Oh believe you me, this I understand. This is why the OS-1 Loadout and Advanced SLAM are stapled to the **** thing. If you're not thinkin' "Fox Two" every time your gunboat attacks, high chance you're flying it wrong.

It's one of those ships you need to fly at low cost and many of, or provide proper escort for. It's one of the many reasons I don't prefer to play The Empire- middle grounds really aren't their thing, and Resistance's high cost has honestly pushed me more and more towards The Rebellion. Well, that and other things.

I've had success with it some time ago, but I don't know if I can replicate it properly at this point. I remember an amazing Vader+Jendon+Vynder list that really tore house. I barely had to think when I flew it. Which, of course I detest but hey.

On Euro tournaments... with the Open back here, I don't really need to go outside for them as that year at Bologne, although the Coronavirus may mess with it this year. So I looked into the cost of an XG-1, because I loved the old X-Wing & TIE Fighter games. Jesus, $100?? Why are they so bloody expensive?

Supply and demand.

There are only so many Gunboats floating around now, all from old 1st Edition stock, so sellers feel like they can jack the prices up.

Yeah, but I mean, that’s true of all the old 1.0 stuff, right? Near as I can see, there’s nothing that remotely approaches this kind of markup for any other ship.

It's true of all the old stuff, but to varying degrees. No one really wants things that are "bad" to niche, like Auzitucks or Sheathipedes, and while people do want TIE Phantoms they only really need the one. Gunboats are that (un)fortunate combination of being much-loved, wanted in multiples, and increasingly hard to come by.

They were extremely popular. One of the most wished for ships in first edition, leading to this very thread to gather almost 400 pages of begging FFG to add it to the game.
When it finally came out, it flew off the shelves.

It's one of the strangest things I have found in Second Edition: Instead of reprinting the most popular ships first, they went for stuff like the decimator (of which there was plenty of stock left everywhere) or other super-meh ships like the Jumpmaster, or the Ghost. And then they were surprised that they didn't sell so much.

They only had one release towards the end of 1st edtion, and I don't think they were ever reprinted.

I remember for a long time TIE Interceptors were hard to come by in 1st edition as well, before Imperial Aces was released. They were subject to price gouging for a while as well.

Here's hoping if the Gunboat gets a 2nd Edition re release, it gets the folding wing treatment!

I was about to mention this, but then I remembered that the Lambda shuttle has also folding wings that have no relevance in combat.

It would actually help for the gunboat to fold its wings to reduce its wingspan when there are many ship close to each other on the table. In the last epic match I played, I was going around with a wing of 4 gunboats, and I had to put them on different amounts of pegs, because otherwise their wings would be in the way.

If we got a reprint as well, I'd love the colour scheme to be lightened just a touch to match the Lambda. For a bit of Cygnus unity, you know.

I guess I'm just a crank, but I hate flappy models.

If ever the 2e release comes with them, you all know who to hit up if you want to trade a few old fixed-wing ones for new flappies.

Yep.

The FFG model is so similar to Fractalsponge's design (which was posted and reposted and adored throughout this topic), right down to the TIE-like solar panelling on the wing.

It's gorgeous.

That said, if a re-release arrives, red stripes would be the obvious addition!

If Soontir can have red stripes across his solar panels, so can the gunboat.

This, so much. I understand reprinting the base, familiar stuff for new players to get in (TIE/ln, TIE/x1, X-wing, Falcon, Firespray) but reprinting Z95s, M3As, JM5Ks, VCXs, Decis, TIE/in, TIE/d, etc. that still have plenty of shelf units has been odd. Especially, since most of those have little to no meta relevance, so no one was clamoring to buy them anyway. Gunboats were hard to find at the end of first edition in the first place, but now they are super rare/expensive.

You need to check out @Kharnete repainted Gunboats alongside a Silencer repainted as a TIE Avenger, they look amazing!

Fractalsponge had his Starwings in the Essential Guide to Warfare before Disney bought the license, so until FFG released their model, his version *was* the canon interpretation.
