberately then tries to claim it was an accident. I would have figured the military would have straightened you out a bit, but I guess not all servicemen are upstanding citizens.

Eh, I can be obtuse, but this really isn't one of those circumstances. I had to go back in and quote the specific part that I was responding to, because you snuck a post in before I could. It should give it some better context, but the gist is that people respond poorly to bronyism (is that a word?) because it's the polar opposite of what an adult male is expected to obsess over. I have (or had) no idea that Lackwit actually likes pastel horses, no more so than I did you, which makes it kind of hard to form a deliberate insult. To be honest, I thought he was just regurgitating some meme for a cheap laugh, and my initial post was also designed to be humorous. The "reported" thing is a running gag, and I posted it here in anticipation of the My Little Pony fallout that was sure to come. I didn't realize either of my comments were going to get such a strong reaction, but maybe you guys are so used to that kind of anti-brony backlash that you see it when it's not even there.

If you really want to believe that I'm being disingenuous, be my guess. I think that if I've proven anything during my stay here on these forums, it's that I don't care a whole heck of a lot what people think of me. Kind of makes honesty an easy proposition. I'm telling you right now, you're inferring way too much out of one simple sentence.

Edit: and, after reading your last post, you're making it way too personal. You can tell your friends at the university that this veteran got his degree from one of the top public schools in the country.

I'm sure you've realize by now though that not caring what people may think doesn't change how they respond to you.

Regardless of how you meant it, the way it was taken was as an insult, and I'm really struggling to see how it could be taken any other way. Seriously, you couldn't see that it might be taken wrong without some sort of "J/K' or emoticon? Really?

That's rather ignorant, as I said.

Look, I'm sorry for overreacting, but I really did feel insulted, and I was rather amazed that you didn't at least apologize. The way it sounded was that it had the intended effect and that you were amused at the reaction it caused. Trolls do this all the time, and anyone who's had any experience on the internet knows the signs. You're behaving exactly like them, or at least you were.

I have no idea what you're trying to do, honestly. How can you be so blind to how you come across?

I can't believe my little pony sparked that.

'Course I f**kin' love MLP, I've said it before. Don't give a **** what an adult male, female, or young male or female is expected to do either. I'm not certain grown ass men are meant to play with toys, competitively at that but uh, well.

Like, here we are bro.

As for what we're used to, we're used to obtuse far too traditionally minded overmasculine guys judging other guys from behind their computer screens and puffing their E-chests. It gets a bit... Oh, annoying. And rather passé after a while, dig?

If you don't want people to infer anything on your words... You could stand to be just a liiiiiittle more careful with your phrasing and consider how others might respond, aye? This is the internet and we have unlimited time to type out our responses- and you do edit your posts often enough that I do know you care a bit what people think. And the fact you've spent this long on the topic as well, but that's pushing that envelope a bit much, methinks.
