Doubling Rexler's Fun…?

By That One Guy, in X-Wing

I'm sure you've realize by now though that not caring what people may think doesn't change how they respond to you.

Regardless of how you meant it, the way it was taken was as an insult, and I'm really struggling to see how it could be taken any other way. Seriously, you couldn't see that it might be taken wrong without some sort of "J/K' or emoticon? Really?

That's rather ignorant, as I said.

Look, I'm sorry for overreacting, but I really did feel insulted, and I was rather amazed that you didn't at least apologize. The way it sounded was that it had the intended effect and that you were amused at the reaction it caused. Trolls do this all the time, and anyone who's had any experience on the internet knows the signs. You're behaving exactly like them, or at least you were.

I have no idea what you're trying to do, honestly. How can you be so blind to how you come across?

If you took it as an insult, then I apologize. Hopefully that will give you some incentive to dial yourself back down a bit.

Well, that's good. I for one will accept it, and hope we can put this exchange past us. As for the topic at hand, I've little left to really offer as I've never even seen a Defender miniature in person since I'm about 20 miles plus away from my local shop.

"local".

As for that ability, hell if I know. I bet it'd be sick as hell to pull it off though.

Man, I came here wanting to share my story about how I double stressed someone with Rexler after dealing a Thrust Control Fire and then popping my focus.

And then I saw all this.

Thank you.

Again, I'm sorry for overreacting, but please try to learn some internet etiquette before you do that again. It's on you or whoever makes the post to make sure they are understood correctly, and when people get bent out of shape over something one posts, then one has to take steps to ensure it won't happen again.

This isn't a physical place like a bar or a restaurant where inflection and a little smile lets you know that it's all in good fun.

It's far more easy for words to be misinterpreted on the internet, even if you put in smilies.

I have seen you do this before, and I know you don't usually mean insult. But it really seemed like you were trying to be spiteful in what you said, and it really did hurt. I don't have many triggers, but being called a kid is one of them. So is when people insult my friends, something I'm sure you'll understand.

I'm going to drop this now. Hopefully we can come back to good terms before things get this far next time.

Yeah, that was pretty much it.

I ran my typical "One day I'm going to win a Regionals with this" list of Rexler with HLC and two TIE Advanceds with Stealth Device and Concussion Missiles. Faced off against a Falcon and two B-Wings. Sadly, I flipped the stress crit on a B-Wing with 1 Hull left, and it died later in the round... but, hey, it happened!

Well hey man, holla. Not bad at all. When I see people using the E-Wing and Defender well, it makes me quite happy.

'Cause they're good ships.

I have GOT to try these ships sometime! :D

I've been really aching to try the Defender sometime. It sounds like a lot of fun to play for someone used to playing the Rebels. :)

Maybe the fact that we're not 9 year old girls has something to do with it.

Ohoho, cute. See, you're the first one to throw an insult here. We're grown ass men playing with miniatures and acting serious about it. We have in depth discussions about a, "meta". About rules and we even get into SJW arguments about Echo's gender/sex.But the moment a pastel equine is posted, suddenly that's too much. When we're all grown ass men playing with toys.Dude. Come on. Reality check.

Yet another thread de-railed.

As long as you're running a pair of TIE Advanced, Vessery would be quite a lot more consistent than Rex.

You could even swap the Concussion Missiles for Clusters Missiles and give 'em to Ves for mad deeps, and you'd have a couple more points to play around with - Veteran Instincts for Ves?

Actually.... check this out:

Vessery

Cluster Missiles

HLC

Veteran Instincts

Storm Squadron x2

Proton Rockets

99 points, lean and mean.

Alternatively, remove the Cluster Missiles & VI and put the Stealth Devices back on the Storms.

You could run this today if you take Ion Pulse Missiles. Not as pfftttshhhBOOM as Proton Rockets, but better against Falcons.

I'd rather stick one of the Stealth Devices on Vessery. He's the one they'll be gunning for the most.

Vessery

HLC

Cluster Missiles

Veteran Instincts

Stealth Device

Tempest x2

Ion Pulse Missiles/Proton Rockets

Muni. Failsafe

Alternatively cut both Failsafes and switch Veteran Instincts to Outmaneuver.

I think you really do want Ves at PS8 with that many points piled on him, though...

Also probably better to cut the Cluster Missiles and bump the Tempests to Storms. PS4 will let them fight Talas more effectively, and it keeps a few more points off Vessery.

So...

Ves

HLC

VI

Stealth

Storm x2

IPM/Proton Rocket
Failsafe

You can have mine. I don't use it.

I'd feel like I was robbing you if I didn't offer something in return. Would you take a half pack of spearmint gum in trade?

ummm..... ??

Yeah, I think I might try Rexler after reading this. Sounds pretty good.

So, just to make sure I have this right...

If Rexlar attacks someone and gets a direct hit critical, the target takes 2 hull damage, the card is flipped face down, he spends focus and the card is flipped face up for 2 more damage? Then normal hits are applied?

So, Rexler Brath...

I'm still on the fence about the named defenders. I like them but the dial is a pain in the a**e at times so I do find myself wondering if its worth the points. I have just as much success with non named defenders.

The abilities are really fun though. I know a lot of people hate on Rexler because his ability doesn't always work, but if you look at his pricing you aren't actually paying for it at all. So really he's a PS 8 Defender who still keeps his EPT (no need for Veteran Instincts to get him that high) who occasionally can utterly and completely mess something up with a well focused shot.

You're not wrong. I just think that those point can be used else where and still be effective. The PS3 ( onyx squad?) Has done the best for me sofar.

I like the idea but you have far too many points on one small ship without any other serious threats on the table.

The clusters are a cool idea to use on vessery as he gets a free TL for both attacks.

Id drop the advanced and bring a lamda with a eu, fcs and weapons engineer for a start. Perhaps some squints to flank forcing your opponent to split his force. The good ol hammer and anvil trick :-)

Direct hit critical card does not instruct to flip it face down. It just counts as two damage for the remainder of the game unless some abilities allow flipping criticals face down again. But no, Rexler cannot affect a direct hit card twice. The ruckus was about minor explosion which specifically instructs to flip the card face down after resolving the card.

I like the idea of another ship firing before rexlar in order to strip shields and improve his chances to actually deal damage cards and thus use ability. Vessery with clusters and VI followed by Rexlar could be powerful. Or vessery with clusters and Marksmanship with Rexlar with Decoy would work too. I'll try it tonight and see how it works.

What we really need is the fleet officer card to be released already so that Rexlar can get two focus tokens! Can I get an amen?
